SA gonna take lead here. AB looking set for a big ton.

ABD is indeed setting his eyes on yet another 100 against India. He has played the spinners better (used lot of sweep shots against Jaddu) after initial hiccup(s).

Only watched his captaincy in 2nd session, not impressive tbh. But how was his over all captaincy? I didn't watch the whole game live.

Wasted one whole hour in the morning by bowling seamers from one end.
Plus weird field placings as well.

India will take a healthy lead of 1 run. :misbah Hope mr dhawan score a century in 2nd innings.

Seeing the way he has been flopping frequently, I would be tempted to use Rohit as a opener for next game (at least he is a safe catcher and can be used as a part time off spin option as well)

Meanwhile, Idea is coming up with one bakwaas ad after another with their Idea Internet network campaign.

This is a pitch where it is difficult for a batsman to get started. But you can make runs once you settle down and you are willing to fight for your runs. No easy runs on this pitch however.

All things said and done this is a GREAT innings from AB after the initial slice of luck

Jaddu strikes, steyn gone

A non spinning straighter one does the job for jaddu/india

From what i recall(seeing in ODis), Rabada is no mug with the bat either. He has got decent technique and defense for a tailender

Average. AB should farm strike and hit out now to get as close to Jndia total as possible

Bold him! Its realpy hard to get devilliers out but good ball. Not a good shot by ab

Terrific knock by ABD but poor batting actually.

That dismissal encaputales how poor he has been in defense against the spinning ball this innings.

Amla on the other hand was a monster.

Some pathetic captaincy from Kohli to start with a seamer in the first session today. We could have had a 50 run lead.

Unless a Pujara special

JMHO, he has been a bit over rated. Despite the 100 he got in his come back test match in SL, I still don't trust him to play a long inning here. He seems to have somehow lost his technique against spinners (especially offies), unable to convert scratchy 20's into 50s or 100's like he did in the 1st part of his career.

that was a marginal call. was slipping down leg.

awful commentary from shiva-whats-his-name. just seems like a really unlikable person

Mishra's wickets were sooo crucial even though it was tail + ABD.

That tail was playing Jaddu and Ash well.

Yeah he used to destroy spin bowling around 2-3 years back. His decline has hurt us a lot.

AB impact was terrific though. If he hadn't scored fast SA would not have reached 150 here.

Incredible impact.

Frustrated to see him score so much after looking like a tailender for so long.

But that's what class players do. They are amazing when not in zone.

Maybe it's just the matches I watch so could be a coincidence but Dharmasena makes 3-4 mistakes in pretty much every match he's umpiring.

Terrible umpire

Indeed, his decline along with inconsistency of Kohli and Rahane (not to mention a shaky opening combo) has made our batting line up very vulnerable.

Everyone remembers the KP inning at Mumbai. Pujara played an equally brilliant inning in that match but seems to have regressed against spin these days.

Wasn't following it then, was it a LBW ?

Atrocious pitch though, 20 wickets fallen in less than 5 sessions isn't good.

It was caught behind not given. Off Jaddu. Very tough to give that cos ABD nicked and took his bat behind. You needed DRS for that but hey BCCI....

Then Jaddu got him caught at slips but no ball.

Reg pitch - You should watch the first hour bro. Was looking hopeless for India until Elgar slogged and got out. :))

See how many batsmen got out to slogs.

Elgar slog....
Amla was batting like a dream until he came out and got out
Dane Vilas got out to slog sweep
Dale Steyn to slog
Harmer could have got out to slog too but landed safely for him...

Pitch is defo getting harder but there is massive ineptness by both sides.

Other posters here would never agree so I gave up. :))

Match could have been far less competitive if AB had been given then because India would have had a massive lead.

I've checked Cricinfo, don't know what the hell is wrong with SA's batting they're playing Test cricket not some hit and giggle format.

Having said that, I don't think they would have played those shots on a less difficult pitch because of the ability to manoeuvre the ball easier on a less conducive track to spin and bounce.

Anyway, on goats to India for winning this, no way SA are chasing anything over 150 in the 4th innings.

So with some umpiring help, South Africa reached 184. Let's see if India get the same luck. :ab

SA will need some really mindless batting by India to win

Which this Indian batting line up is capable of!

Remember the India's 2nd innings of 1st test against SL few weeks back.

I hope I am proven wrong though

200-250 will be a winning score for India. With a player like AB on the other side India should try to get 300.

You know what's funny...

Amla was initially struggling yesterday but today he became soo good that he was blocking and getting runs. Except 1 chance earlier in the day, he had no problems whatsoever.

Comes down the track to Ashwin to loft him, misses the ball, Saha misses the stumping, ball hits Saha's chest and falls on stumps.

Elgar looked pretty solid before he slogged Ashwin out of the blue and got out. Was the first to get out today.

Dane Vilas was rotating strike with ABD quite easily. Suddenly slogs Ashwin and gets out.

Only Dale Steyn was struggling against Mishra. But had no issues with Jaddu but slogged him and got out (I can understand this but why would you slog with ABD on the other end in ZONE).

Harmer was playing Ashwin so well. Then suddenly a slog but landed in no man's land. Later Mishra's spin helped clean up the tail (very imp in the context of the game cos Ashwin and Jaddu were UNABLE to do it).

Only 1 slog (Steyn) was preceded by trouble. All the others were fine.

Which was why I didn't understand the strategy.

I was like WHYYYYYY would you slog.

Dhawan looks like a sitting duck against offie harmer

I think you are underestimating the reason for these slogs. They were playing these slogs to maximize the score. If they stayed back and defended, they wouldn't last long enough to post a decent score. Only some players like Vijay, Pujara and Amla can play a grinding knock here. Others don't have the technique to last long on this pitch so they have to score at every opportunity.

I know they slogged cos it felt tempting.

But apart from Steyn, no one was in trouble before and SCOREBOARD was ticking.

No run blockage before slogs.

Now explain the slogs. :)

bhaagViruBhaag waiting for your comments on dhawan :)

Dhawan exposed. Throw him out and bring Rahul.

He will either get a duck or 100. :))

Which is another problem but better than Dhawan.
