India suspends most visas to halt coronavirus spread

India has 60 confirmed cases of the virus
India has announced that all visas, barring a select few categories, will be suspended for a month in order to halt the spread of Covid-19.

Visa free travel afforded to overseas citizens of the country has also been suspended until 15 April.

The move is expected to impact tourism, hotel and aviation industries in what will be more bad news for the slowing economy.

India has 60 confirmed cases of the virus, the health ministry says.

This number is expected to grow in coming days, as the results for tests conducted earlier become available.

The advisory, issued on Wednesday night, says that only diplomatic, official, employment and project visas will be exempt from the current restrictions, which will be reviewed again in a month.

Cancel every event, even PSL.

Indian and Pakistani railways need to be shut down. Massive size masjid, churches, Mandir need to be shut down as well. Not allow more than 1000 people together.

Something should happen in PSL too I know it sound hatrish but maybe it is the best option

Just cancel it

Our hospitals can’t handle normal cases(almost full capacity in public hospitals ). This will destroy Pakistan

IPL should be called off. All sports events should be paused for 30 days.

IPL will be played behind closed doors. Since all matches are insured, they will get the ticket money from insurance companies.

While TV revenues will be unaffected.

Visas for employment are still valid in India and not in abeyance. So sportsmen on Professional visas will be allowed.

This decision will be taken by Bcci and the GoI combine.

Irrespective of all the precautions taken for players safety, I just feel you can't play cricket to the fullest in the current scenario.

We are better off cancelling all the cricket matches for atleast one month.

1000 people? Here in Norway they recommend less than 50 people at gatherings. The Friday prayers in my local mosque is cancelled.

IPL 2020: Government directive on coronavirus puts participation of overseas players in doubt

The latest directive from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare on Wednesday has put the participation of foreign players in IPL 2020 in doubt. The Ministry tweeted that “all existing visas, except diplomatic, official, UN/International Organizations, employment, project visas, stand suspended till 15th April 2020. This will come into effect from 1200 GMT on 13th March 2020 at the port of departure.”

According to “Details of Visas Granted by India” manual on the Ministry of Home Affairs, Clause 40 (xv) specifies: “Foreign nationals who are engaged in commercial sports events in India on contract (including coaches) like Indian Premier League, Indian Soccer League, etc. with remuneration. They may be granted ‘B-Sports’ Visa with multiple entry facility for 13 appropriate period. Such a foreign national shall comply with all the statutory obligations like payment of taxes, etc.”

Since B-Sports - or even Business Visa is not specified in the list of exceptions by the Health Ministry, it is highly unlikely that any overseas cricketer can join his IPL franchise at least before April 15. While IPL officials remained unavailable for a comment, officials from a couple of franchisees said it is “too early” to comment on the impact of the advisory. “We will have to consult our legal teams to ascertain the nature of players’ visas,” said the CEO of a franchise.

Besides, the Health Ministry’s directive of “all incoming travellers, including Indians, arriving from or having visited China, Italy, Iran, Republic of Korea, France, Spain & Germany after 15th Feb, 2020 shall be quarantined for a minimum period of 14 days” is likely to have a severe impact on overseas cricketers’ participation in IPL.

The COVID-19 (coronavirus) categorised as a pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and positive cases on the rise in India, the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) is in serious doubt of starting on the scheduled date of March 29. The IPL governing council will meet this Saturday to take stock of the situation, but with Maharashtra government stalling the sale of IPL tickets in the state and the ongoing Road Safety World Series to be played behind closed doors in DY Patil Stadium, it seems that the council may have to make some difficult decisions on organising the tournament in the wake of the pandemic.

With the Indian government suspending all tourist visas till April 15, the participation of foreign players too is in severe doubt. So, what can the BCCI and the IPL governing council do? Firstly, they can go ahead with the tournament and BCCI president Sourav Ganguly stating that all precautions will be taken in lieu of Coronavirus. However, things have changed rapidly with Coronavirus cases on the rise in the country, which now stands at 60.

