Elgar complained the first day of this Test. And Brisbane wicket is the best example of how Test wicket should be. New Zealand proved that it wasn't a 600 pitch

I don't agree at all.

I was at the Gabba: NZ cruised to 102-1 on the second evening.

The problem is that in Queensland there is no daylight saving, which means that play in the third session is often under artificial light - and that's when 102-1 quickly became 114-4, and the innings went from probably heading towards 450 to ending up 317 all out.

It was painful to watch. I saw 4 wickets fall in the first 5 sessions at the Gabba. Horrible.

Aaron getting good bounce, this lad is a keeper generating pace and bounce on the least non pacy wickets around...

Aaron's pace is troubling batsmen it seems. Not watching the match, but I heard he has changed his action a little now.. I hope it helps his control. His recent form has been good.

When was the last time SA lost a Test series in Asia ?

Blame the pitch.

Yes, because SA are the greatest ever team to grace the pitch and they are destined to win in India 4-0 even if they're carrying rookies like vilas, van zyl, elgar who are touring India for the first time.

It has a lot to do with the pitch, you don't simply lose nearly 40 wickets in 9 sessions just like that.

Compared to 80s & 90s, I just wonder where ICC has taken the batting skill. This is indeed a tough wicket; but never a wicket of ~650/35. Considering the improvement of Indian out fields, this is probably 550/35 sort of total 25 years back.

Here are my two gems

Those 3 innings are simply unthinkable these days.

These were old classy matches comparable to this test
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63456.html (unplayable wicket from day one)
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63354.html (very tough wicket, some great knocks there)

Nothing special in the pitch. Indian team of the old would've racked up 400 on this pitch. It's just that both the teams are not very good players of spin atm. Most of the wickets were thrown away.

Kohli you FOOOOOOOOOL.

Bring 3 spinners and finish off the game.

Why waste time with pacers.

Sure they can get a wicket but a spinner is likely to get it faster.

Another one bites dust to a ball that did not spin much.

Its the fear of spin that is getting wickets here.

Yadav needs to go home. This is not a pitch for pacers.

Bring on Ashwin and finish off the game Kohli.

As long as they learn something from the experience and apply it.

Still a long way to go. We should keep the faith.

It looks bleak for SA to be honest.

ABDV and Amla look tentative while the rest of the batting is too inexperienced on spinning wickets. And your strike bowler gets injured to add salt to the wounds.

No demons in the pitch. Not much spin on offer for all the Indian spinners. Just your average pitch.

Just poor technique by batsmen from both teams.

and Australia was allowed to bat their 3rd session of Day 1 when and their 3rd session batting on Day 3 when ?

Sure, I agree.

But they actually did lose wickets in almost identical fashion tonight to what the Kiwis did yesterday.

Day 1 was different. They took full toll of a tired and medium-paced attack, certainly.

and what happened to Kiwis in the morning session today, was that played in the afternoon too

PS: I don't get you giving excuses for a nothing team that is finally getting exposed post World Cup

I have been criticising McCullum and the over-attacking play of the Kiwis for months, specifically the last two games of the World Cup and the Lords Test.

But they were already down to the last two recognised batsmen at the start of play today.

In the first session they lost their numbers 7 and 8 batsmen.

In the second session they lost their numbers 9 and 10 batsmen and the last recognised batsman fell to the second new ball.

I think you should look into their Test rankings before defending them further :21:

lol BCCI shaming Dhawan publicly

Looks like now its starting to turn. Have to wait and see.

If SA were 100-2 or 100-3 the game would have been a nail biter.

Suppose I can start blaming folks. Firstly, I would like to blame Faf. You were crap. Secondly, I would like to blame Amla, wth is going on with you?

Horrible performance South Africa. They can do better than this. Happy to be 1-0 up/.

Amla looked so comfortable in 1st inning, threw it away in 2nd. Was surprised to see such negligence.

Jaddu the real hero.

Happy he got 5fer.

It would have been a shame if Ashwin got the last wicket and both were 4 wickets each cos Jaddu had a FAR FAR FAR greater impact on this innings and 5fer shows that.

Congratulations to India. A well-deserved win - they handled the moments of pressure the better.

I'm also delighted to see Pujara scoring runs. A proper Test player.
