Salman and Rizwan both played a typical crucial partnership to win the game. Rizwan holding it down from one end and not letting the scoring rate dip, and Salman playing passive aggressively. Neither of these innings should be undermined. Both were crucial for winning.
 
Rizwan and Salman need to be credited for never letting the run rate slip down and for constantly finding gaps and scoring for 40 overs straight. This requires skill, patience and temperament.

When the shots came, they came. But the fact that you never saw a moment where they felt like they need to block out an over or two is commendable.

Both innings were crucial for this game and without either one of them, Pakistan does not win

The credit of that goes to Salman when it mattered the most. He was hitting a boundary at the end of some overs where Rizwan would eat up 3-4 dots

I agree, and one has to go out of their way and appreciate Agha's grit. What an absolute character this guy is. He is not like your typical weak minded pakistani players. He is a different league. Without Agha, i dont think Rizwan would have managed to hold the other end.

This is the difference between a pro stat padder like Babar versus a match winner like Agha.
 
Good performance by Pakistan. Congratulations! Chasing anything above 350 successfully is always a great achievement.

Wonderful gritty knock by him and Salman was just phenomenal. It was like watching two Virat kohlis chasing a big total.

Most clinical chase i have ever seen by Pakistan team.

Make these haters cry even more. Loving the tears.
 
Honestly an emotional moment.

Who could have imagined during all those years of difficulties that we would see a record chase in front of a home crowd in NSK on the eve of an ICC tournament at home.

We must recognise all those who played a small part in bringing cricket home. These types of moments seemed like they would never happen in Pakistan.
 
Pakistan are now hot favorites to win the CT, alongside India.

Should be a fun tournament. 🔥

Credit needs to go to both batters equally. They were solid and performed equally well.

Agha + Rizwan. They were insync and I honestly can't tell who performed better between these 2.

This was definitely a better chase then wc 2023 where it was clear rizwan's innings was better then Abdullah's.

It's good that their playing NZ before CY opener. NZ and India are the 2 strongest teams of the tournament given England's and sa's current form + Aus essentially being a minnow this tournament.

They need all the practise they can get against such a side.

With this bowling attack, not going to happen. Our pacers are run giving sprayers and our spinners are unimpactful. It will be a repeat of the 2023 ODI WC
 
So pakistan can Chase Big Total without Babar Azam but according to cult Babar fan's pakistan can't Chase big total or win the matches

But

Without Rizwan holding it from the other end, Pak doesn't win either.

A century while chasing 350+ is class, no matter how you put it. This was a full team batting effort and it absolutely is not just "all Salman Ali Agha"

I don’t think any sane fan here expects Babar to feature in Pakistan’s highest run chases.

It’s mostly about Fakhar’s contributions, and to do this without him is commendable atleast.

These guys are not Pak fans. Zero understanding of cricket who thinks Asif Ali should open and Azam Khan is better than Babar and that he is Akshay Kumar. Justice is served hahahaha
 
I can't believe the bias and toxicity in this forum is to the point that we are having to discuss who had the better innings. Anything to put Rizwan down. Give due credits for the day, be happy, and move on.

Everyone should come together and back the team for the CT with the squad at hand.
 
Some posters are trying to belittle Pakistan's win, it's a huge win after the trauma team was in under Shan Masood in red ball

The weakness is there to see everyone.

Rizwan is still too slow while chasing 350+

Even 6s are far between.

Any other team would have had capitulated in this aspect.

RSA ODI team is rubbish.

But you didn’t do it without Fakhar’s contribution

Had Pakistan scored their standard 50-60 in the first 10 overs,

I’m pretty sure this game was gone even with 8-9 wickets in hand.

That 90 in the first ten meant another 260 off the remaining 240 balls on this road. It makes a huge difference when you have a proper powerplay!

I just hope we win the CT one. That's the most important match for us because there are now guarantees how they will do against India. I don't care about them winning the tri-series final that much.
 
Can we please send Babar back to 3 though? Kab samjh ayi gi ye baat?

Also, I think Ghulam is a better option than Tayyab at 6. Although Tayyab hasn't don't anything wrong so far.
 
Well played by both Rizwan and Salman. Pakistan couldn't have won without either of them having played the innings that they did.

Actually before this match it was Babar who played a starring role in Pakistan's highest ODI runchase when he scored 114 against Australia in Lahore as Pakistan gunned down 349.

So yeah, that makes your comment look kinda foolish.

He did yes, but when you talk about Pakistan chasing huge targets it’s all Fakhar and in sha Allah.

Specially in the form Babar is in right now, he is not featuring in any 300+ chases unfortunately.

That catch by Salman of Beretzkee allowed pakistan to bowl 3-4 overs of a quiet period as well.

All of these things made a big difference.

I think he will work out ok as a stop gap opener in th CT. Our batting line up seems balanced and longer with him at the top.

Calm down I’m no hater, just stating facts.

I have has run-ins with Rana and co regarding Babar, but on current form you cannot support the mediocre returns he is consistently delivering.

Pakistan has a golden opportunity to go on a title-winning run at home. They have a world-class fast-bowling attack, they have good batters, and the home crowd is going to be completely behind them. Above all, they have plenty to be confident about with some excellent performances in the past few months. All they just need is the fielding and certain other players to click.

Their problem is that they watch ODI cricket with a T20 mindset, never understanding that ODI cricket can be played in multiple ways. Each team has its own style and strengths, and they play this format according to their capabilities. With every post they make, they only expose their lack of understanding of the game.
