There is absolutely no way we should go in with 5 bowlers. Our top order is already in shambles and the middle order is down to one man! We need some depth in our batting and for that we have to play 4 bowlers with Kamran in at #7.

Totally Agreed.

Its not about :moyo It depends on teams strengths and stability, and I don't think we have enough confidence in our batting at the moment. So I will be very surprise if any captain will go for 5 specialist bowlers. Just don't start shooting :moyo for that.

This is not meant to be an attack on MoYo, it is just a fact that he is not an outgoing and aggressive person/captain. In the end it goes back to the simple fact that in order to win a test you have to take 20 wickets. So as a captain if you are going for a win you need to have enough bowlers that can get you those 20 wickets, and playing in foreign conditions that usually takes 5 bowlers. But if you are going to pick 5 bowlers then you also need to have enough faith in yourself (as a batting captain) and your batsmen to play with only 5 specialist batsmen. Or you can play it safe, which a defensive minded captain usually does, and go for 6 specialist batsmen, but that usually means playing for a draw. Also, IMO, playing an allrounder in tests does not make much sense, as their weaknesses get exposed in longer version of the game.

I agree with you that our current batting form is not strong enough to go with only 5 specialist batsmen, but what is the point of playing 6 if that only gets you a draw? I would rather coach the batsmen and instill some confidence in them and tell them ahead of time that we are only going with 5 so each one has to make it count. But that requires motivational and interpersonal skills, and its been a long while since we had those qualities in a captain...IK was the last, may be the only one.

Bowling combination should be like:

1) Mohammad Asif
2) Mohammad Aamer
3) Abdur Rauf
4) Saeed Ajmal
5) Fawad Alam (if necessary can bowl which will add some variety in the bowling department).

So everyone agrees that Malik should be dropped? I say based alone on the shot he played in the 3rd ODI he should be dropped. He was either intentionally trying to underperform to undermine YK (which is treason IMO) or is completely out of form.

5 bowlers if the wicket is flat if the wicket aids bowlers 4 should be enough to do the job but that cushion of one extra bat is essential to stop collapses.

pak could use all the batting it can muster up.
Openers would probably fail and you can expect bowlers to score runs (ajmal , asif aamer and other one) . so that extra bat is reqd.

the fear of collapses not gonna help the team at all..no matter how green a pitch you face, never disturb the composition of your team..i-e 4 bowlers, and 6 batsmen and a keeper..if you play defensive and include an extra batsman, more often than not you'll struggle to win test matches.. :moyo

Damn it started and I am too busy in Football Qualifiers where Ireland have just been robbed.

Imran Farhat is into double figures.

That is some achievement young man.

And he has the potential to do that, if he doesn't decide to hit every short ball out of the park. :inti

Same here. But probably because the timings for me and people in Canada for this tour are awesome :D

Day starts at 5 PM, that is when i am faarigh from khaana, namaz, homework.

Farhat's not doing his chances any harm by this innings. If he performs theres no reason he shouldn't be selected in the side.

do u think fawad will get a chance to bat at 3 in the 1st test?
I think he won't as Mohammad Yousuf or Malik will be 1 down, but he should definetely get a chance. :fawad

With Yousuf coming at #4, its either Bhanja or Fawad. My vote goes to Fawad.
