What's new

New Zealand end Day 3 of the WTC final at 101/2 & trail India by 116 runs

This Kiwi attack is one of the greatest pace attack of all-time.

All four are world class test bowlers and Jamieson has a potential to go a notch higher. I knew it way back in February 2020.

Not really the greatest....they won't be as effective on flatter wickets where you need pace.....as we saw in Australia

Yeah he played very well on that tour of Australia but I don't see him become much successful in England New Zealand and South Africa. He has very faulty technique.

Even if he doesn't, isn't that true for pretty much all Asian bastmen? Barring one or two most others who we call have greats have terrible record in more than 2 SENA countries.
As for technique, his defense is pretty compact so he can make usefull contributions even in conditions which don't suit his batting style . So it's too early to conclude.

They didn't selected Jamieson in that series. He is lethal for those conditions and Wagner did brilliant in Australia. Those two and Lockie with Boult/Southee rotating would have done a good job.

India have a habit of getting good scores from these positions. I still think 250+ is on. NZ need to keep them down to 220

Will be more about seamers rather than swing bowlers who can hit the deck hard. Lots of comments on this post IND v AUS series on PP, and the importance of bowling a heavy ball in AUS.

Jamieson, Ferguson can be helpful. Wagner with smart fields can be useful. They then have the luxury of having one of Boult or Southee so should be able to make a game of it.

Wagner and southee were successful in Australia.
It was batsmen who couldn't handle the aussie pacers

Well batted Ashwin. Just keep playing like this for another session if not more.

I think we could have batted better today. Rahane and Pant threw away their wickets.

India playing like pak yesterday at a snails pace, when the wickets tumble the approach looks silly , we have seen it time and again in England and aus. Should have taken the fight to nz after the first session yesterday it’s going to be difficult now nz already have a few games experience in this conditions

Jadeja dropped in slips, as unbelievable it may sound

New-Zealand slip cordon is on par with that Aussie slip cordon of Warne, Ponting, clark and Hayden. They've dropped one now but I fear India would drop more.

Looks like a full day rain tomorrow will spoil this game and we will have a Day 6 similar to the Day 5 of 1st test between England and New Zealand.

Indians on 211, which in the current situation is worth about 240 as the outfield is very slow as per Nasser Hussian.

If Indians can steal a few more runs, I feel NZ will be all out for around 100-120...

Sucks that rain and light will most likely end up spoiling this game. Other than that been a good tussle. With another 30-40 runs in these conditions and with the new Dukes India will have done very well.

Lol.

Hilarious to see Indian fans and some "temporary NZ fans" getting so invested in a game that has a draw written all over it. :91:

NZD’s performance against Anderson and Broad may not mean much. Both are a bit more predictable now and while great at what they do, the IND attack will likely challenge them more. Likewise, IND may not struggle as much against ENG later this summer as they will in these conditions against a more varied attack.

Once again, while there has been historic levels of swing produced by NZ, it was the bowler who got the most seam and bounce who ripped through our lineup.

Yeah.....I expect India to beat ENG this time around.

ENG batting is poor and even their bowling is not as good as it was a couple of years back....while lndia look really good especially their bowlers.

What a sensational Test.

I have no idea whether NZ will win, India will win or we will get a draw or a tie!

Low-scoring matches are always the most exciting.

Both teams have been excellent so far.

Hiw much do you think is a par score here.
I think we needed 260.

Easier said than done. :inti

Can Jadeja play some shots please?

Thank you.

Poor innings from Jadeja....never looked to push the scoring kept exposing the tail.

That's why it was such a clownish decision to go with such 5 bats.

Looking forward to seeing Bumrah, Shami and Ishant in these conditions. Won't be easy going for NZ bats.

India have not scored enough to put pressure on NZ, and if NZ get a reasonable start then they will certainly take a good lead for this pitch.

Fantastic over rate by NZ despite all the delays and all-pace attack.

Yeah, he is bit overrated in that sense. Never goes for the kill with all the talent he has.

And the sun is out ....just when we have to go an bowl....
C'mon lads....go out there and get them...

Still a competitive score on board for India.

They would back their bowlers to keep NZ under that in these conditions.

I think India have enough to stay alive. Anything between 200 and 250 is decent here and 250+ would have been unbeatable.

My only worry for India is that they only have three quicks. And Shami tends to bowl too short anyway. Pandiya would have been very useful, even if he only bowled three over spells each session.

India has picked a team for The Oval in late August, rather than for Southampton in mid-June. Bumrah and Ishant are going to have to do quite a lot of bowling.
