New Zealand (402 & 110/2) secure a comprehensive 8 wicket win against India (46 & 462) in the first Test to lead the 3-match series 1-0

Just woke up to check the score.

What in the world has happened? The score card looks hilarious.

It looks like the Indian team misread the conditions, but this performance cannot be explained. NZ is batting like a boss now on the same day. 😂🤣

What is KL Rahul, or as I like to call him, 'BB Ki Vines,' doing in this team? Rohit, KL, and Kohli should all be dropped at once.

It seems Gambhir isn’t as tough as he tries to appear. He is just another weak coach succumbing to the demands of senior players. :inti
Ah, out in fine voice, now that the default settings of us being hammered are realized....
Obvously june - July 2024 was one of the lowest months for your ecosystem minions as the right guys won outside of cricket and also the WcT20 where you guys got epic face palmed....i mean you guys were salivating at the prospect of him visiting the finlas and us loosing...both didnt happen and you got shut up....
assuming that our guys win at least the next test out of the two remaining agains NZ, the next few days is your ecosystem minions day out and you will be crawlign back into the woodwork that you belong....
but yeah...keep posting...even if we are loosing, keeps everyone's metabolism in fine circulation....lagge raho Bhaggu bhai...

This is just funny to me... No need to lose any hair over this.

Indian team does give freak performance like this once in a while.

very Newtonian if you think about it, the highs are so High, that lows are this hilarious 😂

I'm not even sure a draw is possible. If India somehow pulls it off with a heroic batting performance, everyone in the cricket world will have to take their hat off. It'll take peak Dravid, Pujara level batting. Not sure who's capable of it.
Insha-Ganesha! :ua

Pant in pain, big blow for India
Huge chance for Dhruv to show more of himself, even though he won't get to bat

Thread is about India vs New Zealand not your obsession with 2 certain teams
Thanks for pointing out but no thanks, your obsession with a certain team is surely coming out....any ways, njoi your day out in the sun and good game to your guys in Multan!

NZ should win this test from here. Solid position to win a test in India. Freak perfromacne from Indians here, lol.

When the last time nz win a test match in india
1988, bombay test.

Richard hadlee got his world record and then left and did not stay for next test.
kiwis lost series 1-2.
they came close a couple of time i think in 2010 but Harbie got 2 hundreds in that series and staved them off

Why did he leave?

Sun is out and this test match is done.

Next test match should be.

- No Kholi,

- Definetly a big No No No to a bangladeshi calibur batsmen Rahul,
BD will take Sunill Shettys son in law Rahul. Exchange. You can take the talented Liton Das.

Day 2: Stumps - New Zealand lead by 134 runs

IND 46
NZ 180/3 (50) CRR: 3.6

Why did he leave?
becoz his primary objective to come on the indian tour was to break DK Lille's record of 355.; Remember in those days the angrez used to think of touring India / pak as a sufferance, as a no choice but gotta do it.... and once he got this, he left. (again my opinion and my analysis, and i might be super wrong) ....this came in for a lot of flak from the NZ press who tagged him as selfish/etc as they felt he wanted to just get the record and leave....
I think when he was knighted in 1990 when he was playing....probably the only guy who was an active player and knigted(again i might be wrong and am happy to be fact corrected) lot of NZ players and nz media got back at him for the above and started calling him 'Sir Dick' (as dick is a short name for richard- dont ask me why/how)....

Awful day for team India. Should have scored at least 100 whatever be the condition. Any lead above 200, advantage new zealand

We still in it boys! Just ignore the first inning.

It actually didn't happen.

I don't know why NZ chose to bat first. But good score by them in challenging conditions.

Ah yes who can forget Botham's infamous "I wouldn't even bring my MIL to Faisalabad." Still it surprises me that Hadlee did this. Definitely feels like a very selfish thing to do. Especially for a player of his caliber who was at the height of his powers at that time

Good to see challenging test conditions and NZ bowled superbly-- impeccable lines. Ball hooping around , seeming around . Was good to watch.
A good challenge for Ind this. Just hope that mental midget klrahul is drpped forever going forward.

