Michael: "Poor Luke Woodcock - he has a curse on debut matches! Remember Ross Taylor dropping a sitter in his first over on T20 debut? The batsman was Mohammad Hafeez..."

From Cricinfo interesting pint
"... Unfortunately, a fresh middle order comprising Asad Shafiq,
Umar akmal and fawad alam was not given the required time to flourish and perform consistently."

We always go on blaming Afridi for brain-farts or Umar Akmal for doing nothing, sometimes Razzaq too but if someone is to blame then its players like Misbah, ODI is about rotating strike hitting the odd boundaries, finding the gaps, building a solid platform for the last 10 or so overs to get that extra 80 odd runs or so...

With players like Misbah who not only does not score he stops others from pacing the innings, puts too much pressure on the in form batsman at the other end and then bcoz of the slow RR puts pressure on upcoming batsman to get the team to a decent total!

If he remains in the World Cup starting 11 then I would say never expect Pakistan to get anywhere near 300 with him in the team!

Precisely.

And people will blame Afridi/ Razzaq/ Akmal for being "irresponsible" and wasting the "good platform" set by the likes of Misbah.

Even now, there's far too much pressure on Hafeez to score because Misbah simply refuses anything but tuk tuk.

They need to survive until 30 overs and then start hitting some shots. Wickets in hand + a long batting order.

Misbah is only good for drawing test matches. He is a very good batsman who cant score.

Rafiq Khan: "To Gab: You think Younis Khan can stabilize anything with his average of 32?! Younis Khan himself is always part of the collapse

Flicked away for one more. Misbah getting risky now, getting right infront of his stumps.

Very OTT reactions on Misbah.

These two need to keep up this partnership, we have 3 big hitters coming after.

I'm OK with Misbah IF he can continue and play some shots like he did in the first ODI to sort out the SR and RR.

I do agree atm he is farming it a bit too much though, poor Hafeez :))

Yet people still want Misbah in the ODI team, they still believe he is the right captain for ODI, what people do not realise is ODI is only 50 overs, with 2 bowling power plays, middle overs where the game slows down, and then batting powerplay to get to a decent total BUT how on earth do we get to decent totals when a good start was washed down the drain bcoz of Misbah, and then pressure leads to a wicket, wickets lead to collapse and by the time the powerplay is taken we are 7-8 wickets down, Misbah still at the crease, hits 2 fours and a 6 gets his 50 stays not out but the total is 190 after 50 overs...

YET ppl still adore this guy, he's made for test not ODI but thats Pakistan Cricket and its fans for you!

The problem is when he gets out now, he would have already wasted about 50 deliveries with no benefit to the team.

Pretty unfair.

In a side where most batsmen have an average of 20 odd, 32 is a luxury!
