Pakistan (355/4) defeat South Africa (352/5) by 6 wickets in a historic chase to book spot in the final of Tri-Nation ODI series against New Zealand

If Pakistan chase it down, this will be their highest successful chase in ODIs. Their best currently is 349 against Australia in 2022.
 
Top knock by Rizwan - after keeping for 50 overs and led the side. He is the only all-rounder in this team to be honest, we tend to forget that W Keeping is a specialist job and one of the most tiring jobs in cricket. .... and Captaining PCT is probably the toughest job in cricket - everyone has something to say about it.
 
Salman looks like sardar. Was his ancestors Sikh?
Guy has the looks of sardars of Punjab
 
Congrats to both Rizwan & Salman for getting hundreds and when it looked like Pakistan were in trouble. One heck of a partnership.

If it's outside the Powerplay it doesn't count as a six so yes we can subtract those lol
 
Tayyab is the weakest link in this team. Not suited for 6. Even kamran is a better option than him.

Main problem will be bowling BTW, similar to wc 2023. This game is eerily similar to Sri Lanka game.

But Pakistan will lose all its games if they bowl 2nd, especially if husnain and khsudil are bowling.

Good news is if they manage to squeeze through to semi's then England, Aus or sa on current form shouldn't bother pk too much.

NZ and India are the big guns which will be difficult to overcome.

I just switched back on. Not in a million years did I think of this scenario. I was thinking it be all fakhar and then flops after that but this has been a magnificent chase. Especially after klaasen comments about Winning and knocking Pak out to get to final. Sweet

You were right about abrar BTW. In this game he wasn't bowling upto par. Very good call.

But naw, Husnain is 100% and issue. Our pacers are injury prone, no way they'll play all 5 matches in the CT, one of em is missing out on 1 or 2 games and husnain will have to fill in.

Akif is in the squad for this tri series. Lets see if he gets a final to play, than lets see if some magical injury appears
 
Salman's lofted six over covers is so beautiful to watch. Saw him doing that against Rabada in SA aswell.
 
That is a career defining innings from both captain and vice captain.

Rizwan is limited in talent but does not let that come in between and gives more than he has.

Where as Babar is that smart kid who thinks that the universe ows him success
 
These are classic Salman Ali Agha shots, but with his own unique flair that sets him apart. Absolutely love this guy!
 
Rana was complaining about these two talking too much when the Saffers were batting...nothing wrong with that as long as you make the bat talk too when it's your turn!

Most teams can't. Aus is the papa of knock outs (Not current aus though, their useless),

And india isn't easy to get rid of. They have a choke nature but their are top team.

Any team would typically struggle against those 2 and by extension England and NZ as well.

It's only sa that's easy picking on knockouts cause they don't how to play knockouts and would lose to Nedtherlands in an icc event.
 
Had Babar been batting with Riz, he would have told him to slow down...Agha the opposite as he has accelerated when required
 
Oh ,what a win. All Pakistanis should feel proud of these two's efforts. Just awesome.
 
Now that both innings are complete clearly we can say it was a 360-365 par pitch.

Thus must give credit for Khusdil who unexpectedly bowled 7 ovs 1/39 here. If he had had a bad day this target could well have been 370-375 and the extra pressure could have cracked game open for SA
