What's new

New Zealand [93/2] defeat India [92] by 8 wickets to win 4th ODI; India lead 5-match series 3-1

Kumar was giving tips to Boult before the start of the game on how to swing the ball.

Now Boult has wrecked us. ::J

Its not just the wickets, even CT 17 was an ICC event. Its also the weather and dukes ball which makes a difference.

We will see some big scores but we are gonna see some lively days with ball as well.

It wasn't swing as much as one guy being spectacular other Pacers did not find that much swing that day the way Amir did, also CT 17 was like Murphy's law for us, everything that could go wrong did go wrong that day

Ok gnite all, congratulations to Kiwis fans, hope Indian bowlers take a few wickets.

NZ is giving these two singles:)) Why isnt Kane attacking?

80-8

Never thought India would reach 80...

Hmmm.. I think India have found their No.8 and No.9 batsmen..

Amir was the only swing bowler playing in the opposition, Hassan and Junaid either seam the ball or reverse it when its old.

I understand what you are saying and wickets will be good considering the last two years of England wickets but you never know with dukes ball, weather and it being England.

So what helps India now actually brought our downfall then lol, not asking you to compare as such, but I started watching only in 90s, and every ODI was special how was it during 80s the ODI? I guess Sharjah brought in more people and fixing as well.

No idea of live games in 1980s, but the game was much more simple. I think, tactically current teams are much advanced, but skill wise this is probably the worst era of cricket at least from 1960s. A little bit of challenge, batsmen are collapsing against swing, seem and not to mention spin play, which is probably at it's lowest level since WW1. Athleticism has increased multiple time, but catching has gone down - today's fielders are brilliant at catching baseball style skyer, but the classic slip catching, bat-pads & WKepping catches are poorer - almost every ODI, you'll see 1-2 regulation drops at slip, gully or point. Batting improvisation has improved, but at the cost of classic shot - I can't recall when I have last seen a cover drive on back knee bent on ground, or an inside out cover drive against spinner or a laid cut against the spin.

Just saw a drop of a leggi - Azhar has 29 against Kumble and Taylor probably 35 against Warne - hardly any modern slip fielder will catch half of those.

I can guarantee you we will not have a CT 17 like collapse in the world cup, mind you we are bad enough for it go from 150-3 to 170-7 still but it won't ever be 4-3 in world cup.

There it is. 93 to in..Great bowling by Boult. If this is not Rayudu's last game, India doesnt deserve to win the WC. Simple

India score more than their lowest score against NZ (88) ...
92 all out ... All over

Chahal India's highest scorer!!!! Long back, I read a memorabilia of one Indian journalist covering 1946 English tour, where in a County game (FC Tour game), Indian No. 10 & 11 were highest scorer - both hitting hundred!!! Probably against Surrey and one of the batsman was Bengali Shunte Banarjee.

Thats gotto be a dream come true for any kid. To top score ina ODI in the mighty Indian team. CHahal:))

So how many wickets do we lose by? My guess would be 9.

Yup. They can take their own time. India out of desperation will overattack. They will find plenty of gaps. Besides India has "khaleel" lol It will be a short work for NZ.

I can sense India will be ready next time for a pitch like this. I expect some phainty for NZ especially from Rohit sharma. He is proud of protecting his winning record as a captain.

I think, in 2002 Series, at Auckland, IND Was all-out for ~100, and Srinath made it 7 down for Kiwis, today also I think Kiwis will loose some, but today they probably will finish the game before lunch.

India had quality group of seamers then. Not Khaleel Ahmed. So India doesn't have force to exploit moving conditions. Even Deepak chahar Raju gurbani will be mighty effective here.

This game is a write-off.

Just move on. 3-1.

Not sure if Guptill can come out of the mental scars from this series. Think his HS is sub 20 in 4 games

Damn that ball didn't even do anything.

Deserved to be hit into the stands.

Shami should be starting with bumrah come world cup bhuvi is a lost cause for me, really lost much of swing.

I think the only reason Khaleel is getting a free ticket to the ODI squad, is because he's a left armer and hence Kohli thinks he's different. Otherwise I can't get my head around his selection in the team.

This khaleel is well below international standard.

Bhuvi has 111 wickets in 101 matches while Shami has 106 in 58 matches. The difference is just too startling to be ignored.

He's just 20 years old. They marked him for the future. He needs to swing the ball at atleast 135 to get a spot as he grows older

Should try to finish this quick, what's the shortest game India have ever played?

Weren't you the one telling us about how he has been handpicked by zaheer or something.

I think so. Seeing him in the last 3 matches trundling with arms flinging all over, i can only think India has better bowlers than him.
