What's new

India vs South Africa | 3rd Test | Johannesburg | Jan 24-28, 2018 | Day 2 | Discussion Thread

AB already looking shaky.

Rabada did all the hard work and lengthened the batting line up.

cant blame umpire her for not giving out tbh

I dont think AB will do much today. However,Amla can hurt them and will score heavily today.

Why the hell didnt they review? Lol!

it jagged back in and there was seam movement too so always tricky

but they should have reviewed it since it would have been umpire's call atleast and hence wouldnt have been wasted

lol AB was such a big wicket ..that was hitting

poor from kohli..should have gone for DRS

Here is a prediction:

AB will be out under a score of 10 today.

Three slips and a gully and AB wants to dab it to third man. That's not responsible batting..

See what i was saying. Amla is moving too much across . Should have been given out there. It was way too close.

However, the dead rubber specialist these days might hit a 100 today.

That should be out, the umpire soft signalled an inside edge as reason for not giving it out, shouldn't he change his decision now that there was no edge.

Lol. Series is won now so Amla will secure a ton just like he did against England a couple of years ago . Certainly no ATG this guy.

AB is so poor at reading the context of a game (any format for that matter). I've never seen a talented player with such poor intelligence (in any sport). You've got to put a price on your wicket.

Nice jinx. But I'll take a hundred on these conditions. Not like he didn't play a match winning 80+ in the last match. Then again that doesn't suit the narrative does it?

AB out.

But still, 0-3 whitewash on the cards for India, who have no one other than Kohli and may be Pujara to bat.

Hell yeah! Good job. No point scoring in dead rubber. Yet you are still a loser. Your home isn't too far from Jburg.Go back.

Amla has scored a lot of soft runs in his career to be considered an ATG.

Please also give your prediction for SA total score in 1st inning.

A player with better intelligence would have known how Rabada frustrated the Indians. All AB had to do was bat time and not worry about runs. Get the bowlers in their third spells.

soso_killer you are underestimating Ab here. He was the difference in the first two matches between 2 teams

He's scored tougher runs than Tendulkar, Dravid combined. You don't win your team a series in England, Australia, NZ, Sri Lanka. Draw a few in India and the UAE by scoring soft runs.

How many series did the likes of Tendulkar win away from home?

Lol. You win series away because of your bowling attack and generally your overall lineup. In a lineup of Smith,Kallis,Steyn,Philander,AB ,Morne you could hardly say that Amla was the reason you don't away. Steyn's spells drew series in UAE and India. Even in the UAE it was Smith and AB batting.

This is a different pitch and one has to adapt. Look at Amla adopting a different stance. It's what separates great players from good ones. That ability to adapt to conditions. It's what made Amla a clutch player for SA.
Scoring a hundred of 300 balls in one innings and scoring a 100 striking at 80 in the next.

And here comes the excuses. Amla bats at three. Has won matches when SA has lost early wickets to. I don't think I need to explain that. Anyone who has followed SA would know Amla has scored tough runs. He is the last person anyone with inkling of knowledge would accuse him of.

soso_killer on this pitch you need some luck. Amla has luck today. He was lucky 2-3 times. And Ab got peach of a delivery.

And I have to say the excuses here are palpable.

This was a poor pitch and a minefield. Now it's a dead rubber when SA's objective is to inflict a whitewash.
What next?

He played a poor stroke. Everyone has been lucky on this surface. You need to guts it out.

Bhuvi has become a gun bowler for India. Glad that he has discovered his swing back which he had lost for a couple of years. A treat to watch.

On the other side, Amla is playing a world class innings on this track. Looks so composed. 187 now looks like worth 350. Batting last on this pitch won't be an issue. It's just that SA needs a lead. Even a 20 run lead is pretty significant here.

kock needs to up his game today. Has really looked off color whole series.

You are getting too much aggressive mate.
Amla is not capable enough to tie tendulkar's
And dravids shoelaces.

Shami is the worst bowler in this series. Always comes at crucial time and remove pressure by bowling filth

Yeah a guy that stood up every time the #1 ranking was on the line away from home is not fit enough to lace anyone's boots. And the issue was Amla "scoring" soft runs.

Which in itself is ironic. On the one hand this pitch is a "minefield" on the other it's a "dead rubber". Which is which? Coz it can't be both.

I wonder if India can pull a Faf. Have the keeper up the stumps against Amla. Force him to bat deep in his crease to bring the LBW into play. He is batting way outside the crease.

50 for Amla on this easy track on a dead rubber. Dead rubber bully :yk

Dear CSA drop your best player.