The second approach will to postpone the IPL, then again there is no fixed timely for this. As per a report in the Times of India, the likelihood of IPL beginning on the scheduled date is getting lesser by the day. “A deferment is to be worked upon. If the situation worsens, the tournament may not happen at all.”

The other options that BCCI and the IPL council have in front of them is the change of format to look at a shorter window and play less of home and away games.

“Changing of the format is possible if we’re looking at a shorter window. Maybe less home and away games by dividing the teams into two pools. Matches can be brought down by 25 to 30%. Wait for March to get over,” said BCCI sources as quoted by the National Daily.

Yeah it most probably will be postponed. And if it happens later it will have to be a curtailed, shorter event unless its altogether cancelled for the year. Unfortunate but the best thing to do under the circumstances

PSL should be played behind closed doors at the best and IPL will have to be cancelled due to it starting later and a stage where it will be widespread unfortunately in India.

Will not be possible to delay IPL as the players respective countries will be playing against each other and will not allow noc.

as the trends of contagious corona-virus suggests in coming months the Asian subcontinent is going to be a hot spot for the virus spread, even if the ipl or any international series are not postponed the public gathering is not going to happen due to scare of virus so its in best interest to postpone all cricket in the coming months especially the countries where the spread of virus rate is fast

Breaking news -
IPL 2020 likely to be held behind closed doors - Sources.

It's a no brainer. IPL must be postponed till situation gets better. Even the NBA habe called off the entire season.

There are only 8 teams
Why not play 1 match each and top 4 qualify for semifinal and than final.

It will be over within 30 days

It's the IPL. The biggest cricket tournament in the world. You cannot reduce it to a 30 day circus.

I dont think it can be postponed as many are suggesting, the only options are to play it behind closed doors or cancel it. There is a cricket schedule outside of IPL which cant be changed to create a window for IPL in rest of the months of the year.

The directive from the Government of India to suspend all visas, barring a few categories, till April 15 has put the participation of foreign players in IPL 2020 in doubt.

The IPL Governing Council, meanwhile, will meet on Saturday to discuss the viability of hosting the T20 League amidst the threat of COVID-19.

Cricket Australia (CA) has said the final decision, at this point, rests with the players and their respective franchises.

READ: Spectator at Women's T20 World Cup final tested positive for COVID-19

"The IPL is not affiliated with CA as a separate competition featuring individual Australian players, whose contracts are directly with their franchises," said a communications manager with the Australian cricket board.

"From a CA perspective, we continue to monitor the situation, particularly looking at the advice provided by DFAT (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) and other relevant government agencies, including the Australian Institute of Sport, which has outlined a coordinated approach for all Australian sports."

Even if the tournament gets a go-ahead and the players fall under the exemption category, will the Australian cricketers risk travel for IPL?

As on Thursday early evening, Australia has more than 150 confirmed cases of coronavirus. India has 73.

According to the long-time manager of a leading Australian cricketer, it would be 'premature' to comment on the players' availability.

"We aren’t in a position to comment at this stage particularly given we’ve not received any advice from India/IPL team. Cricket Australia has not made any comment in relation to this. I think it’s too early," he said.

Out of the 338 players who went into the IPL 2020 auction, only 62 succeeded in finding a franchise, with all teams filling up their eight overseas spots. It was a windfall for the Australians, led by Pat Cummins (KKR) who became the most expensive overseas buy in IPL history at Rs 15.5 crore.

Glenn Maxwell (KXIP) and Nathan Coulter-Nile (Mumbai Indians) too landed million-dollar deals. With as many as 13 Australians being signed, their absence could take the gloss off the IPL, should the tournament go ahead as planned without the overseas recruits.

As per the government directive, “all existing visas, except diplomatic, official, UN/International Organizations, employment, project visas, stand suspended till 15th April 2020. This will come into effect from 1200 GMT on 13th March 2020 at the port of departure.”

They may be granted ‘B-Sports’ Visa with multiple entry facility for 13 appropriate period. Such a foreign national shall comply with all the statutory obligations like payment of taxes, etc.”

Since B-Sports doesn't fall under the list of exceptions by the health ministry, it is unlikely that any overseas cricketer can join his IPL franchise before April 15.

