New Zealand fight back on Day 2 against Pakistan, 56/1 in second innings after limiting lead to 74

We lost the first Test against Sri Lanka last year because Azhar's first innings masterclass. If we lose this Test by a close margin, I know who will have to cop the blame. Unfortunately, it looks like the team management does not view it from the same lens, or perhaps from the same tiny hole as some would say.
 
hope bowling with new ball and abbas hassan will learn some tricks how to set up etc and use them in odis.

They don't want to crowd openers' spot - too many contenders to accommodate.
 
Pakistan can chase up to 200 on this wicket if the attitude is there. They just need to play smart cricket which may be asking too much sometimes I understand but they are capable of it
 
It's probably the first time I have seen a bit of zip, swing and spin so early in a UAE test match. Also the outfield is quicker that normal
 
Some people have psychae of being negative, yes we are a and side but what is the need of being negative all the time which shows personality trait nothing else.
 
There is one more great game going on - no it's not in SRL.

SAF has scored 109 in 10 overs & AUS has scored 25 of 12 balls so far ..... still some how I am feeling disgusted to watch that one and glued in this boring game with 2.5 RR!!!!!!
 
Anyone else think both teams have been rubbish because they are batting with zero intent in this Test?
 
There are a few who purposely try to stir the die hard cricket fans here. They know who they are. It is a characteristic of a person growing up with out attention. I hope they find peace in their lives - sincerely!

Few things have definitely changed in PAK cricket - it's my utmost pleasure to watch moHa & Azhar patrolling in out field (rather than trolling in slips) while Babar & Haris in the "respected" spots in slip cordon.
 
Kane's the key once again. He was a class above in 1st inns for NZ.
 
I hope playing Bilal over Gohar won't cost PAK this game. Here both 1st innings were short, means Abbas & Hasan are bowling back to back days & they'll do that tmro morning as well; Sarfraz can't use them for long & Yasir can plug only one end.

No one has batted with intent. No one has tried to take the game away from the opposition. It's just a mindless routine of batsmen allowing the bowlers to bowl to them, rather than forcing the bowlers to change their plans a bit.

Top scorers in either of the innings, Babar and Williamson both batted at ~57, which is decent
 
With a 74 lead (which is huge here, considering 50% of Kiwi's 1st innings), and already 1 down, WHY Sarfraz is allowing singles at sweeper cover?
 
I think, light might be an issue here (not bowling Abbas), PAK wants to keep Kiwis in middle. Or Abbas might like to bowl with semi old ball.
 
Very worried. Can't see us chasing anything over 120 unless we have improved massively. We panic in chases too much.
 
Sarfraz has changed the bowling so many times within 10 overs of the innings which is outright stupidity.

He took off Abbas after 3 overs and then bowled Sohail, Yasir and kept bowling Hasan only now again he brought him back.
 
Pakistan's tactics and think tank is a big failure really as they don't seem to have any plans really and keep just changing around.

Every time the camera goes onto Arthur, he looks agitated and just bored with what he sees happening in the middle.
 
That review actually tells how good a top order batsman Will is - he covered exactly that amount required for the ball to hit stick, knows exactly where his 3 stumps are.
 
Yasir, Haris and Sarfraz have bellies which shows how great the standards of fitness are they keep harping on about.

He is part of this - problem for Sarfraz is that Yasir being a leggi won't be that accurate with new ball, while PAK has picked an "All-rounder" for the finger spinner role, whom Captain doesn't trust. Otherwise, in 1st innings Sarfraz did give Bilal 7-8 overs opening spell as 1st change.
 
Hafiz sahab needs to be careful now. If the ball is heading leg, keeper gets blind sided. I would blame Abbas here.

He has Hafeez who's mostly done the trick against lefties yet he doesn't give him many overs and instead brought on Haris inside of the first 10.

Even in the first inns, just the one over and that was it for Hafeez.
 
Battle between Abbas and Williamson is very intriguing. Arguably the best seam bowler going around against the best technician in the modern game.

I am surprised as well with the lack of participation from the king of UAE wickets. The guy is born to play on such turfs

I think, PAK doesn't want to "expose" Hafeez too much with ball. In LO, it is essential for him to bowl for a balance, but in Test it's optional. Also, having scored a hundred, MoHa doesn't need to justify his all-round facet here, hence he won't be interested much to bowl.
 
Last hour. We should start with Hassan and Abbas and no change until one is exhausted.
 
This is what happens when you drop Fakhar and a select batting line up where they all bat at the same tempo. Fakhar and Azhar need to be opening!

since bilal asif is played as an offie we could have dropped hafeez moved azhar to opening and played saad ali somewhere between middle overs
 
Blame should be on Inzamam for not selecting another proper spinner +Hafeez in the side.
 
Raval is doing a wonderful job here, out of Abbas's 36 balls, I think he has played at least 25.
