From an Indian point of view once Southee goes I think they can wrap up the tail and the side for under 100. Keeping the chase to 400, they would have taken that after the end of their 1st innings this morning. Just stay disciplined and pitch the ball up and chase the edge. They're starting to spray it around a bit, since Shami went off. Trying too hard for that seventh wicket.

For the Hobbits what would be great for them is if they did something like what OZ did to England in Perth before they declared. Twatto and Bailey belting Swann into retirement and Clouderson into mediocrity before declaring with England spirits at a low.

Unfortunately Southee :out and not sure who else can lash a few now.

Watling's gotta take the responsibility here. 11 runs from 70 is like Boycott on percs. It was one thing to bat around Taylor and then Southee but he's the last recognised batsman. He's gotta take some initiative.

If I were Macca I would tell Watling and the tail that they want to be bowling at India tonight and they want a lead of about 425. That's 40 runs in about 15 overs, pretty doable. Ideally want to finish with a flurry and maybe declare soon as they get the 425 assuming they're not bowled out. It's about wresting momentum back and doing what the opposition doesn't expect. Right now momentum's all with India.

Looking at NZ's two innings totals, 1st innings 503 and the 2nd innings they may be rolled for under 100 lol. You'd think this was a Mumbai Dark Side of the Moon wicket but it isn't.

How did Aussies and Kiwis get that accent?

I mean, most of them are descendants of Brits. But their accent is very different.

I know its Off topic. Just looking for a quick answer from Ozgod, SpaceCat, Aman etc.

Off Topic:

For people who live in the East Coast you cannot get a better timing for a cricket match than when its played in New Zealand. 5pm start for a test match is just perfect #thumpsupkiwis

Enzed may not get to 100. They may not get to 90

I live in Florida.

Match starts right when I come home from work :D

Get ready to bat boys Kiwi's just imploded even I wasn't expecting this #MightyIshant cementing his place till retirement

Years of being relatively isolated. You get local variances in populations. Even in Australia the Sydney accent is a bit different to the western NSW one which is different to the Melbourne one and the Queensland accent is different again, a bit slower. They talk funny in WA too if you ask Convict. Probably not enough for a non native speaker to recognise but an Ozzie can usually tell where someone is from.

And not everyone is a decendant of the Poms - one in every four Australians was born overseas. 30% are of English descent the rest come from elsewhere in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. And there are the indigenous Australians. We're a pretty mongrel lot these days. My father is of Spanish descent.

We could finish the game today, Pujara is probably the only bat who will be able to grind it here.

This is truly woeful from the Hobbits. From 503 to 80-odd lol.

Geez I wish we could drop Fulton and Rutherford now

Practically 2 down before we even start that too against India

True. But it's still woeful anytime you get rolled for 80-odd. Most of NZ's shots were pretty dire.
Yep, we've played poor shots but this wicket has been difficult. SA are probably the only team who could score 300+ here.

Pitch needs application, when you're chasing 400 you cant swing it there. Need patience, Pujara is the danger man.

Gotta look at Watling too. I know he is a keeper first but 11 byes isn't anything to write home about. And he looked like a total rabbit at the crease. Ronchi is a hack but geez I can't believe you wanted Watling to open.

Thanks for the Answer.

But all Aussie Players seem to have Brit Surnames. So I assumed that most Aussies must be Former Brits.

He can see of the new ball at least. Ronchi is a hack and we don't have any other keepers.

Watling can't bat with the tail, Ryder can. It's more so to accommodate a keeper and Ryder.

You reckon this is a 90 all out wicket? I don't think so. I think a lot of this has been in the mind. Poor shots brought on by pressure of a possible epic win. When you're batting with 300+ runs in the bank there shouldn't be much pressure.

I think the new ball has definitely been swinging due to the humidity in the air. It's swing through the air more so than off the wicket. It's been a typical Enzed wicket, seams around in the morning and always a bit of movement through the day but it's not substantially worse than it was on Days 1 or 2 IMO.

But when India come out to bat the pressure will be on them, because now they have a sniff. The chance of a win does strange things to some people. It's going to be a very tough ask to score 300 let alone 400. But not impossible if they apply themselves. If Pujara and Kohli bat like they did in SA they might give it a shake.

Need 400 for psychological boost

Really disappointed by Southee, he might as well had gone for it rather than hit it straight to a fielder <.<

Yep, you hit the nail on the head.

Too much for Indian batsmen I presume. But getting blown away for under 100 to trundzillas is pathetic.

It's down right embarrassing, especially to this team

Had it been SA or Australia I'd be fine but India...

That's because cricket is still predominately an Anglo sport at the top level in OZ. It's much less multicultural than rugby league or aerial ping pong, where you get heaps of Islanders, Aborigines, Italians, Greeks playing. They seem to prefer the contact sports more. That's why we were so excited about Khawaja and also Gurinder Sandhu making it to Test and first class cricket. There was a bloke called Richard Chee Quee that played for NSW years ago that was our first Chinese first class player.

Southee needs to bat at 11, no brain at all.

Boult deserves to bat ahead of him.

I thought that would go out of the stadium but its straight to the fielder.

If they can cowlash a few more and get to 100 they will annoy Dhoni

Some angry Indian posted this on cricinfo Bhakta : "Dhoni you psycho!!! this is not the time to use the part timers!!"

It proves that even a broken clock and trundzillian lineup can turn up sometimes. Probably got cocky and underestimated them did Macca and co.

Fortunately we had a 301 run lead or we'd be in deep trouble.

If they can get another 10 runs I reckon they should declare

Umpire should have catch it, he was playing for India in last innings anyway.

LMAO the ball is just going anywhere. This is really REALLY annoying for an opposing captain, when you can't get two tailend cowlashers out. Why don't they just bowl yorkers at the stumps?