While there is nothing wrong with your statement it doesn't make an unchangeable tournament - Its the biggest cricket tournament out of how many? I count 3

I don't know about India but coronavirus is spreading fast in UK.Next few weeks could see thousands of cases. The government is holding an emergency meeting right now.It looks like they will close schools for two months and ban large gatherings.Repub of Ireland is in a lock down.India has a huge population and is not geared to cope if the virus spreads rapidly. They should cancel IPL.It is just a bit of entertainment.Human lives must come first.

India should certainly cancel IPL, can't believe they are playing a useless odi series with SA, just to salvage their bruised egos post NZ series. And anyway Kohli and Shastri thot Odis are meaningless this year, so why waste time. India, and I am sure Pakistan as well, would be having huge number of undiagnosed cases of coronavirus. Our people don't believe in going to doctors for flu like issues and hence many people won't even know they are infected by a serious virus. So I will not give any importance to reported cases in India and Pakistani, the actual numbers will be significantly high.

All SA series matches to be played behind closed doors.

Players to travel via chartered planes.

Similar arrangements for IPL likely.

playing IPL in ghost stadium and with the ever so increasing scare and fear of corona virus I doubt that many foreign players would actually going to participate and be ready to risk of getting the virus.

The situation somewhat looks like playing under tight security as in Pakistan where players has to stay indoor most time over a period of 50 days. That is a very big call and decision to make for the players.

It would be very interesting to see whether players will opt for money and be ready to risk getting virus or play safe and avoid participation.

BCCI still have not made any official call of cancelling or playing on schedule but for not it is on schedule IPL played in ghost stadium. If the players opt out I think BCCI would eventually cancel it but they only have like two weeks to decide.

Coronavirus impact: IPL considers a season behind closed doors

The Ministry of Sports’ communication to BCCI makes it clear that the IPL cannot afford to allow spectators into stadiums.

Empty stadiums may now be the new normal, even for the glitzy IPL, usually played to packed audiences.
The league is considering a closed-door edition in an effort to avoid a complete cancellation of the 2020 season, slated to begin March 29, after a government directive asked for fans to be kept away from all sports events to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Ministry of Sports’ communication to BCCI makes it clear that the IPL cannot afford to allow spectators into stadiums.

“You are advised to adhere to the advisories issued by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and ensure that no public gathering takes place in any sporting event.

In the event, the sporting event cannot be avoided, the same could be done without allowing gathering of people, including spectators,” the Sports Ministry said in a letter to the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and all national sports federations, including the BCCI.

Reacting to the new developments, franchises say they have no option but to accept playing matches behind closed doors. “It’s better than having no IPL. That would be a bigger hit. Things will become clearer after the IPL governing council meets,” CEO of Chennai Superkings, Kashi Vishwanathan said.

The IPL governing Council will meet at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Saturday to decide the fate of the league. “We will discuss all the options available and decide the best course of action,” IPL Chief Brijesh Patel said, even as the BCCI maintained its silence over the issue.

The franchises are especially keen to find out if the GC will account for the financial hit franchises will have to take.

“Our sponsors have been asking to re-negotiate terms. With no fan engagement, no exposure to spectators, the sponsorship value comes under pressure. The deals are signed keeping in mind not just the broadcast eyeballs, but all other on-ground activations,” a franchise official said.

No ticket revenue

For the big city teams like Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai, the gate money losses will be heavy if the matches are played behind closed doors. They earn between 35-40 crores from ticket sales alone. Smaller teams earn between R18 to 20 crores.

The BCCI reserves the gate sales from the playoffs games for itself; last season, the board is said to have earned around R20 crore from that.

In comparison, broadcaster Star India is said to have earned over R2000 crore in advertisement revenue from the 2019 IPL season, something that would make the possible loss of ticket sales revenue easier to absorb.

No foreign players?

The other challenge BCCI is faced with is the possibility of an IPL without its foreign stars, or even the support staff, commentators, cameras crew, and event managers of the league, who come from various countries.

India has suspended all visas till April 15, with the exception of visas in the diplomatic, UN, Employment and Projects (those working on large infrastructure projects) categories.

