First XI - Mohammad Rizwan (captain, wicketkeeper), Junaid Khan (vice-captain), Arshad Iqbal, Asif Afridi, Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imran Khan Snr, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Haris (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Mohsin, Sahibzada Farhan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Usman Khan Shinwari, Wahab Riaz and Zohaib Khan.

Southern Punjab – Shan Masood (captain), Hussain Talat (vice-captain), Aamir Yamin, Ali Shafiq, Dilbar Hussain, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Ilyas, Mohammad Imran, Saif Baddar, Sohaib Maqsood, Umer Khan, Umar Siddiq Khan, Zahid Mehmood, Zain Abbas and Zeeshan Ashraf (wicketkeeper).

I had high hopes on Zeeshan Ashraf but he disappointed me thoroughly.
Pakistan need a keeper batsman as both Sarfraz and Rizwan are not made for t20s.

Zeeshan is not international material. I'm not too impressed by Rohail Nazir as well. I really hope Haris is given a chance today

Rohail is too young to be discarded......he will come good soon.....a good find for all format....

Wish they keep giving chances to Arshad Iqbal....... And hope to see md haris.....also it will be good test for Khushdil ...

Rohail is definately the next one surely a graduate from under 16 and und 19 and captain as well..he has looked good in all games when he had a chance and i dont even rate mickymouse 20 20s

Musadiq Ahmed has a FC average of 29, List A-17 and T20-17. He is 34 year old

No wonder we are a minnow team

On cricinfo he is 31 year old and PCB site he is 34 year old. Razzaq is a disgrace

I want KPK to loose all matches......Md Haris aur Saif Badar ne kya galti kiya....😫😫😡

I think Rizwan will be like next Misbah if he becomes captain. On what basis he became captain if he is jealous of his own teammate.

Pakistan system is rotten because of the society. There is no concept of merit in Pakistan. You need connections and safrish to do well.

This is why you need 10 team in this system. If parchi players do play, you will also get to see youngsters. Australian model can not work here

Haris needs to change team also PCB has to be proactive. Rizwan doesn't want any competition so wants to destroy Haris by benching him whole tournament.

Exactly!!!! Its waste of time to invest only 6 teams.

The little I know Rizwan .....albeit not personally...but I m sure it's Razzaqs call

Apart from KPK almost all teams are giving opportunity to youngsters.....yes
Sindh not playing Saud Shakil is an issue
My suggestion would be to have 8 teams
instead

On a serious note...….this is pathetic by KPK management.

Haris may fail but at least give him a chance.

From last U19 batch, only three youngsters impressed me. Haider, Huraira & Haris (HHH).

IMO, t20 could have been his most suitable format because of his ability to hit big & score quickly.

I don't know who is responsible.....Razzaq or Rizwan but I hope they will be grilled by PCB for not giving the chance to a youngster.

Hope so..... Accountability should be there........esp PCB should make it clear
It might affect his future captaincy chances

Honestly speaking, after watching his captaincy in this tournament, I don't want him anywhere near to our national teams' captaincy.

He may promote himself as opener there as well.

Pathetic

Rizwan is such a pathetic T20 player, can't clear inner circle against fast bowlers. For how long can he keep his spot? He is worldclass for test cricket.

3rd class umpiring lool

That was out if you looked from the other angle

How was that not out? Scared umpire thinking of keeping the entertainment going

Bro its PCB not BCCI/ACB/ECB. Our board is too scare to criticize/grill a coach otherwise they may go in the media and cry and PCB cannot handle that.

Abbass is so slow and Khalid Mehmood level with the old ball, that Shoaib Malik took his sweet time to dispatch his bouncer to the fence. The PCB is seriously not realizing how much of a liability Abbass is with the old ball. The new ball only lasts for 10-12 overs, after that Abbass is useless till the second new ball. Can Pakistan afford to carry someone who is completely ineffective for 70 overs?

Musadiq played a blinder for KPK 33* off 9 balls.

Number of team hardly matters if the selection process isn’t fair - in any case there are 12 teams actually, they decided not to give second XI games FC status. Also, this model isn’t fully functional- there is one layer missing in between FC & Club level, the city/district based tier. In Australia, after Shield, there is a level called Grade Cricket, around 60 teams across Australia, in UK between County & Club/League cricket, there is Minor County & University League. In Bangladesh as well, the model is built cascading Australian model and below 8 FC teams, there are 64 District teams in non FC status.

