Gill and Rohit threw away their wickets playing stupid shots. Atleast Jaiswal was set up nicely. Until then he looked solid.
 
Burger coetze and rabada all look well built.

Jansen is tall but not that built.

Asian teams need to bulk their bowlers up.
 
i think South africans deliberately bowl down the leg side with leg slip in place. It is a wicket taking mode for them.
 
The three wickets that have fallen so far, these batsmen seem less interested and in a hurry. I know they are playing Test cricket after a long time, but that shouldn't happen at the international level.

They avoided ODI/T20 series to get into TEST mode lol They are still in that mode apparently.
 
Absolute joke pitch. I an all for low scores etc. Seaming track but this misbehaves weird lol.
 
You batting depth in these parts as batting gets easier towards the end. I remember guys like Symcox making 100. Azhar mahmood also got a 100. Pandya made 93
 
Iyer is trying hard it seems but he just isn't good enough in such conditions. That's how it is sometimes.

This is not the pitch they play in A tours. They are generlaly flat. He would have flashed and edged for sure. You need temperament here more than technique.

Aus have the most fair pitches in the world. That is a major reason behind their success. SA and NZ doctor their pitches like crazy, Eng too are expert pitch doctors. SC is targeted unfairly in this regard though it must be said Pak except during Misbah era doctor their pitches to suit opponents.
 
Looks pitch will get flatter as test series progresses. But it's terrible right now. Weird bounce.

Runs are important, doesn't matter how they come. We were told how Gill is tailor made for such conditions lol.

Sarfraz has weight issues. I totally get what india is doing but sometimes talent should be persisted with. Some people may look fat but can still.be fit. They just don't have the genetics to get lean
 
SO Rinku is still there with the team. If only one of the bowler could bowl spin we could have played Rinku in place of Ashwin
 
India should win this game. SA have spilled their chances. Batting last always difficult in Centurion

Variety in SA attack is a big advantage. Tall guys, Two left armers, One hits the deck. COuple of guys swing.
 
Iyer surprised me. Looked uncomfortable but he is a tough guy. Has big power. Not bad. But I am still not convinced by him vs bounce

South Africa missed big apportunity to get two more wickets considering pitch .india is at good position
 
I like the king Kohli and Iyer approach. They are not going in shell instead scoring Runs whenever apportunity came
 
Finally David Bedingham appears for South Africa. He's been toiling away in County Cricket for years. Hopefully he can strengthen a middle-order that's looked fairly weak since the retirement of their stalwarts.

They are playing at home so batting is good enough .

That is what Jaiswal tried to do. They had 5 slips i think for him. So lot of gaps. HE tried to play shot and edged. You still need to pick the right ball to score of. So far these guys have done that.

His overall game has improved far too much to be ignored. And he has power that is second only to Rohit. Im still not convinced he's a Test batter good enough to bat in SENA conditions but I guess it was worth a shot after that World Cup where his performances were pretty good.

He looks more secure than Gill who does well just in Aussie conditiosn where the condition suits him.

India just has to keep scoring quickly getting stuck is not an option. One ball will get you. These guys are not technical wizards. KL Rahul may survive for some time.

Can't do a lot first up after lunch. THis is a pattern i have noticed in SA. You seemingly look good then you collapse
 
Just turned this on i have never ever seen a more inexperienced saffers team than this. India will blow them away if they get more than 200 on this green wicket

Elgaar has played 85 tests. Markram, Bavuma, Petersen are experienced. Petersen was the reason why India lost the last series. Jansen can bat like a specialist here. His batting also helped them win the last series. COetze can bat too.
 
Play that.

I think India have actually done well getting to 107-5. Very challenging conditions.
