What's new

Pakistan (352/4) defeat Australia (348/8) by 6 wickets to win the 2nd ODI - Series is tied at 1-1

Really impressed with Imam's innings today.

As a person who's not too fond of his batting, today was definitely a step in the right direction.

What an innings. Go on Imam boy, finish this off.

Waqar Younis calling a 110 SR an excellent SR on a flat pitch against bowlers with zero international experience

No wonder we will never win a WC again with this 1992 thinking

In hindsight, this is still a poor innings looking at the pitch and the bowlers and the RRR, pure statpading at this point.

You really just made that comparison?

Yes. He has rarely shown intent rarely. There are modern batsmen in the world going for chases but Babar Azam is happy and content to block. Didn’t go for the chase in either Test and didn’t go for the chase the other night and isn’t looking like he’s going for the chase tonight.

He plays way too much for personal milestones and is content playing at an average pace.

I think this is the crucial moment, if one of them gets out who will be the next batter? They might send Ifti/Khushdil to speed up the inning and if that backfires we’ll be in trouble. 🤞🏼

there it is .. Waqar younis saying Inzamam would be proud of him. There is the parchi argument . Despite this innings there are many players better than him in domestic not getting a chance.

Listening to Waqar, you'd think Imam has won Pakistan a WC!

"His family would be proud...his uncle would be proud. Huge day"

Same here, I think the loss last game really hurt him despitescoring a century.

Hope to see Babar and Imam begin to play this brand of cricket in every game moving forward, not just when we need 350

This century from Imam will ruin Pakistan for the next year. Now he will selected against better bowling and fail expectedly on challenging pitches and we will be rolling our eyes again

Which is exactly what we need to see. Our dislike and annoyance with the team only occurs when we see the same mistakes over and over again. Imam and Babar playing with more intent is all we needed to see today to know that they are indeed learning from previous matches - something that wasn't always evident

There is always excuses to undermine performances of Pakistani players. Pitch was not flatwhwn Pakistani bowlers bowling to players who aremore adept to playing modern one day cricket. In short Imam has been brilliant, as good as Malcolm and better than Labuschagne inning.

The partnership today shows what a mess they made in the 1st ODI.

What should he have done here , get out first ball ? Does he select his opposition and conditions ?

Go on then name someone better to replace him?

You won't have one lol

If he's the best of a bad bunch then he's still in the line up

If he can be a consistent HTB, it would save us a lot of embarrassment vs touring teams

Abdullah Shafique
Muhammad Haris
Shan Masood
Abdul Bangalzai

all who score faster than him in Limited overs and are more talented and can perform the same against this bowling attack

Only 5 runs behind where Aussies were at this stage.

and there you go. Imam throws away his wicket.

PURE

STAT

PADDER

he always plays for himself. never the team

Imam deserves every criticism he got in the first game but today's knock was pure class.

He was fortunate to be paired with Fakhar and then Babar both of whom scored at a good pace

I don’t have any confidence in the middle-order to chase this down.

Well played Imam, the idea was right but the execution was poor.

Need to carry on playing attacking. Target the 1 boundary per over or singles and a few double. 8 of each over. Dont leave more than 75-80 of last 10

Imam literally got out trying to hit a 6 and people will still bash him as selfish stat padder?

This has been a brilliant knock, we are in the game only because of him. Give credit where it's due.

Its far from easy guys. This is the stage when it gets difficult to bat with older balls. Hope dew is beginning to take effect

What rubbish...he tried to hit a maximum and got out

Because he relaxed. Purely because he thought his job was done now that he got 100. thats selfish. thats the problem with all stat padders. this is not one time. this is consistent with him

What is Iftikhar in the team for? To up the average age of the team

Much better today from Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq:

2nd ODI - 111 runs from 15.2 overs

1st ODI - 96 runs from 19.4 overs

Imam batted amazingly and got out trying to keep it going, that's what we all wanted him to do. This is white-ball cricket, you can't clear the boundary every time.

It's Babar's turn to lead this chase now, he is the set batsman and the responsibility right now is on him while Riz gets into it.

Dot balls are key. They have to keep the strike turning over ball after ball, do not waste balls.

Imam ul Haq vs Teams not named Zimbabwe as an opener

100 off 125 OUT vs SL
101 off 116 OUT vs SA
151 off 131 OUT vs ENG
100 off 100 OUT vs BAN
103 vs 96 OUT vs AUS
106 vs 97 OUT vs AUS

the outlier is England
you can see the pattern. Never carries

Gosh. So much hate for Imam. Forget how he got selected in team. He isn't the only one who got in the team due to connections. It happens in every field of work.

But he has done exactly what an opener should've done in both match. You lost previous match because of remaining batsmen failing to take benefit of foundation he laid. And he has player brilliantly today as well.
Give credit where it's due.

This is where we lose the plot, just one wicket and breaks are on, and these dots will bring wickets when they will try to slog.