Most leading overseas players—from England, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Australia and West Indies—are playing international cricket and are scheduled to come to India four or five days before the league, or after missing a few of the initial days.

Only the South Africa team, currently playing an ODI series, and Afghanistan team are in India currently.

Franchises are still waiting for clarification on whether the visas for foreign players are exempt from the suspension order. Usually, overseas players for the IPL come under the Business or “B” category, which is not exempt.

In 2018, the government introduced a category called B-Sports specifically for foreign players in commercial leagues like the IPL.

“It’s not clear if B3 visas, which players seek for entry in India for IPL are exempted or not. We will know soon,” said one top franchise official. PTI quoted a “BCCI official” saying that foreign players will not be able to come into the country till April 15.

“We have kept all bookings on hold as of now,” said a franchise official.

One of the suggestions likely to be explored by the IPL GC is to postpone the league—if the situation improves, then have a cramped schedule with more double headers. In the current schedule the double-headers are restricted to one per week on every Sunday.

Despite the uncertainty, many franchises like CSK and RCB have begun conducting coaching camps and net sessions. MS Dhoni, who currently doesn’t play international cricket, has hit the ground running from March 1 in CSK yellow at Chennai.

I think it’s best that IPL is cancelled. At this point containing Coronavirus should be utmost priority. Even NBA had cancelled the league.

GoI and BCCI should do the needful.

IPL can be played behind closed doors and with no spectators. Also if foreign players don’t participate, it will not be an issue because of local talent and Indian internationals.
Regarding the viewership, 99% of viewership will be outside the gates so not a big loss in this situation

No need to cancel, pay with limited spectators , spaced out and with all the necessary precautions. 8000-10000 in a 60,000 capacity stadium , will be safe . In extreme cases, play with empty stadium, everyone will be watching on TV/online , no need to cancel any sporting event.

An end of the day the money matters, what is financially better, playing in empty stadium or cancelling it altogether.

Ipl likely to be postponed till 15th april. Will be played behind closed doors.

The Indian Premier League 2020 has been postponed and the tournament could be played behind closed doors. Team owners have suggested that the T20 league be pushed back by a couple of weeks amid the coronavirus outbreak which has been declared a pandemic by the Wolrd Health Organisation.

India has banned visas till April 15 and it would be impossible for overseas stars to join the Indian Premier League. Earlier, according to reports, the franchises had said they were ready to play behind closed doors but not without their overseas players.

All stakeholders in the Indian Premier League have devised a formula so that there is no reduction in the number of matches. The postponement will also allow the foreign players to join the IPL from the start of the tournament.

The IPL Governing Council is meeting on March 14 to discuss the way ahead even as the BCCI said the two remaining ODIs of a 3-match series between India and South Africa would be played in front of empty stands.

On Friday, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said his government would not allow any IPL matches in the city with large gatherings.

"Avoid large gatherings. A lot of people might be thinking about whether it's right to take such extreme measures. In countries where preventive measures are being taken, only there it (coronavirus outbreak) could be regulated otherwise, it keeps spreading. We have told all DMs and SDMs to strictly follow all the coronavirus cases coming up," Sisodia told reporters.

"We have banned all sports-related gatherings. If BCCI comes up with some new format then it's up to them. But we are banning every such sports activity where there is a possibility of thousands of people gathering. Our intent is to avoid gathering and not stop people from practicing," Sisodia said.

Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope had also voiced his concerns over the IPL being held at a time when most of the world was taking extreme precautionary measures.

Tope said the government could either postpone the IPL matches or have the fixtures only for the televised audience.

"One thing is sure that there will be no sale of tickets," sources in the state government said, adding a final decision will be taken soon.

"After discussion, we have come to two options: either to postpone matches or to have matches without selling tickets," he said.

Meanwhile, the ODI series between Australia and New Zealand in Australia is also being played behind closed doors.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to suspend IPL 2020 till 15th April 2020, as a precautionary measure against the ongoing Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) situation.

The BCCI is concerned and sensitive about all its stakeholders, and public health in general, and it is taking all necessary steps to ensure that, all people related to IPL including fans have a safe cricketing experience.

