Mumbai Indians defeat Chennai Super Kings by one run to win IPL title

that's not towards Ashwin, it's more against Umesh, that was a length ball, a proper batsman should've send that to Six.. Yadav almost give Kohli to another heart attack..

That was some Sarfraz type gaali galoch to teammate. Yadav almost always deserve it though. Man is always bowling test match length in any given situation.

My bad, interpreted incorrectly. Was the swearing necessary?

I hope so close to the WC, this IPL isn't a reflection of key Indian players - none Sharma, Kuldeep, Shami, Dhawan seems to be in top form.

Dhawan is doing okay this season, even if he wasn't he would still be the least of my concern, it is Kuldeep's form worrying me the most. A low on confidence wrist spinner can be a disaster.

Dhawan actually has gotten into some very good form of late - 97*(63), 7(8), 35(22), 56(41), 54(27) are his last 5 innings. He has made some technical and mental adjustments which he is attributing to the turnaround.

Shami, leaving being crushed by AB aside, has been in very good form. Bowling fast and accurate.

Indian xi current form

Rohit - no form at all, think he is unfit and will be a disaster.
Dhawan - ICCDhawan coming back to form
Kohli - average by his standards, v good for most people
Dhoni - back to form but limited game at his age
Shankar - average
Kedar - terrible
Pandya - excellent
Bhuvi / Chahal - average
Kuldeep - terrible
Shami - good
Bumrah - v good

All this is in t20s though. Some of above players are better T20 players and other are better odi players.

It's difficult to judge players from T20 for ODI predictions and I haven't followed IPL much to be honest. But, INDs success will be built on top 3 batsmen and 30 overs of JB, Shami & Kuldeep, and may be all-round input from Pandeya .... others are random squad members - you replace Chahal, Jadeja by Ashwin, or Shankar, Kedar by ATR or DK by Pant ... hardly matters. Of that fav 7 if I say, only may be JB & Pandeya are matching their reputation, others are below per.

Unless top 3 pulls socks in WC, it won't be that easy.

KKR making tactical mistakes here . Lyyn has been complete failure , should have no place in the team.
KKR should open with Gill and Narine.

176 is the target

Kartik played well , but still very much manageable score

KKR need bowlers to get early wickets

Why RR not learning.. Unadkat always goes for run and they always gives him death overs... also Archer's 2nd last over also poor, batsman struggled to hit pacy balls and he decided to bowl slower ones which Karthik easily hit 6s..

just checked RR squad, they've Mana Vohra then why they're not giving him chances.. also they played 6 bowlers today... strange..

KKR has got three quick wickets , can they can through 2 - 3 tidy overs here and put pressure on Royals.

98 required from last 10 overs .

RR still has batting to come. KKR need wickets here to keep themselves in the game

This Riyan Parag kid is going to the real future superstar for India in the coming days! And he's an allrounder too! When the hacks like Pants and Shaws can be overhyped to the moon, why not the real deal Parag?

Because I'm sure you know we are waiting for him to make some runs for Assam. He obviously has loads of talent.

I guess top 3 will deliver again for india in the wc. While Dhawan seems to be getting back on track, Kohli has never even had a very good ipl except for one season. I do not think his form in ipl is of any worry especially with formats being different. Rohit Sharma at the moment is looking a bit out of form but i guess he does posses emough ability to overcome his problems and perform as always in the wc. Kuldeep surely is short of confidence but i guess getting dropped from playing 11 is good for him. He is a very good bowler and will work on his flaws to get back to giving good performances.
At this moment Dhawan too is probably starting to match his reputation. Kohli is not a problem. Rohit and Kuldeep need to start performing and get back in form. Shami has been decent with some poor some okayish and some excellent spells.
One player i feel you missed out is Kl Rahul. Although he is not a certain starter in playing 11, if he can make no.4 position his own, he will solve india's middle order problems as well as finishing problems. This would make 8 very good players. Other 3 will be from shankar/jadhav, bhuvi/jadeja/chahal and Ms Dhoni. Thia squad if firing i think should be able to get the wc.

KKR vs RR: Isn’t he an impressive young man? - Steve Smith on Riyan Parag

17-year-old Riyan Parag announced himself on the grand stage of IPL 2019 with a level-headed knock off 47 off just 31 balls, setting up a three-wicket win for Rajasthan Royals over Kolkata Knight Riders in Match 43 at the Eden Gardens and everybody was in awe of the Assam-born batsman, including his skipper Steve Smith.

“Riyan Parag .. isn’t he an impressive young man? He played very composed like a seasoned campaigner,” said Smith during the post-match presentation.