True....
Angrez always had their hangups about touring SC....and that statement by botham was so rude....
any wayz....i guess things have changed....both in your neck of the woods and mine....
aaage aaage dekho....hota hai kay!

Epic defeat at hands of kiwis in 4 days awaits us - who would have thot...
indian cricket at its most epic....mostly up but when they are down...its epic depths they trudge...
Unless they invoke Rahul/VVS @ calcutta 2001 .....we are dead ducks in the barrell....

Day 2: Stumps - New Zealand lead by 134 runs

Bengaluru Test: Bowled out for 46, India concede control on rare off-day at home

India don't get outplayed in a home Test, often. The envious home record -- only four Tests lost since they failed to win a series in 2012 -- tells the story. However, on Thursday, a visiting New Zealand dominated India with the bat, ball and on the field. It was a new low for the Asian giants as they were bowled out for 46, the lowest total registered in India in Test cricket after one of their weakest and error-filled performances with the bat in conditions that needed to be respected better.

At Stumps on the second day, New Zealand were 180 for 3, riding on Devon Conway's stroke-filled 91. Yes, Test cricket is a wild ride filled with uncertainties, but New Zealand have arguably pushed themselves into a position from where it's their Test to lose. Tom Latham's men took a lead of 134 runs, heading back to the dressing room as the happier of the two teams.

Not many could have seen it coming. India headed into the Test on the back of a sensational 2-0 sweep of Bangladesh earlier in the month. They had only two days to work with in the series finale in Kanpur, but they played a fearless brand of cricket to 285 for 9 in 34.4 overs in a breathtaking assault that made the world sit up and take notice. On the other hand, New Zealand arrived in India after failing to work on their poor record in the subcontinent as they were blanked by Sri Lanka 2-0 in the island nation last month.

In Bengaluru, the world took notice of India's batting effort once again, this time with a sense of shock as they lasted only 31.2 overs. Five batters, including Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul and Ashwin, did not trouble the scorers at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium at all. Rishahb Pant, with 20, was the top-scorer for India while Yashasvi Jaiswal stayed the longest in the middle, managing 13 from 63 deliveries.

None of the other batters looked like they were playing Test match and giving respect to the conditions, which made New Zealand feel at home. Rohit Sharma set the tone for India's blitz in Kanpur a couple of weeks ago. On Thursday, he set the tone again for India's procession of wickets, walking down the track and seeing his stumps rattled by Tim Southee in the first hour.

A loss here will boost Sri Lanka's chances of a WTC final. Who would have thought they'd be in the running?

Indeed.

Would love to see SL vs Aus in the final.

Having said that, Aussies are likely to win the WTC final whether opponent are India or SL.

True they are the best of the three in England
This WTC cycle has sprung surprises though so who knows?

I am sure that our batsmen will bounce back in the second innings, but making a draw out of this Test match is a difficult task. Poor selections have cost us this match.

That's why Top 3 in test batting lineup is key! Rohit & Kohli occupying those spots is troublesome! Jaiswal needs a proper partner (if someone else had opened with him and if the 1st wicket partnership was extended for few more overs and a proper No.3 - heck even Pujara is better... shielding few more overs... At least with this cushioning we can cross at least 100+ on any challenging surface!) Also with guys like Pujara and a negative alrounder like Jadeja - team loses steam now and then... You need lots of cushioning at various points to be competitive in test matches on all surfaces!

Cricket is all about confidence... Once some batsman is solid at one end, batsman on other end can take advantage of lose balls, and that's how pressure grows... Bowlers will then lose line & length (its all psychology! That's how Indian bowlers couldn't do much against NZ later on... Low first innings score already put them in the backfoot and they tried really hard). With this kind of batting lineup good opposition bowlers can take advantage going through the loopholes... And NZ is always a smart team executing such things!

