Potentially Historic test for India.

Chance to make first time ever 4-0 in test match series.

Rahane debuts.

Shane Watson is not just a new father, he is also Australia's newest, and 44th, Test captain. Michael Clarke has been ruled out. This is the first time Clarke is missing a Test because of an injury, despite that dodgy back

The pitch looks as unappealing as the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, despite that regally beautiful name. It is what MS Dhoni might call an ugly wicket. However, it is going to be an effective wicket. There are cracks, you put a little pressure on them and they start moving. So a soft pitch. It will turn, but it will be slow

Waiting for the toss. This already looks like a third-day pitch.

Watson has won the toss and he has chosen to bat. That's all four tosses to Australia. "Honour and privilege," he calls this. Wade comes in, Haddin left out. Johnson and Pattinson come in for Starc and Doherty. Maxwell replaces Henriques.

Clarke chickens out,did want to be to Jadejafied:))

Watson captaining choses to bat

Nervous 100 + 90's test for SRT!

198th test, Eeee! People barely survive to play for 100 tests, this guy is almost doubling that number. :23:

why is Watson captain when Warner would have loved to be it :))

Though seriously not a great example to put a guy in as captain just after all the drama he caused.

Ehhhh Khwaja not playing! Bechara Uzi! I would have played him. Nothing to gain from this series, Hughes have failed, they should have def. played him. Daft call.

From being suspended and publicly humiliated to the Test captain on return a few days later. Must be a first.

Who said anything about jadeja there mate ? :D

I am sure Saurav's banter that praised Jadeja has bothered you! :p No matter how much you deny, was that you, who didn't like Clarke being Jadeja's bunny thread as well? :D

^^

If you failed to comprehend, again.. no reference to Jadeja whatsoever mate :)

LMAO wheres that aussie poster who said Khawaja would play in India? I knew this would happen, he might as well play for Pakistan because the selectors are obviously being racist here only explaination for picking a bits and pieces player, another hopeless player of spin and another ordinary bat over a specialist bat.

lol nothing funnier than seeing Hughes try to play spin

There is some movement off the pitch for Bhuvi (more likely due to early morning start)

So please enlighten me, why did his banter-post bother you? What was so crass about it?

His general consistency of a 3 yr old.

Clarke has been bothered by that problem since he was about 18 yrs of age, and its a genuine thing too. Last match he was clearly in pain in the field for everybody to see.
Its a disc problem and hardly anything to take a dig at.

And to start off in the thread with that sorta thing, more like a red bull infested kid jumping about. more like an eyesore too early in the morning / game to be ignored.

Khair On topic,

What do u guys think, who apart from Watson could have been given the charge for this test match ?
To be handing over the reign to somebody accused of serious violations.. it really comes across as bad advertisement.

lighten up spaceshot, that was meant to be a joke.I though I added a smiley too

Still dude, on already down and out fella with a nasty injury?
Anyhoo.. all good if it was indeed a joke.

Brad Haddin, unfortunately he is not in the playing eleven

Yea strange they dropped haddin too. He is one attacking batsman the Oz can really do with.
Any reason mentioned ?

Nope. Nothin' said, except Wade is fit to play hence got his place back.

I still feel, Haddin is much better batsmen(and pretty good WK) to have in Indian Conditions than some of the top 6 batters of current OZ line up.

Lol uneven bounce. ICC will be crying about this pitch, I bet.

I hope the match lasts for at least 4 days if not the full quota of 5 days. And also I would be happy for a change to see pacers from both the team making much of this pitch.

I just came home to check the score, looks like Shahid Warner is out for a duck again.

Australia tour of India, 4th Test: India v Australia at Delhi, Mar 22-26, 2013

Australia won the toss and elected to bat

Because Wade is back and they think Wade is going to be the keeper they want to persevere with through thick and thin for the next few years.

It's surely going to help pace bowlers as well. Seam needs to be used correctly.

Hughes seems to have got his rhythm back after that attacking inning from Mohali.

Scoring at a very brisk rate (more than run a ball) So far scored 7 boundaries (out of his 29 runs)

It appears to me, Pattinson and Johnson could be deadly dangerous on this pitch against our young inexperienced top order.

Not much assistance for spin so far on this 1st day pitch. Even the ones that turned(albeit a very small amount) were so slow that batter could adjust easily to play it late.

Justcrazy must be going crazy about nobody responding to this thread despite the match have already been started :yk

:)))

Bhuvi is just not into his discipline today, so many bad balls from him this morning.

Hughes on his way to yet another 50 and possibly more than that.

Hughes clearly turning the heat on India's bowlers. 41 off 53 balls so far

Impressive inning from Hughes so far with some quality shots

May be this is why former OZ players rates this guy #Hughes

Nasty bounce from Ishant and well played in the end by Hughes

(SunnyG reckons it was a good length delivery with a vicious uneven bounce, but looked to me it was bit short of good length)

If Ishant is getting the ball to bounce that high off a length Patto and Siddle will be brutal on this pitch.

Waht a sad end to a good inning!

Hughes chops one onto his stumps

Ishant gets his 2nd wicket

I felt the same. This pitch will assist pacers more than the spinners. There is an uneven bounce available for bowlers to exploit.

Johnson could be the trump card here for OZs

So, ready for Aus finally winning a test in this series?

Good bowling from Ishant to get Hughes. Smacked him on the head to disrupt Hughes's concentration.

In comes Twatto to play a Clarkesque match saving knock

Let's see if Twatto can rise to the occasion.
