As a neutral this match has been disappointing so far teams getting thrashed and not putting up a fight isn't good for Cricket

Rutherford scored 171 in his first test but still averages 34, this guy should be dropped for good.

New Zealand will always be 2 down even before batting with these operners, they should give Guptil another chance.

Kiwis should have bowled again, but the sun is out, batting should be easier.

Probably because there's 8 sessions left in the match

test cricket doesnt have to be so text book and formulaic.

The ball was seaming around and Indians were batting poorly, could have bowled them out for another 200 odd runs, so the time remaining would have been irrelevant.

NZ shouldve enforced the following on I don't expect Pujara and Kohli to fail twice

NZ batsman probably wanted to increase their average.

If India could get NZ out for under 150 we have a game this pitch will get slower which will suit Indian bats in the 4th innings

Williamson is the big wicket for India, get him out and half job is done #serioustalent

Shami on fire But Fulton looks like a pathetic opener he's so bad he wouldn't get in the Pakistan team

India have got the openers cheaply in both innings its the middle order that hurt us...

Any magic today?

Fortunately for us we're 300 ahead, we just need 100 to bat India out of the game.

NZ are batting with 8 wickets essentially their openers are useless if they were playing against a top bowling attack the batting line up could be exposed

They should have enforced the follow on... but it's NZ so I'm not surprised.

Indian seamers looking like Marshall and Holding here NZ should have enforced the following

We'll still win this, it was smart to bat again the pitch is going to flatten out. India's FTB's would have come back into play.

NZ effectively 311/2, India made 202 in their first innings.

Stop complaining about follow on, NZ just needs to play out another 10 overs carefully and then do the regular thing.

It all depends on whether you think that you can get batsmen of the calibre of Pujara and Kohli out cheaply again and how many more overs your bowlers will have to bowl before you win with a 4 day turnaround. How likely will these batsmen fail twice? They are gun batsmen and proved it in SA. It's also how many more overs you can make the opposition bowl and how long you can make them field instead of sitting in the dressing room. Because you can put another 100 runs on and declare 15 overs before stumps.

Basically as a captain you have to decide, can you achieve a win with or without enforcing the follow on? If so does the benefit of enforcing the follow on outweigh the risks? The big risk of not enforcing in this case it is obviously that NZ get rolled and allow India to gain some momentum. 300+ runs is a huge ask in any case but ceding momentum is a crucial thing. I can't see India winning even if they dismiss NZ for 50 but you don't want to give a demoralised opposition any advantage.

Personally I didn't think the benefit of enforcing the follow on outweighed the risks of doing so. Obviously as a neutral there's a big benefit at laughing at India as they fold to an innings defeat but I think NZ will take any win, innings defeat or no.

If India can get Williamson and MCCullum in the next 10 overs, they will have something to cheer about.

I don't think McCullum can replicate what he did in 1st innings. I am more worried about RossT and Williamson.

Rain tomorrow should juice up the pitch.

Take a lead of 550 then declare.

If NZ bat at 3 an over they'll get a 500 run lead by the end of the day the only worry is the weather

Zaheer strikes Williamson :out

Enzed wobbling

Williamson out early today.

Seriously NZ need to just hit a couple of boundaries and Indian trundlers will panic.

Big wicket for india, Williamson goes without scoring a 50 for the first time this series!

BMac and Taylor now the key wickets... if India can get them they have a good chance to make a comeback! If Batsman dont fail agian!

NZ have looked very uncomfortable so far like they don't know how to bat in this situation

Now get RossT or McCullum quickly. Lets see how Kiwis bat under pressure.
Mate you'll be lucky to score 300 in the next innings :))

We've already won the game, we'll have to play poorly for India to make 300 here.

Don't get too cocky mate, this is cricket.

Nobody is saying that NZ is losing the game.

If India can get Kiwis cheaply at least once, their confidence will be back. Will help them in the 2nd test.

Not getting cocky, calling it how it is.

You struggled to make 200 in the first innings but you expect to chase down 400+ in overcast conditions on day 4 and 5?
