India vs Australia | 4th Test | Delhi | 22/3/13 | Day 3

Sir should have come ahead of Rahane after his first innings exploits

It is written that Sir Jadeja has to play the savior role again. All hail the Sirji :asif

It appears our batters have pressed the PANIC button already (reminds me the last few overs of Mohali test match)

What's happening! Pujara's innings shows what a classy player he is!

Very gratifying to see the two biggest hot air balloons in the Aus team - Warner and Wade - repeatedly doing the donkey dance here.

Haysman talking about a rocky Hussey and Clarkes relationship. Maybe some truth to the rumors?

Sorry 10-fer for the Test

Truly deserves it. It's interesting, yesterday as Lyon and Watson walked off there seemed to be a mateship in the way they were thumping each other. Something that you don't see with Clarke and the guys.

This is all over, I'm signing off on this game. Congrats to India. Aussies, you suck. May many of you pay at the selection table for the Ashes.

Yep Lyon definitely seems to be enjoying bowling under Watson, doubt Lyon would've done this well under Clarke

PLz write some quotes of IPL Brigade on this whitewash # ShastriGavaskar

That's true, (and I'm not even a huge Clarke fanboy) but being "one of the boys" was never what being Oz captain was about.

AB deliberately seperated himself from the team to a certain extent after captaincy to achieve what he did.

S. Waugh was never, ever, "one of the boys". In fact Ian Chappell still hates him & speaks down of him because Waugh never joined in his boozy, lets drink beer & talk cricket sessions. (Informal sessions in Oz, not official homework)

S. Waugh & AB demanded respect because of the work & fight they put in, if you were mates, great, but the only requirement was the standard they required at training & on the field. Backslapping is optional.

India win :14:. 4-0. Emphatic series win for India. We still need to improve overseas though. Lets keep this in context. Its time to celebrate :27:

Aussies lol how the mighty have fallen. I feel sorry for them and their fans for a second I really do but opportunity like this never comes in amillion years :D. So lets all laugh at them :haha

4-0 is good moral booster , i hope our team performs well in SA now.

Brilliant series win for India

Thanks mainly to Vijay/Pujara/Jaddu/Ashwin/Dhawan (and also important contributions from MSD/Bhuvi/Ishant/Ojha and Kohli at crucial moments of this series)

From OZ side Patto/Lyon/Starc/Smith/Siddle were excellent in whatever chances that they got throughout the series(Cowan though was not among big runs but still contributed decently same was the case with Clarke n Hughes)

Congrats to fellow Indian PPers (in particular IndianWillow/Firebird/Itachi/Saurav/TMRiddle/Sandeep/Giri/FC/LethalWeapon and many other Indian fans who were with me in PP during the whole series)

Commiserations to Aussie PPers (RA, Convict, Wrong UN, OzGod and Marshy)

Never knew Steve Waugh played with Ian Chappell, thought Ian played in the 70s

Actually Dhoni's double ton was the decisive knock of the series. When Dhoni came to the crease, Australia definitely had the upper hand, but Dhoni's run a ball knock changed the state of the match in just 3 hours. If the first test had been a draw or gone the Aussie way, series result could have been entirely different. Australia were so battered by that Dhoni knock that they could never mount a challenge again.

Never thought i m going to say this but this is absolutely crap from Aussies losing 4-0 is just embrassing

3 MOTS performance in 5 test series that he has played so far in his very short test career

Ashwin :14:

What can i say about Australia? I'm at a loss for words to be honest. Maybe their test status needs revoked for a little while, no fight whatsoever. Disgrace!!

Over the top much?? They're still better than lot of the other teams like WI, SL

Dhoni the true gentleman! Handing trophy to youngsters and disappearing in the background!

OTT... Losing to India isn't a crime mate.. Calm down.. We were superior

the diff is that other teams are willing to learn whereas Australia are a bunch of cowards. Creating ROADS at home against better teams and lively tracks against weaker teams, all so they can keep a good home record. As a result they will suffer away from home. Other teams back themselves in their home conditions, South Africa is a good example of this we always created lively tracks even when we just returned from isolation. They will suffer in the Ashes for sure. I hate cowards.

Lol seriously it's just a game

Congratulations to Indian fans and commiserations to the Aussies. Just goes to show how the quality of Test cricket has fallen the world over. AUS,IND,PAK can win only at home. Only RSA and to a much lesser extent, England are competetive away from home. India should avoid complacency- they lack quality fast bowlers and batsmen and will get hammered by better teams in less helpful conditions

Not really. Replace South Africa with Australia and that's how test cricket has been the last 20 years.

Anyway it's good for the game.

Fallen?

What you describe is the status quo for last 50 years. #learnyourhistory

Only three teams can win or draw against India in India right now - SA, Eng and Pak. Any one else who comes here at the moment will be white washed.

There is only one world class fast bowler in Steyn. At the height of Aussie dominance, a little over a decade back there was Mcgrath,Gillespie,Akhtar,Bond,Pollock,Donald, the 2 W's. The quality of Test cricket has fallen sharply in the last decade. You don't need history lessons to know that.

Never knew Steve Waugh played with Ian Chappell, thought Ian played in the 70s

I should clear this up.

Chappelli is/was forever bashing S. Waugh in the media for not being his kind of player (eg beer drinker). Chappelli wanted a continuation of like-minded lads who was & drank with him (even after he retired and was in media) & all sat around telling each other hoiw good they were. He felt snubbed when S. Waugh was never interested (not a big drinker, rather be wit family than at the pub).

So Chapelli has ran an anti0S.Waugh campaign ever since- backing Warne, one of his lads, to the hilt. Constant references when Warne (& others) was around about how great captains they'd make, how S. Waugh needed to retire etc.

So no, they never played together but it Chapelli always came down on the "lets all just drink beer & ignore coaches & we'll never have a problem" side- as per Warnes recent media columns and Waugh was always on the "drink if you like it but as a team we are going to have high standards and you damn well better meet them" school.

Clarke & co is merely the latest embodiment of this culture war (Waugh!) and all the old players are coming out of the woodwork in media.

We just don't recognise them yet.

Finn, Anderson, Roach, Starc, Pattinson, Siddle, gabriel, Junaid, and maybe others will all be recognised as good bowlers when they retire.

Philander, Steyn, Swann, Ajmal, (Amir?) will likely go down as greats. Maybe some of the above too.

Ashwin, Irfan, Southee, Boult etc etc - too soon to tell but in 5-10 years some of these will fit into the above lists too.

After his first test in early 1990's and again in lateish 90's people called for Warne to be dropped. We can't ever see the full greatnes until it is almost too late.

It is folly to judge talent only on finished careers, cricket is forever re-inventing itself and players evolving, rising and declining, it's best to learn to enjoy the talent you see, than lament the talent retired.

Thata refreshing perspective. Not sure it will be received well among the wrist slitters here who always believe cricket was great in the decades past. Reminds me of the Chappells and Gavaskars who like to talk about "in my days" :yk
