What's new

New Zealand [278 & 256/8] draw the second test against England [307 & 352/9] to win the series 1-0

All that good work of last evening completely undone in two balls. That was a decent ball to Williamson but I don't think he needed to play at it.

Rain and bad lights can save them but they have to show some guts. Cant afford a collapse.

Ross to save NZ now. Time for him to stood up. He is yet to deliver in this series. Best time to get some on board. :rosco

Broad again showing why he's the leader of this attack. England go as Broad goes while Jimmy pads his stats on the side and woos the ignorant.

It's a NZ wicket, we just need to bat decent to save it here.

Could even win if someone gets in and scores big.

He doesn't show up enough in the big moments to be considered an elite player tbh.

Kohli and Smith are on another level to everyone else, they're the only two who are certain to be ATGs.

Lets see Leach can win the game for England, which is what spinners do in the 4th innings.

If a Pakistani batsman played that shot there would be cries of match fixing :mv

3 down already :/ NZ doing their very best to throw this one away.

Broad has 16 5-fers now and people say he plays second fiddle.

These two have to step up here big time.

Only Watling and CdG to come after this.

I cant see NZ hanging on from here.

Not major spin but those rough patches provide enough, hence Root coming on.

That's the game, literally threw the game away in the first session.

These guys can do nothing but disappoint. Greatest Black Caps team ever lmao :)))

Pretty awful stuff from NZ so far. You're trying to save a Test series and you have Nicholls playing T20 cricket.

Nicols shouldn't be playing any format at the international level. He's not good enough.

Amazing from NZ, can they pull this off? 237/7 and still 15.5 overs to go.

15 more overs left..3 wickets in hand with Southee's participation doubtful.

This should be easy for NZ unless they brain-fade.

Well done, NZ lower middle order for taking this close but need to finish it off.

Masterful batting by Wagner and Sodhi. Deserves appreciation from the master :salute

Amazingly well played NZ. And a huge shout out to Wagner - 7 out of 93 including a 4! Unbelievable:P

Hmm, this is what I expected. These super-flatties are too hard to get wickets on. NZ decks used to help the seamers. They were all green in Hadlee’s day.

Well played NZ and congratulations, a well deserved series victory.

When was the last time the English attack took 20 wickets in a test?

Freaking awesome performance from the lower order and Latham.

Ish was incredible.

Maybe, just maybe it is time to look at England's bowling. Pitches have been the same for both teams in India, Australia and NZ. And England has taken 20 wickets I think once in 12 games?

Spectacular performance. Reminded of when we batted out of our skins to save the test against India. I thought it was done after CDG holed out but Wagner and Sodhi showing the top order how to bat. Sodhi is not a test class bowler but he is a test class lower order batsman.

Last English summer.

So the long winter comes to an end, with five test losses and no wins. Entirely predictable given the makeup of the England attack and lack of capability in the top order batting.

I think Bayliss has to go as test coach. He made a number of wrong selections.

Played NZ.

Could have won this Test had the batsmen actually contributed.

Wickets in NZ only get better to bat on.

Bumble - "The pitch has won in the end."

Excuses started :rondu

Which makes it a terrible day 5 test pitch.

Anyways, gripping final hour. Congrats to you and NZ. Well batted Ish and Wagner.

Also the England tactics were wrong - too much short stuff that the NZ batters could avoid.

England has been winless in last 13 tests away. Lost 4-0 to India and Australia, 1-0 to NZ and drew against Bangladesh. Also, England has hardly dominated at home. Has lost at least one match against top 8 teams at home in last 4 years. I would say that England is a distant 5 right now behind NZ, India, Aus and SA. Highly overrated.

British media and experts think otherwise :trump

The way the batsmen batted, NZ did not deserve to get out of jail there. But the wicket was so flat and those lower order batsmen were so determined. Well done to them.

Oh wait! England couldn't even win in the Windies... Extremely embarrassing for a team that has the likes of Cook, Root, Bairstow, Stokes, Anderson and Broad.

I'm sure the nature of the pitch and the ICC light regulations will be brought up in the next few days by a certain press :mv

shaz619 and I are happy that our boys did it :salute
