AB was the reason South Africa scored 180 last inning, don't see them crossing 100 now.

Well even if AB had made a good knock, it would have been tough for SA. India collapsed to 200 from 3/161, you never know what would be coming at you as a batsman on this pitch. The pitch itself is not unplayable like some other pitches we had in the past, but the batsmen playing in this match aren't in the league of Indian batsmen of the past when it comes to playing on such wickets.
 
Elgar has earned my respect. Gritting it out. The only positive from our batting performance

SA managed to dismiss India cheaply twice. If India were scoring freely and Saffers failing then 4-0 was possible. But Indian batsmen too can't bat well so even if all the pitches are result oriented the Saffers will take a match or two. It could be 3-1 or 2-2.
 
I hope Faf gets a beating in the dressing room. Totally failed in this test. We all know he's a much better player than this.
 
SA batsmen will not survive playing tuk tuk. They need to go for their shots and hope for the best.
 
Cricinfo comments going off about the pitch and to be fair they have a strong case.
 
If this was an Asian team struggling against swing in alien conditions, all their batsmen would be called FTBs and all the runs they scored at home would be mocked. :fawad

Poor batting.

ABD was moving too much when I told my Dad its NOT good for the match though it will look pretty.

You need an Amla style calm innings to anchor chases. He got out to a horrible misjudgement.

Elgar has been gritting it out and that's how it should be.
 
Pitch isn't turning sharply like the ones we had previously vs AUS but none of the batsmen from both sides have played well. Faf especially has been really poor, looked like a tail ender

Not fair at all. Cricket SA should complain about this nonsense. A test wicket can favor the home team 60-70% but this is 95% favoring india

Even the first inning South Africa score was thanks to bad umpiring. Scorecard doesn't reflect how poor they have been in this match.

Pakistan would've beaten England if they had lost all 3 tosses as well IMO because they had the better batting vs spin and also our spinners were light years ahead of England's spinners.
 
Elgar and Zyn showing how to play (at this stage).

When turn gets vicious which it will, then they will be tested but now they are playing well.

One side you need to hold on this wicket, while at the other end you should keep scoring. This is the sort of wicket where you cannot hit your way out of trouble (even if you are AB) but you can't block block block and hope to post a decent score. Anyway with AB gone the chances are bleak for SA now, I think they will just cross 100.

The same could be said of the pitches where Australia got mauled or where England lost 2 series.

I don't agree but you're entitled to your opinion. Winning the toss is a huge part of winning in the UAE and Australia.

In fact, I think SA wouldve lost here regardless of the toss.

No alarming spin yet. Just mild to moderate spin and batsmen from both sides have dropped their pants.

Hey, some Pakistanis are the only ones complaining about this pitch. The Saffers aren't complaining (they are glad this wasn't a 600 run making machine like Brisbane) nor are the neutrals.

Elgar complained the first day of this Test. And Brisbane wicket is the best example of how Test wicket should be. New Zealand proved that it wasn't a 600 pitch
 
Aaron gets Elgar, this guy gets good bounce even on dead pitches. Even SA bowlers weren't getting this much bounce ....

But their batting skills made sure it wasn't as easy as it should have been. Indians batted twice as well as them even in tougher conditions, so toss hardly made a differnce.
 
Umesh is crap, very rarely bowls a wicket taking delivery on these pitches. Aaron >> Umesh and also bowls around 90 MPH
