aight guys time to buck up. New Zealand could have batted us out of the match and set us 500+ in 150 overs.

We need to get to 500 in our second innings and we still have a chance to draw or miraculously pull off a victory
 
Why enforce the follow on? I reckon they should have sent the Indians out to chase leather for another couple of hours, put a quick 150 or so on, then declare at 3/150 or something. This is a bad move by Vettori. I reckon India will make him pay.

It could be a bad move since batting 4th on this pitch won't be an advantage...
 
This is a dunce act by Vettori. He'll regret this. Sehwag and Co will not make the same mistakes twice.
 
Vitori is hoping to bag a couple of wkts before end of the day to force pressure on the Indians. Not a bad move as long as bowlers able to keep bowling well.

I don't think Sehwag will change his approach. He will play the way he usually plays, but the question is how long he will stay there.

It's stupid. They could have batted for 10 overs just to **** India off and make them field, then put India in. I have a feeling India will make 500+ this second dig.
 
Lets see .. is Sharma gonna come out to open batting :P
 
Sehwag is the key, if he gets out early, india will be under pressure for the rest of the match

IDK about that .. India are a very moody team .. once the collapse starts it keeps on going.
 
india need to bat till the middle of 5th day to save this match, my money is on newzealand

Sehwag is G.O.N.E? It's like dream come true. Nevertheless, it was expected since India can't handle under pressure despite of being one of the best team ever.
 
This game is in the bag for NZ. Only Laxman or Sachin can save them from defeat tomorrow.

Kind of on the fence with the move. Now that Sehwag has gone it might look like a decent decision.

I think NZ were wary of India's chase v England last December.

The main thing is in that match is England were on top in that match but completely lost momentum in the way they batted, I guess Vettori saw that India had just collapsed. There was a short time left in the day and in that he could really enforce the pressure on the Indian side.
 
Good day for the kiwis. They need another 9 wickets which i think they will slowly pick off. Intresting to see if they have to bat again or win by an inns. India in big trouble here!
 
Pretty much all the indian middle order batsmen got out to flat footed swipes outside off stump were not a single player got to the pitch of the ball.

A truely pathetic self-inflicted collapse.

Sehwags shot in 2nd inns was a joke as well!

I couldn't find a direct list (anyone have one?) but I think the cricinfo statsguru provides me with the info.

(looking at when batting teams against New Zealand have finished 200+ in defecit at the end of their innings, not the final innings of course and not including minnows)

we will be under pressure for sure , cos winning from here is very difficult ,so most of our batsmen will be in a dilemma weather to play their natural game or play for a draw ..& normally when we play for a draw , we screw up ...am still hopeful though ..all wil depend on this pair and two batsmen to follow !
 
We can still save this test match if we bat time. We've done it before and we can do it again. Also it's important not to get bogged down. S/R of 40-50 will do just fine.

We're just another 267 behind. We need to score around 270 runs at the loss of MAX 3 more wickets. Then it'll be a good fashioned cat and mouse on day 5.

But one thing at a time. Let's go India, Zindabad!
 
Huh, I was asleep for the whole day just to make sure I don't miss any of the action after 3:30 AM here in India :D
 
I was really hoping Tendulkar and Dravid/Laxman to build a huge partnership and save us. Tendulkar was batting so well, that soft dismissal devastated me. And Yuvi and Dinesh Karthik did nothing to add on some runs. That's why we need Dhoni so badly in every match we play.

Each of them did not miraculously still good enough to save .Well done Gambhir especially,Dravid,Tendulkar and VVS just too cool .Thanks for Yuvraj to stay there .

India will have to bat 4 1/2 or even 5 sessions on last two days to save or even attempt to win this game some how.

he's been our most reliable batsmen for the past 2 years ESPECIALLY

241 to go until the lead is finished. 77 overs to bat out in the day.

Let's go boys.
 
Can't see any reason why India won't make the same mistake twice. I think they'll get to stumps easily and erase this deficit.
 
LBW shout refused by the umpire against Gambir, hawk eye says juct clipping the top of off stump, fair enough decision.

Important not to fall into the trap of just defending. Nothing is going to erase this defecit except runs....doesn't mean go buckwild, but if Gambhir and Dravid are still there at lunch, they can motor on in the other sessions.
 
The only motoring Dravid is likely to do is on a playstation!, I am willing to believe he even drives a car slowly.
 
Kiwi's thought they had got Gambhir caught but umpire says not out. Hot spot confirms it as a good decision

Great start already. Rahul seems to have settled now. I think Rahul will gracefully retire after this series with positive image and leave good impression behind.
 
India still need to bat another 90-100 overs to save this match - a tall order.

60 ish overs left today so they should be level or slightly ahead with NZ should they bat those out today without losing more than a couple of wickets.

72.2 Vettori to Dravid, OUT, Caught at short leg! Vettori has broken through here. Dravid doesn't seem to be happy with the decision. And we can see why. The bat hit the pad and the ball bounded off the pad to short leg where How dives forward to take it. It drifted in from round the stumps on the leg and middle line, Dravid shaped to defend, the bat brushed the front pad. That must have been the double noise. A fine innings, though. India trail by 151 as SRT enters.

Dravid was shaking his head when the appeal went up and opened his mouth in shock when the finger went up. He walked off quickly but kept shaking his head and hit the ground with his bat after a few steps.