Parag came into bat after RR lost Smith in the eighth over, and even though he lost senior partners Ben Stokes and Stuart Binny at the other end, he kept his composure to play out a probing spell from KKR spinners Piyush Chawla and Sunil Narine.

And when the pacers were introduced in to the attack, Parag got going and accelerated. He combined with Shreyas Gopal for a stand of 25 runs for the fifth wicket for revive RR chase and then got together with Jofra Archer for a match-winning 44-run stand for the sixth wicket.

Skipper Smith also acknowledged Gopal and Archer’s contribution as well. “Great contribution from Gopal and Archer too. I thought they bowled really well with the new ball, first 7-8 overs,” he said.

Earlier, despite Oshane Thomas and Varun Aaron putting in a decent spell up front on a green Eden Gardens track, KKT were buoyed by skipper Dinesh Karthik’s 50-ball 97-run knock, helping KKR to 175/6.

“Oshane did well in his first game. Varun Aaron was exceptional with the new ball. The boys did a great job,” said Smith, adding, “There was some really good shots from DK, who played a terrific innings”.

Smith, who could make only two runs in the match, did concede that they lost way in the middle, but was happy that his team crossed the line.

“We made it difficult for ourselves. We lost too many wickets in the middle section after a good start. Happy to get over the line. The first 5-6 games, we weren’t able to creep over the line. It’s good to creep over the line tonight,” said Smith, who recently took over the captaincy from Ajinkya Rahane.

With their fourth win RR are seventh on the points table now, but they will be dented with the departures of Archer and Ben Stokes – owing to national duty – in the coming matches and Smith hopes that the team can string together a few wins despite losing out on their key players.

“We lose a few players now. Jofra and Stokesy are off tonight, they go back to England now – two big holes to fill. I am here for 13 games. After the Bangalore one, I’ll be heading back. Hopefully, I can contribute and see if we can get few more wins,” he added

Who will get inducted into 'Dinda Academy of Pace Bowling' tonight! That's the burning topic of discussions..

We cannot be so harsh at bowlers who bowl in T20 leagues such as IPL... (In fact Ashok Dinda actually averages 14 in T20 internationals!) Bowlers should be judged based on how they perform across all three formats! For instance, Venkatesh Prasad had brilliant moments in Tests and even in ODIs at times, but today he would have easily joined the so-called Dinda's club and mocked by everyone! Dinda is bad because he had poor ODI outing and could never make the Test Team!

In my opinion a bowler who can never make into Tests can be termed as inferior bowler! U.Yadav did useful job for India in Tests... If any bowler (or player in general) is going for too many runs then he will be immediately dropped from their team by the T20 franchisees, it is so simple (even superstars are not spared)!

After 11 matches, even bottom ranked RCB has the potential to qualify for play-offs and even go all the way to lift the trophy.

That is the quality of this league.

Phenomenal competitiveness.

Tomorrow is the crucial match for RCB, if they win it then they will definitely fancy their chances for playoffs! And if they win the 1st playoffs they might get confident about finals! But RCB fans should always keep their expectations and emotions in limit :) NRR is also a factor and RCB has major issue there...

RCB is winning anything as long as kaptaap is in charge. You will see a transformed team once he is out of the picture or is not in a position of influence.

once again very poor batting by SRH in death overs and poor decision to drop Pathan considering he's the only hitter they've in lower order..

Bookies probably having a field day with all of these wickets being lost in clusters

World Cup is almost knocking on the door and this league is still going on???Whoa.... How long does it last? Lol

All the teams are still in. But will start getting knocked out of contention for playoffs from today onwards. So expect matches to become super intense.

212

six balls to go.

Russell playing a blinder here , single handedly winning this for KKR

Oh oh oh... Slow down. Only one team has batted yet.

Have you forgot this is Eden and we have the Hitman and co?. And KKR have almost always never defendend a total against us?

Lets see what happens , If MI chase this , it will be historical.

This Yadav guy is a dangerous hitter , I expect MI to come really close to this total , at least 210 - 215 here

If we can keep asking rate below 15 till about 15-16 overs and one of Hardik or Pollard in the bank then maybe just maybe there tiny bit of chance.

Required rate now over 15 , MI need to bring it down , because each dot ball will make the rate go up further quickly

Just saw Bumrah's figures. 44 runs off 4 overs with no wickets. This is honestly the first time I've seen him getting hit after the ct17 final.

Pandya is in monsterous hitting form. Any team that he clicks against will seriously suffer. Some of the cleanest hitting i have seen. Hope he retains this form.
