They can counter the bounce by ramping instead of upper cuts which is more risky.
 
Abdullah has no business playing Odis.

He has done nothing in list A and is a typical snail paced Pakistan batsman.
 
Would have been an easy chase for any decent side. Square boundaries are tiny and surface excellent for batting
 
Couple of beautiful shots by Abdullah for boundaries. He always looks very shaky early in his innings but sure can pull off some beautiful looking shots. Hopefully we see him get back in form in a big way.
 
We need to start playing more ramp shots, ramp scoops etc.
 
Amazing that Kiwis get to that score in the end. I thought that Pak bowlers have got it when they were 3 down.
 
Whoa. What a six from Usman.

He looks ugly as hell trying to navigate the short ball and seems a bit hackish at non short deliveries but it seems to work for him.
 
One thing's for Abdullah has better power game than Babar. He can take on the bowlers more effortlessly
 
Does not matter if you have ugly technique or not,,, you gotta score runs and usman is fine atm.

But the most refreshing thing is ABD... He is looking solid..

Dude you can be unlucky in one or two matches. If you are unlucky every single match of your career, that just means you are bowling the wrong length to get an edge.

The pitch was taylor made for bowlers in the first innings. This is his entire career story.

That's why I think eventually, over long term, he'll be an all format player for Pakistan. He's shown good hitting ability in T20's but lacks consistency in his game right now. Who knows, maybe a few years down the line...
 
Not sure why usman was kept on bench for that long... I am sure if Imam is fit today, he would have been playing this game .

He is mentally timid and has a slight issue with his technique.

Sure but people look to discard players too quickly. If he was a NZ player the coaches would work with him to fix his technical deficiencies because the talent is truly there and he's already played some exceptional knocks in his early career.

Pakistan always on the "hunt" for talent but name of the game is talent development.
