Pakistan will resume on Day 3 of the first Test against West Indies at Multan Cricket Stadium with a 202-run lead, following a dominant performance by the spin duo, Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, on Day 2.
At stumps on Day 2, Pakistan were 109/3 in their second innings after 31 overs, with Shan Masood contributing 52 off 70 balls (2 fours, 2 sixes) and Mohammad Huraira adding 29 runs from 58 balls (3 fours). Kamran Ghulam and Saud Shakeel will continue their innings when play resumes tomorrow.
Earlier, Noman and Sajid combined to dismantle the West Indies batting lineup, restricting them to just 137 all out in 25.2 overs. Noman’s outstanding figures of 5/39 in 11 overs earned him his seventh Test five-wicket haul.
Sajid Khan made early inroads with the new ball, taking four wickets as the West Indies slumped to 22/4. He struck twice in consecutive balls in the third over and then twice more in the fifth over, leaving the visitors in deep trouble.
Jomel Warrican, at No.10, was the highest scorer for the West Indies with an unbeaten 31 off 24 balls, including four boundaries and one six. Jayden Seales (22 off 13 balls) and Gudakesh Motie (19) also chipped in with valuable contributions.
Warrican and Seales formed a resilient last-wicket partnership, adding 46 runs from 21 balls.
Pakistan resumed their first innings at 143/4, but could only manage 87 more runs before both Saud Shakeel (84 off 157 balls, 6 fours) and Mohammad Rizwan (71 off 133 balls, 9 fours) were dismissed by Kevin Sinclair. Seales and Warrican claimed three wickets each for the West Indies.
With Pakistan's strong position heading into Day 3, they will look to build on their lead, while the West Indies will need to make early breakthroughs to stay in the contest.
