Looks like a busy little batsman. So far very impressive. What do you think?
 
is that Rizwan? I swear I thought it was Asad Shafiq playing...
 
I like him. Give him at least 10 matches and see where he is with his development.

Looks good and certainly possess better brain and game awareness then brainless :uakmal

I really hope, that Babar also bring something to the table like Rizwan.

He will.

These two are the best bats to come out of Pak in recent years.
 
Very impressive, and the sign of a quality player is that he can adapt to different roles even if it's not natural to him. He's a top order batsman, but he showed good application today. Definitely a thinking cricketer.

No need of overhyping him and dubbing him as a future star, but he couldn't have had a better debut.
 
seems like he has a similar skill level to sohaib maqsood.

Its good it will make a healthy competition between these two for the number 4/5 spot.
 
Good middle overs player and good against spin
but horrible off the backfoot. Cant hook and pull
 
The best feature has been his intent to get a single after hitting a boundary, rather than getting carried away. His skill level might be similar to Maqsood, but he knows how to play along the ground and your heart is not in your mouth whenever he takes strike.

Very early days, but that's the first impression.
 
Good start to his career, played without fear or worry, but so have the past 3-4 debutants who showed potential early on and then dwindled out (Maqsood, Sharjeel).

The thing he's doing well though is scoring heavily with shots along the ground and not relying heavily on aerial shots.

Someone said before his debut that he is a worse batsman than Sarfraz, but I have to say he looked much better than him with a wider variety of shots.
 
To be honest I am not that impressed. There are issues with his batting technique. Dont hold your hopes up!

Sarfraz is not a proper batsman, but he has found a way to score runs. Rizwan is definitely a more orthodox player. I would like to see him move up the order in due time, but it's going to be difficult at the moment.
 
When will we play all 50 overs next in ODI cricket?

I thought our youngsters will have it in them to win it but too much dead weight around them at the moment.
 
Good for slow low pitches ala sarfraz. Doesnt have the talent od akmal but does seem to have a better temperament.
 
He should bat at the top order. Will really score many boundaries in the PP and Pakistan should take advantage of this.
 
Quality backfoot player which is a rarity. I say that Haris Sohail should be moved aside for Rizwan if the former doesn't show better application. Rizwan is potentially our future #3.
 
Will be hounded with short stuff.

Looked good until playing the short ball.

Good news is he can work on it.

Don't know if he has the desire or will to work on it though.
 
First impression is good but he has some weakness against spin and bouncers, which he needs to overcome

Elegant player to watch, should ideally bat in top 4
 
Same pattern again. A batsman plays one good inning and some fans start comparing him to other players.

Just like people started comparing umar akmal to sachin, haris to anwar and maqsood to inzi. Hold your horses for 30 matches atleast.

I dont think Rizwan is being compared to anybody by mass Pakistan fans

We all know he has weaknesses and is no where close to an outstanding talent
 
Idk why people saying he is a good backfoot player.
Was lucky twice to be dropped/no man's land on short balls.

But by Pakistani standards, looks a decent batsman. (Since no one is a good backfoot player)
Need to use him well, he is not a power player to play beyond number 4.

looks a decent Player.!! Just can't count this innings on a highway against a minnow team where even the likes Of Azhar Ali scored at almost 100 SR.. He need to repeat this consistently and against better teams
 
Some of his shots were premeditated and played some bad shots against the bouncer. Overall looked good but too early to make an impression.
 
he seems to have a sort of issue with short ball ... but for a start it was awesome let's hope he can work on his weaknesses rather than other talented batsman of our country that refuse to do that
 
Lets not put pressure on him, he played well, I was impressed with his strike rotation, he should be given a long run at 4 or 5 and be given a clear role, he has got the potential so he should be backed.
 
Very good. Played exactly how I thought he would. Busy cricketer and 'punchy' as I have previously mentioned.

Needs to work on his big hitting, but then again he should NOT bat in lower order.

He plays at one down in domestics iirc, though I am content with giving Haris a longer stint af number 3. A little dissapointing from him today, throwing away another 50.

But all these new guys coming through the system loom extremely suspect to anything short.

If Hafeez opens and Rizwan bats at 3 with Sarfraz batting in Rizwan's current slot, our batting unit might have better shape.

Okay. But i said that because he seemed to have the power game too. Which is a must for a team who lack a finisher. All other batters in your team seem to be accumulators excepting Sarfraz.. So...

Fawad clearly is a better fit at 3/4 IMO
 
Haris I believe is more so a #5 batsman than a #3.

Rizwan looked more the prototypical #3 batsman to me (Fawad fits this bill also).

Very good prospect, among very few surprisingly coming from recent PAK generation with a back-foot & horizontal bat game, playing on those #@!&%$ PCB calls FC wickets. I think, his feet movement is a bit rigid, which is obvious, at FC level he can hit through the line standing still. PAK players 'll not learn to use their feet against spinners as long as spinners can get lots of wickets in domestics, by just darting a one spot whole day long, so I didn't expect that from him.

