Iftikhar Ahmed has proved to be such a useful cricketer over the last couple of months. Played some outstanding knocks in PSL and finished the innings well for his team and here in Pakistan Cup he is showing ability to anchor the innings as well at a good pace. Bowls useful off spin and finished his quota of 10 overs in the last game with economy under 4.

Not sure why wasnt he tried against Aussies, we lacked hitting ability which he clearly has and his off spin would have been handy too in UAE.
 
Iftikhar Ahmed deserves a long run after WC

A good number 5 player for Pakistan

He isnt what Pakistan LOI setup needs right now.

He can be an achorer of the innings but doesnt have the big shots so he cant be in LOI setup With Babar and Haris already there as he is also someone who anchors the innings and we have too many of those who are proven as well.
 
Every Punjab batsman batted at a strike rate above 100, except Sohail Tanvir who got out on 0.
 
Punjab finish on 341/6 in 50.0 overs after being into bat by KPK; Iftikhar Ahmed top-scored with 105 (101), Sami Aslam (68) and Khurram Manzoor (57) also put in useful contributions; For KPK Sohail Khan took 3/55
 
Kamran akmal, salman but, and wahab riaz all are captaining. 4th team is leading by umar gul.
This shows the caliber of this tournament.
Not a single captain is playing intl cricket right now.
Three of them belongs to famous model town group and one is a long discarded aged bowler.

Players like Khushdil Shah, Iftikhar Ahmed, Asif Ali, Adil Amin etc and in future Saif Badar should be groomed for white ball cricket. They have the ability to actually dominate the bowling attack when required but need confidence and exposure of international cricket.
 
Have to say Khusdil is among the cleanest hitters in PAK and he can bowl as well. A bit leg sidish, but compared to Asif Ali, his domestic List A stats are like 45/95 (should grow after today's game); both's FC stats are remarkably close, though Khusdil has a slightly better average of 26 :(

Atleast he should have been given chancea in PSL by PZ.
 
How come Khushdil Shah wasn't taken to the UAE instead of Saad Ali?

What a massive hitter this guy is and he has good stats to back it up!
 
Be whatever name or tournament, looks like the main team from Punjab will end at bottom.
 
Plenty of high scoring games so far, this shows that the Domestic Cricket wickets are now improving and batsmen are having a good time with the ball coming on to the bat
 
Inzi is corrupt for not selecting Kushdil and Iftiqar in the 23 man shortlist.

Inzi is the best chief selector we ever had. Just because he selected deserving Imam ul haq he is called all sorts😪

Scored 11 in his next 13 deliveries and then finally hit a boundary to get to his century in the 47th over!

He wasted key deliveries at the death when Punjab should have been looking to accelerate (with plenty of batting to come).
 
Brilliant innings from a player who deserves his chance to represent Pakistan in near future, the way he carried his innings from a position where winning seemed impossible is truly remarkable, not to mention that he finished off the innings, rather than throwing his wicket away like his partner Adnan did.
 
Everyone will look at Khushdil's score and go gaga.

Based on what I've seen though, he's nowhere near international standard, at best Anwar Ali esque.


All leg side hoicks. That too against sub standard spinners. The typical batsman kind we're producing these days, dominating the domestic scene.

Bro, only leg side game, only targeting sub standard spinners. Too many of this kind in the domestic scene.

Will be worked out in 3-5 international matches, wouldn't be able to score anything. Easy to limit his scoring shots, and he's done.

:))) People already angry at Inzi for not selecting him in the Aus series, outrage at PSL selectors as well.

Well I have a news for PPers, he won't be getting selected anytime soon.

You need to follow progress of Nasir Nawaz. He is stroke maker and cant hit pace.

Or maybe he just doesn't have the ability? When I have seen him play he seems to target the leg side a lot. This can be stopped by bowlers .

He knows how to score at domestic level. He wasn't even trying to hit boundaries as he neared his 100.

May be in T20 then. I saw few overs of batting today (between his 35-125), and some of the shots were mind blowing - easily clearing 85+ metres. At least, should get a chance in PSL - he is still relatively young, and has natural ability to hit with brutal power, a professional batting coach can bring some discipline in his batting, which can be handy for T20, as he can bowl as well. 23 (12) and 1/34 of 4 overs isn't a bad return in PSL.

What’s the latest on him. I’ve seen one video of him and he’s the most excited I’ve been about a pak batsmen since I saw Babar Azam tearing up u-15s a while ago. But I don’t know why I’ve got that hype after just one video, and really want to see more of him.

Was gutted Islamabad didn’t play him more.

that shows how bad the domestic team and bowlers are... pakistan is not producing any younis, yousuf, inzi, anwar, miandad or salim malik..

He got injured bro and then not selected in Pak cup due to reasons i dont know.

To be fair, his batting has improved a lot. He is no longer the “gutsy tail-lender” he was few years back.
 
Great innings but he was a flop when he played PSL, maybe not international material.
