Ryder comes from the Gurusinha, David Boon, Ranatunga school of batting :)

India being smashed here, which is quite surprising as I thoughth they had the measure of NZ after the first test.

Is this a flat pitch?

he might have the same dietician as the aforementioned musketeers but he is more aggressive in his approach and therefore better to watch:D

good for batting but not quite a travesty.

Been really impressed wit ryder he looks class compared to the rest of the nz batters. He has soo much time to play his shots always a good sign.

There was some assistance early on but overall Mclean Park tends to be a batting paradise!

I think 40 runs per wicket is average in 1st two inns of tests here!

Harbhajan's bowling was encouraging, plenty of flight and loop...but New Zealand played extremely well. We need to strike early tomorrow with the new ball and then close out this innings ASAP.

We can still win if we hold them to 500.

I think Indias batting will enjoy playing on this surface. Kiwis need to get up to 450-500 atleast and then there bowlers need to come to the party.

DK dropped another catch :)))
I dont know why they keep selecting him, he can't even collect the ball cleanly. I am sure they have better keeper than him in India? :13:

Second one is not a catch. Cricinfo wrongly reported it.There was a daylight between bat and ball. But he has to learn to collect the ball without dropping even if it is not an edge.

That is so true :(

complacency thy name is India.

Really a shambolic performance . Karthik and Yuvi :pissed:

You left out Dravid He was awful. It is time to hand out voluntary retirement. So far he has dropped 3 catches in this series.

Dravid is looking bad yes.But of all the catches, the last one by Yuvi hurt me a lot .How the damn can any one drop such a sitter? It was a simple catch and he made it a complication by over doing and over enthusiasm.

That is price you pay for not having specialist slip fielder. Not just catching. General fielding was also poor. Especially Munaf patel and Yuvraj.

Yes,poor field placement from Sehwag .Yuvi was not meant to be there.

Generally it was a low quality cricket from India.Brilliant effort from Ryder though.

This will be a draw. Enzed will get bowled out for 650 and India will be 7 wickets down for 1000 by stumps on day 5.

Tommorrow a crucial day for India, grab wickets, get batting, score 300 plus highr than NZ's total, then there's a good game in store.

which match are you watching ?

Buddy, you responded to my comment way late. The thread was very slow yesterday and Munaf was hit for 16 runs in an over by Taylor, that's what I was talking about :)

Oops, my mistake then bro. I was following the game just with cricinfo, and wasn't watching live. I didn't pay attention, sorry :)

dont have to be sorry , happens :)

India will be looking for early wickets i guess. New zealand still have quite a bit of batting to come in mcullum and Vettori!

That was 4th highest number of runs scored by New Zealand on the first day of a test match.

The commentators talking about the fact that New Zealand are the only country barring Bangladesh and Zimbabwe who haven't had a batsman score 300.

Crowes 299 v Kiwis the highest then?

Bad start for India, 400 approaching no wickets this morning.

NZ will probably want to bat big here, not renowned for their batting but this Jesse Ryder chap is doing quite wonderfully.

Ryder 156(262) - Franklin 24(106)
Current partnership 99 runs, 34.3 overs, RR: 2.86 (Franklin 46, Ryder 48)
New Zealand 393/4 (104.0 ov) @ 3.77
last 10 overs 28-0
Current spell - Sharma 7 overs - Zaheer Khan 11 overs

Kiwis on a run crawl today! need to speed things up here!

This game could do with an injection of pace....105 MPH kind of pace....

A very interesting Draw on our hands here... I know we are having a few off days here but when you let batsmen of Jesse Ryder's quality get big 100's it is quite a disturbing thought...

I think they are trying to tire the Indians. They will probably have a go once Ryder reaches 200 and NZ reaches somewhere 475.

Run rate of 3.81 still is not bad, it means if they bat for 2/3 of today, they'll have 600+ on the board.

Given that Franklin is still there I think the pitch is quite flat.

NZ will hope India succumb to the pressure.

50 for Franklin who to be frank is not a test match number 6 batsmen!

Franklin Bonapart scored his 2nd 50 of career. He has one century too. He is playing his 25th match and this is his 34th innings. He scored 200 runs in 3 innings and in the rest 579- 200 (something)= x runs (something like 320-350??? runs in 31 innings)

110.2 Harbhajan Singh to Ryder, OUT, Franklin is run out. What a mess. He has himself to blame. It was slower, bit more air on the off and middle and was pushed to left of covers and Ryder calleds him over for a quick single. Franklin was not ready at all , didn't back up and was late to respond. The throw from Yuvraj comes in to Karthik who breaks the stumps.
JEC Franklin run out 52 (180m 122b 7x4 0x6) SR: 42.62

New Zealand 416/5 (111.0 ov

300 up for Ryder. he has scored 186 off 300 balls- 8th match, 753 runs and average of 68.45 (includes this current innings)
New Zealand 443/5 (116 overs) @ 3.81
last 10 overs 33/1

Ryder's a class act. He's turning me into his fan.

Anyways India needs to play to win, if Sehwag gets off to a flier then anything is possible.

6/541.

Anything is not possible, either a Kiwi win or a draw this Test.

Looks like the great Indian Test winning streak will stop at....one Test. :D

As I said before, no Dhoni = no India

wonder if you were around in the Adelaide test when Australia posted 500+ and we won the game?

Also we won after following on against you in Kolkatta, so yes, anything is possible.

You wanna bet on an Indian win?

haha I'm actually flat broke.

Indian win isn't likely, but not impossible. It's all about thinking positive

Wonder if the pitch is Travesty or the bowlers are delivering travesty spells.

Do you all think that NZ will keep batting till they get out or will declare today to put India in for a small tricky session (assuming NZ doesn't get all out)?

I think they will keep batting...

New Zealand needs to win this match, they will get India in for at least an hour or so.

6/592 this is now the fifth highest score ever for New Zealand.

Highest is 671 so they might not get that but the second highest is 630 so they might get that.

630 was against India in Mohail in 2003.

Vettori gets his 50! NZ have scored 601 runs at a RR of 3.98 so far. Pretty soon, the RR will cross 4.0, the way they are playing...
