What's new

New Zealand end Day 3 of the WTC final at 101/2 & trail India by 116 runs

Are New-Zealand playing for draw here?If rain hampers tomorrow's play then only 2 days will be left.

The way NZ are batting, they will be at 337/5 on Day 5 stumps assuming a washout tomorrow which is very likely.

On 6th day(reserve day) hopefully they will declare and will try to explode India's batting. Will the pitch become flat or it will dry up?and they even don't spinner to exploit if it spins

Lol @ the fans complaining nz are playing for a draw when it took india day and a half to make 200.

Even if they would have little more aggressive then score would have more than this.Even after playing so many balls setting their eyes on the pitch no one capitalised the start

Fml our bowlers are a brain**** bunch.

How hard is it to understand that you need to pitch it up on soft damp wickets. Everytime I watch Shami and Bumrah bowl into the wicket, a part of me dies.

Good one for Ashwin. Had managed to get under Latham’s skin.

Pacers have not had much to write home about yet. A fairly long way to go though.

Have been saying this for a while.

Good example of why a leg slip may be good for KW. Soft hands, plays it late and more likely to play it behind square.

Jadeja is yet to bowl a single over which is always the case as 5th bowler tends to get under bowled.

Lol two sessions of play, not even 100 runs, NZ are too scared and playing for a draw.

They're nervous about a collapse, because it's quite possible in these conditions.

They'll try batting for as long as possible, I don't see them accelerating.

What is up with Bumrah today? Spraying everywhere
Completely uncharacteristic

He never delivered on big stage.
Duke ball, overcast conditions, favor to bowling and still he is not effective.
IPL bully.

I always prefer Shami over Bumrah.

He'll bowl when Conway gets out, which brings in a right-hander.
Lol, so you mean to say if Conway doesn't get out at all, Jadeja won't be bowled in this innings? That after him being played as a specialist bowler in XI!

3 full days left if they can get to 400 with a day to spare india will be in trouble, it’s called TEST cricket for a reason.

More poor bowling from Bumrah, has completely wasted the new ball.

No fielder in front of the batsman, no short leg, no silly point.

Bumrah has always been average with new bowl. This time he has been awful.

With second new bowl, he has a very good record though.

If New Zealand can put 350+ on the board, it will truly be difficult for India, though not impossible. New Zealand aren't carrying any spinners, so India will have to pick on De Grandhomme and Southee for most of their runs.

Interesting is that just because he’s bowling to lower middle order or likes the field slightly spread out? Maybe just takes a bit of time to charge up.

He has been like this in most big games of his career so far maybe a mental block. Its unusual for bowlers usually batsmen feel the pressure in big games but he has not bowled well in bigger games so far in his career.

Looks like we will have to wait longer to produce a <25 averaging fast bowler in test cricket.

Yeah, Bumrah has been exposed a bit of late. Not at all happy with him prioritising IPL over international cricket.

Neither has Bumrah looked like taking a wicket nor has he stemmed the flow of runs.

I think it's the latter. But he is not a swing bowler so he is probably not suited to these conditions enough. They better drop him and pick Siraj in the first test Vs England.

Has been very attritional cricket. Bumrah has been much better last 2 overs. Not playing siraj has cost us

NZ understood these conditions better and chose a line up on the basis of that. India as always will take a test or two to get there lin up right. :inti

There is a spring in steps of Indian pacers after that wicket. Long may it continue!

That should be stumps. Rain forecast for all of tomorrow. It's hard to see how there is going to be a result in this match.

I think India should be able to keep nz in check. Have been much better in the last hour.

Lines were really decent from Indian pacers but, as others have mentioned the lengths were a bit short. One can see a lot of play and misses with such lengths which on face value looks really good but, to extract the edge or to keep lbw and bowled in play, pacers have to be fuller.