The BCCI will work closely with the Government of India along with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and all other relevant Central and State Government departments in this regard.

How much of a difference 2-3 weeks are gonna make?

I hope virus disappears or cure is found soon but not sure if its gonna be as soon as April 15.

Maybe its just to have foreign players available if all of them are as some of them might want to be with their families but its big money involved for some of them.

Realistically it's going to be almost impossible to envisage a restart on the 15th of April. Some experts believe the virus will start peaking in May-June time.

The Indian public simply cannot be trusted to stay away from the grounds when high profile cricket is going on, so any IPL fixture taking place while a coronavirus risk is active will put the entire country at risk.

LOOL wut? That is an extremely high number people, that's like the average for some NBA games and college basketball games - which have been canceled. My own county just banned all gatherings with over 500 people and discourage gathering of over 250 people. Mosques across America have cancelled jummah we only average a couple hundred people. India should just cancel the IPL just like all leagues in America and Europe have postponed their seasons for now, shouldn't put players and officials at risk just for money.

IPL PSL all leagues should be cancelled. Playing in empty stadium isn't worth it anyways

No surprises. It would have been farcical if this wasn't done.

These money hungry foreign players played in the IPL and cried solidarity with India, lets not let the terrorists win for the IPL Millions, lets see if they can resist that money in the face of a severe illness risk now. My prediction, a few players will be willing to be compensated for that risk.

So your issue is that foreign players played in India after a terror attack?

IPL should be cancelled. We don't know if the coronavirus could spread in India which could affect players. Also playing in an empty stadium isn't the same.

They can take a break for one year! It will look even more exciting in the next year... They can cover up at least 50% of the loss... To compensate the remaining they can have another mini version overseas .... Its better to not take any risk this year and give it a rest...

So your issue is that foreign players played in India after a terror attack?

Well yes, i would like to see if they would have agreed to pay if the pay on offer was around $50,000-$100,000 instead of $1-2 million

Former batsmen Sunil Gavaskar and VVS Laxman said the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) should be held in empty stadiums if that serves everyone's best interests. Gavaskar said that there is an example of a cricket match being played behind closed doors in India.

"There is one example of an India-Pakistan match played in front of empty stands in Eden Gardens Kolkata after Sachin (Tendulkar) got run out and there was unrest in the crowd," Gavaskar said in a pre-match show for Star Sports.

"I think the game was stopped on that particular day but the next day it was continued in front of empty stands. So there is a precedent as far Indian cricket is concerned. So clearly if it has to happen then it can happen. Whatever it is the best for everyone that has to be taken into account. And if it's best for everyone to play in front of empty stands, so be it."

Laxman also said that as long as it is not risky for those who will have to be present in the stadium, it can be held behind closed doors.

"As long as it is not risky for players, the support staff, broadcasters, camera persons the tournament can go on and playing in front of empty stands is not a problem," he said.

"You see the way IPL is followed, millions of people watch it on TV whereas the spectators who come to the ground will be around 30-40 thousand, based on the capacity of the ground.

"Yes, as cricketers you want to play in front of a large crowd but eventually, if it is risky then we are better off playing in empty stands, making sure everyone's well being is taken care of and the people sitting in their drawing rooms can enjoy the live action."

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had on Friday decided to defer the start of the IPL to April 15.

These money hungry Indian Cricketers are so drunk with BCCI money and power, they have zero regards for the well being for the players

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly on Friday said a decision on the future course of action on the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be taken after a meeting with the franchisees on Saturday.

Following the union health ministry’s guidelines that public meetings cannot be held for now due to fears of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the BCCI decided to suspend the league till April 15. However, there is no clarity on whether the tournament will start from April 15 itself or whether a revised date will be announced.

The former India captain admitted that it’s too early to make a prediction. According to the original schedule, the tournament was scheduled to begin on March 29 and end on May 24. Asked whether the window will be extended, Ganguly said: “It’s too early to comment on that. We will discuss all the aspects, see how things go and decide accordingly.”

However, Ganguly said that for the board, the safety of the players and spectators is of prime importance. “Our priority is safety and that’s why we decided to postpone it. We will see how things go and then get a better idea (about the venues),” the board chief said.

