New Zealand (235 & 174) defeat India (263 & 121) by 25 runs in the 3rd Test to complete a memorable 3-0 whitewash

Bumrah rarely play continuously, even in England series he was rested in 4th test
yes but he has always said he cherishes TESTS the most , as such with his run-up & action , was never going to have a long red ball career ...172/5

batting last here is going to be murder - guess Rohit realizes that . nice little partnership on . out 187/6

Why are NZ treating India like a minnow by resting their main players. India are still a decent enough team at home. Could easily have aimed for a whitewash.

So good to see some posters come out of hibernation after a rare series win at home for Pakistan and rare series loss for India.
quality of a particular post just now makes me think if these ''experts'' realize that IND's home streak lasted for 12 years & 18 series !!!

This is the real Test for New Zealand. If they can win this one then it'll be the biggest feat

I think NZ have got enough on the board... Its a good 1st innings total... NZ will again catch Indian batting in the 1st inning and a get a good lead... That's their whole strategy in this series (whether they bat 1st or 2nd)

India no more have the late order batting (Ashwin/Jadeja are aging, also their bowling is no more sharp!) to outscore opposition batting... I can still remember India used to score like 600+ in the 1st innings batting 2nd even after opposition have scored 400+

Opposition teams used to get demoralized playing in India because even if they win the crucial toss (on a fairly flat pitch), bat 1st and score 400+ still they were losing the match with India out-batting them and attacking in the 3rd & 4th innings... This is no more the case now...

Bumrah absence explained as New Zealand lose key player for third Test

India’s Jasprit Bumrah and New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner were ruled out ahead of the third Test between the two sides.

New Zealand’s Santner, who was the Player of the Match for his side in their win in Pune with his career-best 13/157, was ruled out due to a side strain, while India’s key pacer Bumrah missed out due to a viral fever.

Both these developments were confirmed at the toss, which was won by New Zealand who elected to bat first.

At the toss, skipper Rohit Sharma informed about Bumrah’s unavailability, “Bumrah is not well, so (Mohammed) Siraj replaces him.”

He added that while qualifying for the World Test Championship Final was on the back of their minds, India’s focus was with the present game against New Zealand.

Latham believed the surface was reasonably good, and wanted to put pressure on India by getting runs on the board.

New Zealand go into the final Test having secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. With their win in the first two games, the Kiwis secured their first-ever Test series victory in India.

At present, India are on the top of the WTC Standings, but will need to deliver in the upcoming games to maintain their ascendancy, whereas New Zealand would look to gain further advantage with a win in Mumbai.

They did win after 3 years that too in home so cut them some slack ,from 4th onwards they will back to whining as Australia will start to whip them especially considering they don't have budget to fly their industrial fan and heater with them

Ashwin is more focused on YouTube career, maybe it shows in this series.

KIWIS should look for 300 here. 200 something is not enough
250 is more than enough in this pitch , expect Jaiswal and pant rest are all walking wickets ,most probably with such useless batsmen max 150runs can make .
Why keep producing this unfit wickets if u cannot play itself why can't provide wickets like used in England series.

The problem with Indian Team / BCCI is they will stick on to a formula forever... Yes Ashwin/Jadeja was a deadly combination in home tests few years back. But it doesn't mean that they should always be playing for India... Ideally 1 of them should have given way to a newcomer by now... This could have improved the dimension of the team... This is how you build a team, this is how boards/management of SENA teams think! You will never see them playing the same XI every year!

By now easily Axar & Sundar would have replaced both Jadeja & Ashwin and they would have given a new/fresh dimension to the team... If you observe they also have the same strengths (good in batting also)...

And between Kohli/Rohit (Rahul before this), 1 only should be ideally playing... Just recently we had Rahane, Pujara everyone playing... Idealy you should have only 1 or 2 of them playing, not all 5 of them... This cost us series in South Africa & England... Yes Kohli, Rahane & Pujara were great servants for Indian test cricket (once upon a time). But it doesn't mean that they should be playing till they are worn out completely...

Jadeja continues to be the best test all rounder in the world.

He doesn’t have the highs of Ashwin but he doesn’t have the lows either.

First time - i've seen players walking off after taking review and not waiting for decision :)...

22 overs left for the day ... Predict IND's 1st innings total folks with a 10 run band ! me thinks 290-300 !

Below par total, this is 235.

India should be looking for atleast 100+ lead here.

virat
rohit
are there
so they are playingwith essentially 8 players
add siraj too.

until they replace all 3 which india easily can, its 50 50

just wondering if Axar for Siraj in this Test would have been a better choice ... 17/0 & 17 overs left for the day .

dropped....bit casual by hitman, i tthough, almost lackadaisical...hope he makes most of this...
and our guys get thru to EODP without any damage

Geeez....Hitman....what a waste...especially after getting a life
don't see him playing another test in his home ground....if and when the next test comes around in mumbai

gill is finished. he cant play spin at all. should have been out

Ajaz Patel with the new ball is already causing problems. He can single handedly dismantle the Indian team on his own.

Lowest batting average by an Indian captain at home in Tests (min. 500 runs)

29.83 - Sourav Ganguly (868 runs)
31.62 - Rohit Sharma (854 runs)
31.91 - Kapil Dev (766 runs)
32.19 - Tiger Pataudi (1481 runs)
39.76 - Rahul Dravid (517 runs)

true...and going by our guys recent track record against spin....hardly inspiring...
hope their wallowing genetic gifts come good all together and we smoke Ajaz out of mumbai tommorow...

indian vs india. rachin killed india first game. maybe now ajaz

Plenty of lefties down the order. Kohli should be demoted but do they have guts?
