We are only 75 minutes into this match and the pitch is already losing its green tinge as the grass dies in the sun.

By Tea it will be a belter to bat on.

I think NZ needs to eke out at least 160 to remain in this match. Because there are no terrors in this wicket if you know how to leave balls in the corridor of uncertainty.

Consider too that the ball is a Kookaburra, and it's sixteen overs old.

Batting should be getting much easier soon. And throwing your wicket away before a Kookaburra is twenty overs old - and therefore dead - is really criminal.

Marsh tends to pick up a wicket in his first over against us.

mccullum is such an overrated batsman in tests. except for that one year where he smashed a few indian bowlers, he's had a fairly average test career.

Nz have scored big here in 2nd innings so they need to grind out something here

As always, we have got to twenty overs and the Kookaburra is doing nothing.

Even Craig and Bracewell might score some runs.

Good fight back by these 2. 200 not looking impossible now with the ball not doing much.

Ideally want to scatch out 200+ here and have Aus 10 for 2 at stumps. Here's hoping.

From what I am hearing in the radio the pitch isnt that nasty it's just been good bowling and poor batting.

Hope we have Ross Taylor back for the next test. He's such a key man for our batting lineup.

This is why Tests are best when not held in a stadium....

As Lalit Modi says, let T20 earn money so we can keep real Test cricket thriving.

Speaking of which, dozens of Aussies were turned away from the ground today. They didn't realise that Tests sell out here, and if you haven't got a ticket, you risk missing out.

Yeah they didn't realise that you have crowds that only fit 10,000 people

Hmmm is this Anderson test debut?

Must hurt them that Taylor is out

Not even 10,000 Convict - 6,500 here and 8,000 at Christchurch!

Good toss to win for Oz. But then again won't be too long before Oz have to face the music as well I would think. Should be good watching.

Anyway, what are your predictions guys for B-Macs final innings?

I'll say 0(3) and 42(14)

Damn! almost! he lasted 4 more deliveries then I had predicted Junaids :(

IMO more tests should be played at these kinda of grounds in smaller nations. A sold out 10,000 seater is miles better than a 1/5th full 50,000 seater. Creates a good atmosphere too as well I bet.

Kiwis should put some grass seeds on the pitch before they go off :afridi

Sent from pone

Plenty of grass there to go around :))

Can we get 100? 97/7. You simply cannot come back from a bombed innings like that. Test lost in a session.

I have reason to suspect that shaz619 might actually be Chris Cairns, and already know McCullum's scores!

it's pretty nice at these grounds

On 2nd thoughts, we did pretty well for an FTB team on the Lords greentop against the Duke ball IcedCoffee:srini

A duck for Mccullum in his last Test :)))

Is this the first time NZ is batting first on a greentop in the recent period?
We always lose the toss, the only time we've won a toss recently was against Lanaka. Before that we lost the toss to India and SL here, both times they rolled us for low totals.

Can't enjoy this after having watched our batsmen prove they're no better than the Aussie FTB's.

Boult is easily the most entertaining number 11 in world cricket :))

Not all doom and gloom, we still have plenty of overs to bowl at Aus today.

Whats the lowest NZ have rolled Australia for?.
Not sure, we did however bowl you out within 25 overs in the ODI at Eden Park. You'd never been bowled out within 25 overs before.

Ball still doing a bit.

If we can get Smith and Khawaja quick, think we might just sneak a first innings lead.

If we can get these two today we are in business

I doubt it.

The grass is dark brown now, as should be McCullum's pants now.

It's a lovely batting track. Good, true bounce and zero seam or swing.

And the Kookaburra is twelve overs old, and as always McCullum has over bowled Trent Boult.

NZ don't really have any seam bowlers anyway.

Smith will cash in now, but Bracewell has had him dropped at second slip twice and has had him playing and missing too.

He really is the most technically flawed top class batsman that I've ever seen.

Every single ball to him needs to be on a good or full length at least six inches outside off stump.

When was the first time?

Craig missed him in consecutive overs, although the first was on the half-volley.