Coming to Rizwan’s Captaincy - you never appoint WK as Captain because the job is too busy and it’s a specialist stand alone job - one in 11, therefore a WK-Captain will always try to protect his spot. A perfect example can be this outstanding French National soccer team - their only weakness is that Captain Lloris isn’t among top 3 GK’s in world (still a fantastic GK) & their GKeeing stocks are not that great - still Mandanda is second choice; because Captain being GK, Deschamps couldn’t sacrifice Lloris and at least 3 fantastic prospects got lost on bench - Areola, Lafont & now Meslier.

SP have lost quite a few matches but, this is turning out to be their worst performance with the bat.

Why are they not showing how man runs need to be chased. Even umpires are not saying.

Mohammad Imran had a decent game with both bowl and bat. Couldnt get a wicket but was pretty decent considering how many KPK scored.

They played that fat trundler Ali Shafiq over Dilbar. Laanat on SP’s coaching staff.

Tbh with shaheen wahab junaid and arshad they more likely will win 9/10 when they have score over 180

I think the PCB should review all the coaches even if Raqak wins the tournament I want him sacked

A blazing 34-ball 68 from Fakhar Zaman orchestrated Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s fifth win of the National T20 Cup as they recorded a comprehensive 73-run win over Southern Punjab at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Monday.

The left-handed opener stroked his third half-century of the tournament before Musadiq Ahmed blasted 33 runs from nine balls to lift Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to an imposing 205 for four.

Following Shan Masood’s decision to bowl first, Fakhar provided Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a solid start. The 30-year-old smashed as many as 11 fours and two sixes over the course of an innings during which he put a 71-run partnership for the second wicket with Mohammad Hafeez, who made 17 runs from 20 balls.

Fakhar set Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s innings alight in the fifth over, which yielded 19 runs, by smashing Ali Shafiq for three fours and a six.

Reflecting on his innings, Fakhar said: “As a batsman you wish to score in every match but I am glad that I have picked form at the right time. I am enjoying my run in the tournament. The pitches in Rawalpindi are providing quality contests.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were well positioned at 99 for one when Fakhar was caught by Hussain Talat off Mohammad Ilyas ball on the penultimate ball of the 10th over. Hafeez followed him back two balls later, which plummeted Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s scoring rate as the next 3.5 overs added only 24 runs to their total.

Iftikhar Ahmed struck four sixes in his 22-ball 36 before getting dismissed on the second ball of the 18th over by Ilyas, who finished with 43 for two.

Musadiq, who replaced Iftikhar, raced to 20 runs from the next four deliveries as he smashed six, six, four and four. That over brought 21 runs – the most in the innings for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The 31-year-old hit a six and a four more before returning not out on 33.

He partnered with Shoaib Malik (33 not out off 28, one four) for 43 runs from 16 balls and that the veteran all-rounder contributed only eight of them underscores how Musadiq dominated the proceedings.

Aamer Yamin was the other bowler to take two wickets. The right-arm quick returned two for 36.

Southern Punjab’s abysmal run in the tournament continued as they were bowled out for 132 in 19.3 overs. Shan (0 off three) was the first wicket to fall as he was dismissed by Shaheen Shah Afridi - the highest wicket taker of the tournament with 15 scalps at 7.04 from six matches to date – on the third ball.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Zeeshan Ashraf was out in the fourth over after making 10 off 11, which reduced Southern Punjab to 21 for two. A 40-run stand for the third wicket between Zain Abbas (34 off 21, three fours and two sixes) and Sohaib Maqsood (17 off 16, three fours) gave a glimpse of hope to Southern Punjab fans.

However, the dismissal of Sohaib on the last ball of the eighth over sparked a collapse that saw Southern Punjab slip from 61 for three to 78 for seven.

Batting at eight, Mohammad Imran made a quickfire 48, which only went on to reduce the margin of defeat. Imran, over the course of his 28-ball stay at the crease, struck six fours and two sixes.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Junaid Khan, the left-arm pacer, took two wickets for 31 runs.

Scores in brief:

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa beat Southern Punjab by 73 runs

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 205-4, 20 overs (Fakhar Zaman 68, Iftikhar Ahmed 36, Shoaib Malik 33 not out, Musadiq Ahmed 33 not out; Aamer Yamin 2-36, Mohammad Ilyas 2-43)

Southern Punjab 132 all out, 19.3 overs (Mohammad Imran 48, Zain Abbas 34; Junaid Khan 2-31)