With my little understanding of cricket, I think the Coaches of Mumbai, Delhi club (or school) teams 'll bat him at 3 or might even open with him - since PAK is struggling to maintain asking rate of 12/13 in last 15 overs & he can spank a bit, hope PAK THICK TANK doesn't send him at 7 or even 8, ala Afridi style role. MoHa is the modern Viv Richards (Bowls a bit off-spin as well) - team 'll be best benefited if only he bats at 1, 2 or 3; so Rizwan should feel lucky that he was sent at 5............

Harris sohail, Sarfraz are his peers, it is only natural comparing players playing in same team with similar experience, comparing with greats is over the top
 
To be really honest, would be a walking wicket on bouncy tracks. Back foot game is very weak, will be gone in an year or two.

U overrate haris. He is not any better than shehzz.
Like the latter he gets stuck and isnt great against spin.
Dont knw how u called him our best bat

He cant pull brother. What made u believe that he can be good off the backfoot. Only shehz, hafeez to an extent and the two akmals as well as babar azam hv ability of the backfoot. All others r bunnies

There is also a thing called cricketing acumen.
Seems like a player with good mentality and a good game on the front foot against spinners n medium pacers but he has no backfoot game
 
Right now the best we got is haris sohail, as aamir sohail pointed out he kills his back lift. ( need to work on that asap )

Good technique doesn't always results in good scores.. example Asad Shafiq

Bad technique doesn't always results in bad scores.. example Dhoni (and a hundred others)

Haris has issues, but Shehzad itself is an issue. There lies the difference.

I was talking of youngsters so can't go back and bring Kami and Nazir.
And for Shahzad and Umar, since they have been dropped for attitude/temperament reasons, I would never want selectors to rush them back even if Umer is our best lower order player.
I said that in another post as well, let them work on their game and other issues while playing domestic cricket where there is lesser pressure and only bring them back if there is a visible significant improvement in them.
Plus that will sent a wrong precedence that guys having wrong attitude can't be dropped for greater amount of time and will be brought back when team needs them even if they haven't worked on their discipline.

I think haris could be our long term middle order, just needs to stop throwing away his wicket. shehzad on other hands was either hit or miss, low strike and had problem with rotating strikes.

I think, I saw him sometimes in Pentanglar as well. His grip & back-foot position tells that he is a bottom-hand squire of the wicket player.

Shehzad & Hafeez are not back-foot players - they can pull or cut if the ball is short. But, you make MoHa smell few balls & then pitch something up & going away...........Styen got him 15 or 16 times in the same fashion. Shehzad is being tied down to lots of dots, bowling just short of length, back-foot players mostly 'll use the width of the crease to turn those either side of leg umpire for a single - Shehzad hits it straight to mid-wicket most times.

Back-foot player is the style, comfort zone - you have to notice how a player plays a good length ball. Kohli is a good puller, but you 'll see a perfect length ball he plays mostly on front foot, Rahne does exactly the opposite.

KAkmal is a back-foot player, Umar could have been an all-round player with a good pull & cut.

I think you are overestimating Rizwan, He is actually weak against short ball, I saw him getting out in that fashion in Pentangular, against Kenya and even today he got 2 chances...

I saw some good things but he needs immense improvement. And he has severe issues against spin too
 
Look really good played sone good shots. I was impressed..amir sohail said he was good on the back foot and i thought he left well..well organised player..i can see him hitting a hundred quicker than mr throwing away a start haris..
 
He needs to use his feet against the spinners
That 3rd four towards mid-wicket was the highlight of his innings
Even though the outfield was pretty quick but still a very difficult shot to execute
Also got out on a pull shot but was generally comfortable playing on the back foot through the off-side

May be, but I 'll bat him in top 3 & give the license to go after. PAK should use MoHa & Sarfraz at 4 & 5/6, otherwise it 'll be difficult chasing in current context.
 
Can we leave haris at number 3 with fawad at 4 and rizwan at 5 for this series .please!!!!!

We have a distinct lack of fire power in the lower middle order.. Sarfaraz at 6 will help but we need Maqsood or somebody at number 7 who can also up the run rate..

I hv also seen rizwan in the pentangular. He is always late when the ball is short. Plus when he pulls, his back leg lifts in the air as all weight is on the front foot.

If bottom handedness equated to good backfoot play then, asad shafiq, misbah, afridi and even sarfaraz would hv been good pullers.

I dont agree on ur assesment on shehz as he doesnt plant his front foot at all.
He is always camped on the backfoot and always puts the short ball away with ease either side off the wicket.
As for him pushing back of a length deliveries to midwickt is concerned, the reason for that is he is a weak onside player.
He doesnt wait for the ball and just pushes at it.
Just watch how kohli flicks the same ball to backward square leg while ahmed pushes it to midwicket.
Its a question of watching the ball on to the bat and playing it at the last moment.
Some players hv this as a blindspot, they r unsure of balls aimed back of a length.

Sarfaraz cant hit well. He is best at 4,5 as he is our best player vs spin