This was test cricket at its best. Wow totally enjoyed it even if Ind was on the receiving side. Terrific nz bowling. Every ball was an event. Was thrilling to watch. Luved luved it. Was sick of the flat tracks recently everywhere. Tests nees to be more spicy and exciting. Teat cricket at its best.. Rourke's was superb- the seam and height he was getting was good. Ind fielding was a bit off today- dropped 2 catches . But it's a good test of character tomorrow. Will be a fun test to watch with Ind on the backfoot so early in a very long time!

What a scorecard to wake up to. I thought the second day would be a washout, so I didn't bother checking Cricbuzz before going to bed last night.

Rude awakening!

India playing like Pakistan, & Pakistan playing like India, what’s going on :yk3

Some experts are saying that this is a very poor pitch and deserves a demerit point and is the reason why India got out at 46. Like bruh the pitch was just assisting pacers with good seam and swing. That's all. It was New Zealand / England - esque seam pitch. It's not a dangerous pitch. If it was then New Zealand wouldn't have scored 180 today!

Demerit territory is if neither team can make heads or tails of the pitch like Cape town. Those experts are just doing rhona dhona plain and simple

Indians still are not completely out of the game as there are just 3 days left with NZ batting. So at best they would be asked to survive 2 days and a session. And on home turf like Bengaluru it won't be much difficult

It is a good pitch alright. But dampness, overcast conditions made it hell for batsmen in the morning session. This won't earn demerit points. In NZ from time to time we see this first day collapse. Even in India i have seen a few. There was once INdia was shot out for 76 first morning. Then pitch became a belter. But India couldn't regain ground int he 2nd innings.

Would have been interesting to have seen Babar bat on this wicket during the 1st innings.

If pitch is bad, how is NZ at 180/3?

"Experts" got it wrong obviously.

Hopefully we get time without rain. NZ has a decent chance to win after taking a big lead.

To be fair, NZ deserves to win this match, they put themselves in an unlosable position. It would a shame if rain interrupts and rob NZ of a win here....

This loss will hopefully help drop Kohli and Rahul once and for all from the test side, which is only a good thing moving forward...

Congratulations to New Zealand on this rare and remarkable victory against the greatest Test side in cricket history! Securing a Test victory against India in India is an even greater achievement than winning an ODI World Cup.

Kiwis have a grip on the game 100%. If they lose from this position, it has to be the worst choke of all time.

bumrah is useless in swing conditions.
absolutely useless in swing conditions. pace is good but it doesnt matter here. need to swing.

Dhruv Jurel is keeping wickets for India on day 3 in Bengaluru, with Rishabh Pant having not taken the field. The BCCI medical team is monitoring his progress

So many times beating the bat. Could esily had 2 more wickets today.

NZ needs to go as big as possible. 300 runs lead. That way India has to bat out of their skin to save this test.

I want NZ to win here.

India may lose by an inning here, just need to add some more runs.

Bowled .can india restrict NZ lead to 200? Unlikely for me as Ravindra is batting beautifully

If new zealand can somehow take the lead past 200, this is going to be a huge task for India to match.

Poor play by NZ. Just need to bat bit longer here.

NZ has 177 runs in the bag. Another 60-70 runs and India will struggle here. Its going to be hard to bat here for a very big score. India is not liekly to make 450-500 runs here. NZ has a golden chance ot win a test in India.

Even wihtout adding any runs, NZ is far ahead right now.

This is NZ’s golden opportunity to win a test here. They won’t get such an opportunity again as easily. Must try everything possible to win this test. Even SA haven’t won a test in India in last 10 years. Only Aus and Eng have won 2 tests each.

Only way India can dream of winning is taking the game to day 5 at which point , it will be unplayable. Remember Afridi was turning square in one of the Bengaluru test on day 5. Only Sehwag looked comfortable before being run out

Good innings by Kannadiga Dhartiputra Rachin Ravindra....
although i wish we got him on a golden duck....
Hopefully we get him and the remainign wickets soon, pitch seems to have eased out considerably....
This whole test gives me vibes of 1st test vs saf i think Durban 2010 where we got out on first day for 2 digit score and i think kallis and smith both got double 100's as pitch eased out dramatically-there was nothing for our guys...
We have to really dig deep here...difficult but not impossible