Ganguly and BCCI secretary Jay Shah met Uday Shankar, chairman of Star India, the official broadcaster of the IPL. Asked whether the franchisees were happy with the board’s decision to suspend the league for now, Ganguly stated, “Nobody has a choice.”

psl is still going on..

Its ending in less than a week. Also many foreign players have been provided flights by management to go home as travel restrictions can also come into play.

The owners and the executives of all the eight Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises gathered at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) headquarters on Saturday to deliberate on the future of the tournament this year.

Bollywood superstar and Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) principal owner, Shah Rukh Khan, too, attended the meeting along with the representatives of the other franchises and in an hour-long conversation with BCCI chief Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah, it was decided that they will wait till the 'last week of March' for a clearer picture.

BCCI, in a statement, reiterated its stand of putting safety and well-being of fans, athletes and employees as a priority.

"The board will continue to monitor and work closely with Government of India, state governments and other state regulatory bodies to decide on the future course of action in the best interest of public health," it added.

"The franchises were given seven-eight options and it was just a basic discussion on how to go about it," one of the franchise bosses, who attended the meeting, told Sportstar.

Window to be extended?

While there was no official word, it is understood that the franchises did discuss the possibility of extending the window till May 31. One of the franchise officials, remarked: "There were a couple of other options as well." It has been learnt that the Board will speak to other overseas cricket bodies to decide in case the window can be extended at least till the first week of June.

According to the original schedule, the tournament was to start on March 29 and get over on May 24. But with the health ministry issuing stricter guidelines in the wake of coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak fears, the tournament had to be suspended till April 15.

"We have been informed that the league can maximum be extended up to May 31. It's not clear on how things will pan out, but as of now, we are looking at every possible options," one of the franchise owners said.

However, he indicated that there were deliberations on whether double-headers could be increased, now that the tournament is starting after nearly 18 days.

"The idea was to basically sit together and find out what could be the possibilities. Things are not clear as of now, so all the franchises discussed on what could be the possible approach in various situations," the franchise boss said.

Money not a factor now

Kings XI Punjab co-owner, Ness Wadia, said: "At this point of time, the safety is the top priority. Now, it is incorrect for us to even think about one rupee. Money is not the factor now, we have to be extremely careful about the situation and public safety is very important."

With restrictions being imposed on visas for overseas players and support staff, teams have called off their scheduled practice sessions and for Kings XI Punjab, overseas support staff -- including fielding coach Jonty Rhodes -- have gone back home.

Delhi Capitals owner, Parth Jindal said: Health and safety of the public is most important thing and of paramount importance. As things progress and evolve, BCCI will call for another meeting to discuss all the options."

"We will closely monitor the advisory issued by the health ministry and react accordingly. In case the games are played behind closed doors, we need to ensure that the safety standards of the players, groundsmen and support staff are not compromised. That was one of the major talking points," the franchise owner said.

Visa puzzle

The franchises are also keen on sorting out the visa puzzle. As per the rules listed by the government, “all existing visas, except diplomatic, official, UN/International Organizations, employment, project visas, stand suspended till 15th April 2020.”

Since B-Sports - or even Business Visa is not specified in the list of exceptions by the Health Ministry, the overseas cricketers can't come down to India before April 15. "That's one of the major areas the Board needs to address. We will have to keep a tab on the development and see what happens to the guidelines," a franchise boss said. "The Board will be in constant touch with the ministry and keep us informed."

Contrary to reports, there were no discussions about shifting the tournament out of India. The IPL Governing Council is scheduled to meet later in the afternoon for another round of discussion.

These money hungry Indian Cricketers are so drunk with BCCI money and power, they have zero regards for the well being for the players

Players are free to skip and not play.

Your problem is that the league is Indian.

Just like you have problem that players visited India post a terror attack.

FYI international cricket continued in India post terrorist attacks, not only IPL.

