Pakistan (169/1) thrash Australia (163) by 9 wickets in the second ODI to level the 3-match series 1-1

Nothing would make me happier than seeing Saim score his first ODI fifty today!!

It's more a case of the sum of the parts being better. With Starc and Cummins in the pace-attack his effectiveness is accentuated. Otherwise he is nowhere near either if those two in-terms of quality.

Like I said, this Australian team is there to beat based on relative strengths of the team. On potential, Pakistan should beat this Aussie team in their home 7/8 games out of 10.

Gilly trying to take shine away from Saim's performance, short square boundaries, they were same size when Aussie were playing in familiar ground.

Most people want pakiatan to win

Agree apart from bowling dots he has not done much especially against Pakistan from memory bar one or two matches.

Bro he should be guaranteed for a long time even if he refuses to bowl a ball.

There is no other batsman in Pakistan with the same potential in LOI cricket.
 
Brilliant batting by Saim. The intent has been fantastic. Good strategy by Rizzu. No defensive pathetic mindset. Rizzu biggest fault was physics chemistry with Babar.

I am salivating at the prospect of Fakhar and Saim opening for Pakistan.

He is more than half decent , he turns the ball sharply both ways at 95kph , what else do you want from a non regular spinner?

i actaully really liked hafeez's batting towards the end of his career. he was wild. Look at his sr and how it shot up in the last 3 years of his career (In T20I's)

Like it or not, this is Rizwan’s team now, as he is the captain of the Pakistan cricket team. When Pakistan does well, he’ll always be part of the discussion, whether you care or not.

True. But I feel like his bowling has some real potential as well. He bowled an absolute beauty to start his spell today. And he can mix it up too by bowling off-spin and leg-spin.
 
Saim is hitting sixes with ease against this formidable Australian bowling lineup!

Latter half of his career, yes. He completely transformed as a batter once he moved down the order. Played some absolute clutch knocks in the CT final and the 2019 WC.

Infact, IIRC, it was Hafeez who won us our last ODI in Australia when we were chasing 260 odd at the MCG.
 
Abdullah happy to take back seat. I want Fakhar to open with Saim so bad.
 
This is one of the greatest ODI innings i have watched by a Pakistani batsman in Australia. Just sublime.

One day you all say drop Saim, then he scores a 50, then you all say he should be an perm opener. There seems to be no method to the thinking.
 
Refreshing to see a pak player going at better than a run a ball in an ODI.
