What's new

New Zealand [93/2] defeat India [92] by 8 wickets to win 4th ODI; India lead 5-match series 3-1

Will this be Rohit's first defeat if we win?

We ended Kohli's chasing record last time too.

That's just great, nothing helps a 92 run defense like a misfield bloody chief selector quota selection, go back to icl you hack.

Man if McCullum was still playing he would have wanted to finish this in 6 overs :))

First brainless batting. couldn't defend a straight ball. Now on a pitch that offers something he is bowling half trackers.

Should make Khaleel bowl here. Don't give the ball to Pandya, he might end up doing a Binny here

Can't believe I'm saying this but umesh with 1 hand and no legs will be a better bowler than khaleel or siraj at their peak.

NZ commies are talking about what they can take from this match. I say pretty much nothing. We know boult can swing. Have one match like this time and again. Other than that nothing much

So to answer NZ comms about take aways from this game, none.

Boukt is world class and he was in the previous ODIs as well. 2nd opening bowler can't buy a wicket. Batting woes continue...

yup Todd Astle didn't get anything here. Guptill gone as usual.

This match has exposed the middleorder weakness a bit, but the main important outcome is that it is shown that khaleel is not fit or ready yet. Our pace bowlers should be Bumrah, Shami, Bhuvi. If we need more back up, it should be umesh.

I think they will bring Rahane into the team for AUS ODIs

95% (or more) ODI pitches are not going to be like this... Else ODIs will also go extinct like Test Matches! Indian batsmen (especially Top Order) cannot prepare for matches like these! They need to be on their toes for stroke-play opportunities! Maybe teams like Pakistan can still post 200+ on such pitches and make a match of it. It is boring hell and 80-90s style cricket!

Having said that, a stronger Indian middle order would have at least ensured 150+ and made an interesting match giving bowlers something to defend... (in 30 overs or so... Because that's all you can do on such pitches which offers to bowlers even with old ball! We don't want crawling 220 in 50 overs which someone like Dhoni can do now! Because this habit makes us score 300 instead of 350 batting first and falling short at 270 instead of chasing 320 easily on 95% flatter pitches!)

So this match has again exposed the weak middle order (look at those two ducks scored by our two sensational batsmen!) But the Top Order batsmen and Bowlers have properly shielded them without any danger and only a World Cup debacle can open their eyes!

Pandya's bowling has improved after his come back. Last ODI and this. Pace is up, he's swinging, and lots of discipline

Our batsmen are the worst in the world against quality swing bowling.

Kohli's first failed chase after scoring a century ✔
Rohit's first loss as captain ✔

So based on this innings they are going to decide Nichols is their opener? lol One of the bowler was Khaleel.

Congrats Aman and other Kiwi supporters on PP, total domination !!!

Jadhav, Rayudu, KKD inspire no conifdence whatsoever. Hope they continue to get exposed till the world cup.

Thanks, but this isn't India's best team and the series is already over.

It's nothing more than practice for the WC.

When will India realize. Carrying a batsman who has been playing cricket for 14 years, averaging 30 with a strike rate of 73 will be a huge risk. I know KKD has some merit to his selection. But there is a reason why he never made his place permanent ever. Way way too inconsistent. THen we have this Rayudu who is clueless in wide range of situations. Dhoni tuk tuk master. These guys will piggyback whenever one of the top order makes some runs. WHen all 3 are gone they are completely shown up.

Welldone NZ. Amazing skill and stamina from the ATG Boult!! CLueless batting from Indian middle order. Good news for everybody!!!

DK will flop at the top. He is a good finisher though

It is one thing to get out to Boult. But all those who get out to Grandhomme should retire from cricket.

Kiwis have totally bossed over India today.

Congrats.

DK has more so than not consistently shown to be a good finisher IMO. His position isn't to come in as a builder of innings. It's extremely rare for all top batsmen to fail, and when it happens, it's probably too much to ask for someone in DK's position to salvage the innings.

Not every player can be good for every situation. You need players with their respective skills for respective situations. When situations like today arise, it destroys the entire structure of the batting line-up and every player following the top spots are left to play in extremely unfamiliar situations.

Dhoni took India to well past 200 after India were 4-3 in one of the ODIs against Aus. For his short-coming, if he were to come in at 4th, we may not have seen a collapse. If history is proof, that is likely to be the case. His reflexes may have escaped him to a degree, but he can still hit boundaries.

Rayudu though. I have no idea what they see in him.

A more than convincing victory for New Zealand as they thrash India by 8 wickets in the 4th ODI; India 92, New Zealand 93/2 (14.4/50 ov, target 93); India lead the 5-match series 3-1;

First sign of movement and these flat track bullies fall like a pack of cards.
Good news is that flat tracks are everywhere!

DK will flop at the top. He is a good finisher though

That's why he should bat at No.7 as wicket-keeper (if India doesn't want Dhoni as Keeper or they don't find any other upcoming keeper to be groomed/good enough) He should be in the team only for this reason (for whatever merit he has - finishing job, Nidhahas triumph, etc!) He is fit only for this purpose. He is definitely a ridiculous choice for No.4 or No.5 of a premier batting lineup of premier team as a sole batsman with a paltry 30+ average without any centuries!

Hahaha... There has been cries by some fans about why Dhoni is important to our middle order! Dhoni should have loved this match & outcome to the core, so that he can continue to exploit the weakness of Indians' mentality!

Dhoni would have even probably won this match (with his customary 60 of 136 balls in this match by holding one end and others blasting a bit - perhaps 240+ with Bhuvi & Spinners defending it in a close match!) But this is less important for us compared to the crucial losses we incur on flat pitches with batting shoot out (mostly in knockout pressure matches).

I will be repeating myself, but Boult & Yadav pose such a potent threat, and that's what makes India first & New Zealand 2nd strong bowling line up for the world cup.