I have no issues with the league being Indian. I do have issues with double standards and people compromising on their moral values in exchange for big $$$

IPL deserves a cancellation for a change. The way the BCCI, Indian ex cricketers, pundits, present cricketers, celebrities and fans have celebrated the success of the IPL, the riches that have fallen upon Indian Cricket in the last ten plus years while Pakistan Cricket faced its biggest crisis and no one even bothered or cared to help Pakistan Cricket out at all during this time period, Karma is sweet

Whats the point of playing IPL behind closed doors. IPL and fans goes hand to hand. This isn't the world cup. At this point, even superstars around the world would choose life > money I have to assume.

Its ending in less than a week. Also many foreign players have been provided flights by management to go home as travel restrictions can also come into play.

Seriously!!!!!

Imagine one or two affected people in crowd, it will spread like wildfire

BCCI did the right thing by pushing / cancelling IPL

Loser’s mentality. Blaming others for your own incompetence, enjoying others failures(Its not failure for sure) as your success.

Not everything is PCB or Pakistani incompetence, it was clear as day/light that the BCCI went out of its way to ensure the PCB and Pakistani Cricket were financially impoverished since 2009 and the BCCI, Current Indian Cricketers, ex Indian Cricketers, Media Pundits and Indian fans thoroughly enjoyed the situation

IPL hasnt started so its easier to make such decisions then during the tournament. Anyways, I am not sure how much the situation will improve by April 15 the intended start date of IPL. Though I hope things get better soon.

What are the double standards? What morals and who decides them?

Lol. And then you say you dont have a problem because the league is Indian.

Why should people help pakistan? Does the world owe favours to Pakistan? What is this sense of entitlement?

You wish someone's failue, Because you are less successful than it, and then you talk of Karma.

What did Bcci do? Please tell.

And no BCCI owes no obligations to PCB. So make sure you give some solid points and not what your sense of entitlement tells you.

You know what the double standards are, the place is unsafe to play cricket in, our families wont allow us, there are health concerns but when you throw pay cheques of $1-2 million, automatically the place becomes safe to play cricket in, automatically the families have no objections to playing cricket in a place where terrorism has taken place in and this is exactly what happened in India after the terrorist attacks where the then England captain Kevin Pieterson cried through the roof top solidarity with India where even his own team mates where disgusted by his blatant IPL desperation

Oh yes the major test cricketing nations do. England played their part by spearheading ICC committees on helping to revive the return of International Cricket to Pakistan. South Africa played its part by allowing its cricketers to play the World Eleven games in Pakistan. Zimbabwe and West Indies played their part by coming to Pakistan. India with its financial muscle could have easily played its part by encouraging the return of International Cricket to Pakistan its South Asian neighbor with whom after subtracting political disputes it shares a rich culture with

But nope, the Indians decided to take full advantage of this situation by lobbying wholeheartedly with the likes of Afghanistan, Bangladesh and even Sri Lanka to boycott Pakistan and to refuse to help it. It was blatantly clear that the BCCI, Current and ex Indian players, Fans wanted Pakistan Cricket to suffer eternally during this time period.

The BCCI shamelessly went back on their MOU which they signed with the PCB in 2014 in exchange for the Big 3 votes.

International events continued in India post terrorist attacks. Ipl, CWG, Hockey WC, Tennis and Badminton tournaments of repute etc etc. So it was not 1 or 2 million dollars but the fact that players felt safe. No player was attacked or injured in a terror attack in India.

Most English players play in the IPL, not only KP.

Terrorist attacks can happen anywhere. Security failing to protect players is a different thing altogether.

As i said, you have a sense of entitlement, that tells you that if players go to India, they must go to Pakistan. Sorry to tell you, but things dont work like that. Situation in both countries are not comparable. Ofcourse you can deny that. But again, that will do nothing to convince anyone.

Thats your opinion. The arbitration by three independent judges said something else.

Please give something solid.

Let me remind you again. No one owes pakistan anything.

No one owes pakistan anything. Has england toured pakistan? SA? Nopes.

India doesn't owe anything to Pakistan. Bcci didnt stop anyone. If it did, rest assured it would have been done. Bcci owes nothing to pakistan and isnt obligated to help it. That doesn't mean bcci is stopping anyone. It simply wants nothing to do with pakistan. And thats a very prudent stand.
