Mohammad Rizwan "The criticism seems to be dying down a bit, so I must be doing something right"

The likes of Miller and Pollard should have wrapped up that match yesterday.

Given the runs needed and the wickets in hand, they should have won that match.

Batting side have to take in consideration Rauf and Shaheen will be bowling atleast 3 out of 5 overs at the death.
 
Rossouw's innings was overrated. Rizwan's knock of 28 off 34 balls stole the show for me. Misbah would certainly proud of this knock.

Rizwan was disappointed and disinterested today

If Quetta scored 140, Rizwan could have at least got a 50
 
Did the job that was needed today.

Led the team very well and provided good support for Rilee Rossouw.

Easy win for his boys.

I actually quite liked Sarfaraz the captain. His shouting behind the stumps gave me a headache sometimes but having seen a statute like clueless Babar in the field, I would prefer Sarfaraz.

If this was his breakthrough season, we'd be going absolutely gaga over this guy.

As it's been a few years now it's just another day at the office for Rizwan. Unreal performances from an unreal cricketer.

Between our Big 3 - Shaheen, Babar and Rizwan....i think our MVP might actually be Rizzy.

Unreal was something that McCullum did the other day, Malik is doing just as good if not better, where's your cheerleading of this unreal cricketer Shoaib Malik?
 
Batted beautifully, captained the team so well, took a very good catch, spoke well at the post match interview.

But I'm sure critics will find something wrong today.

unless some of the other teams do something special Rizwan looks like he ll lead his team to a psl win this year

I've been critical of Rizwan's offside game recently but today he scored a wonderful hundred. Well played.
 
Simon Dull being critical of rizwans slow innings early . You Canot make up for lost opportunities later on no matter you score a 100. This exactly is case with Iftikhar he played a maiden of neesham and ended up with good score but actually isn’t anything impactful . Meanwhile Mohammad Harris his cameos are better than those big scores . His innings of 18 eased the pressure of PZ against QG in last game

Problem with such innings is that if he gets out when he was 37 from 34, his side would be in big trouble. This happens very often with Pakistan and with Babar usually starting off in a similar fashion, this problem is just compounded.

High risk approach which I personally do not agree with in T20s.

people who watched ball to ball would know the reality, Rizwan got lucky that he was able to restore whatever dot he played otherwise it would have been the same old story of slow strike rate.

Simon Doull did speak the uncomfortable truth that Rizwan fans do not want to hear.

Rizwan's knock came off today and ended up in a narrow win however this run a ball approach in the powerplay isn't sustainable. Luckily the next World T20 tournament isn't taking place this year.

It is always interesting how Rizwan manages to stay not out. Is there a stat on this? How come this OPENER persistently stays not out?

This is actively increasing the average. Many many tricks up the sleeve of this guy. Never fails an opportunity to impress his peers and supporters. Now he is gonna end up on the top of the PSL batting list. I am calling it.

Pakistan T20 Cricket will never be the same again if he wins PSL as captain. Dark days ahead, so buckle up buckaroo.

We can’t judge his innings based on assumptions. Who is to say how much Miller would’ve scored?

It’s a fact that Rizwan was able to push on and cover up for his slow start. But as I said, this approach won’t always work, especially when you open with Babar. And when it doesn’t work, you leave your team in huge hole.

One batsman failing should not have that big of an impact on the team result - that’s my problem with this approach

Ever wonder why he has to prove them wrong again and again? Because he keeps proving them right again and again too.
 
Whats more impressive alongside his personal performance is the fact hes proving to be a great captain once again and leading multan to an impressive top of the table place

There are others who are floundering in one capacity or another whilst rizwan continues to impress in every facet of his game
 
He made a hundred at a good strike rate which deserves credit.

Issue being the team were 114-1 after 14.
Pakistan have stumbled many times in the last 5 overs.

Needs to go aggressive from the start.

Took his team to 196 while having a higher SR than anyone else on the team. The fact he's still being criticized is insane.

Some people need to man up and admit that they just don't like the guy personally.

Rossouw did, and despite being a much more aggressive batsman than Rizwan managed 29 off 21. Next to no chance that a new batsman would have played at the same rate that Rizwan did in his last 20 balls. Having said that, should have scored more in the first 40

That says it all stats tell you everything other things are our opinions.

Let’s not live in the past and your justification is not related to my original point. International bowlers (good ones) have figured him out. Look at the last World Cup. Every international team has good bowlers. His T20 International career should be over.

Yes absolutely make hay if the bowlers don’t use their brains - and his fans lap it up, but be realistic in international cricket.

Struggled and couldn't time the ball.
 
I remember when Kamran Akmal used to lead the run scoring charts in previous editions of the PSL. It means nothing especially if you're going to score run a ball during the powerplay and struggle against any lateral movement. Looking clueless against Shoaib Malik is not a good sign for Pakistan's batting going into the ODI World Cup in India later this year.

There’s also a separate factor as well.

And that’s options. Opening options. Middle order options. At much superior s/rates.

RizBabar used to be the only sure thing in the Pakistan batting department. That’s not necessarily the case anymore.

The new coaching staff and selection committee have some decisions to make.

I hope whatever they do, they don’t completely non off RizBabar, because in the right context and format, both players have a lot to contribute.
