Pakistan A vs Australia A : 1st Test (Jun 26-29)

Over 15.1: Hafeez to Broad, no run, DROPPED, edges the ball to the slips but is put down at first slip

Pakistani disease

Over 35.2: Talha to Broad, no run, DROPPED, edges the ball straight to the man at first slip but is dropped

He didnt get a wicket in 1st innings , maybe hafeez wants to try his main in-form bowlers more to get wickets

I would have preferred Mohd Naveed over Naveed Arif think he has more potential.

They could have send sohail khan , the guy has dropped some weight and looked quite fit in the RBS Cup . He must be aching for a test recall

Talha to White, FOUR, edges the ball past the slips and over the rope for four runs

How unlucky this guys is in this match!!!

Like i said ...... feeling damn sorry for talha..................cmon talha bring on the shorter pitch balls and bouncers :pissed: , no more mr.nice lambu

Hafeez is getting selfish by not giving the bowl to Naved Arif who is one wicket away from 100 first class wickets & join the elite group of few cricketers to get 100 first class wickets before there 20th match

I think he has got some injury. He bowled only 16.5 overs in first innings, batted very low and has not got the ball in the second innings. He was very economical while bowling so i'm sure it has to be an injury which is keeping him out of bowling action.

McKay snares six for Aus A

Clint McKay celebrates a wicket A bag of wickets to speedster Clint McKay has helped Australia A to a comfortable lead at stumps on day three against Pakistan A at Tony Ireland Stadium in Townsville.

The Victorian seamer finished with figures of 6-75 as the hosts rolled out Pakistan A for 339, giving them a 60-run advantage, before going back into bat, finishing on 4-128 at the close of play and an overall lead of 188.

The six-wicket haul gives the 26-year-old his best-ever first-class figures, but he was modest about his return when speaking with media after the day’s play.

“It’s always good to get a few wickets, I got a couple of lucky ones at times, but it’s always good to work off the ground doing your part and just today was my today and hopefully someone else can have a go tomorrow,” McKay said.

“I’ve just been told that my previous best was five-for, so to come out here and represent your county in any sort of form and to get six-for is something very exciting and I’ll remember it for a long time.

“I think we bowled pretty well as a group and to bowl them out for a bit over 300 was a great effort and setup the game nicely.”

With the game in the balance, it will take some attacking cricket from the hosts to a result and McKay said he expected it to be no other way.

“It’s pretty evenly poised at the moment, hopefully we can go out and bat well tomorrow and set a target and have sixty or sixty-five overs to get the ten wickets and get the tour off to a good start,” the quick said.

“Playing cricket in Australia, we always look to win the game of cricket and that’s the most important thing for us at the moment so hopefully we can setup the game well with our batting in the morning and give our bowlers a chance in the afternoon.

“The wicket’s pretty good at the moment, it’s holding together pretty well and they seemed to get a bit of reverse swing late in the day so hopefully we can do that tomorrow when it comes our turn to bowl again and do some damage and win the game.”

Apart from McKay, his Victorian team mate Jon Holland was the only other multiple wicket-taker finishing with 2-39.

Pakistan opener Azhar Ali was the top run-scorer for the visitors with 78, with wicket-keeper Sarfraz Ahmed contributing 56.

Talha and Wahab Riaz have been simply EXCEPTIONAL. Taking a bag full of wickets on their maiden tour of Australia is something that even Waqar Younis and Mohammed Asif failed to achieve.

Pakistan C/D have put in a very encouraging performance against Australia A/B

Wahab Riaz made 20 runs and got 5 wickets in the first innings thats quite good against a aussie team and in the second innings he got now 2 wickets allready lets hope he gets atleast 3 more wickets.I didn't know he can bat too. 21 runs is quite good for a proper bowler

It really is amazing to see the performance of Talha and Wahab who are outshining Bollinger who many believe was unlucky not to be in the Ashes squad !

Kudos also goes to Azhar Ali, Sarfraz Ahmed and Umar Akmal for batting so well against top Aussie bowlers in their backyard.

Sarfraz is just what you want as a keeper-batsman as he's combative and bold. He always scores runs quickly and his first class average is indicative of his talent. He's also top class with the gloves.

If Akmal continues to struggle with the gloves in Tests, I'd seriously consider playing him as a specialist batsman with Sarfraz in the team as well.

Australia A ride on McKay's career best

Australia A 399 and 4 for 128 lead Pakistan A 338 (Azhar Ali 78, Sarfraz Ahmed 56, Umar Akmal 54, McKay 6-75) by 189 runs
Scorecard

Clint McKay record his first six-wicket haul in first-class cricket to keep Australia A on top after the third day against Pakistan A in Townsville. McKay, the Victorian fast bowler, grabbed a career-best 6 for 75 to ensured a handy first-innings lead for the home team.

At stumps, Australia A had reached 4 for 128 in their second innings with Cameron White on 21 and Tim Paine on 3. Wahab Riaz picked up two wickets to add to his five from the first innings but the visitors faced an uphill battle with one day to play.

McKay started the damage early by removing Azhar Ali for 78, having added only five to his overnight score. Fahad Iqbal (42) and Sarfraz Ahmed (56) steadied the Pakistan innings with a 75-run partnership before they fell in consecutive overs.

Although the Australians finished in a strong position they received some bad news with the fast bowler Burt Cockley ruled out of the second and final four-day match due to a gluteus medius tear. He will be replaced in the squad by the Tasmania allrounder Luke Butterworth.

Aussie cricinfo writers seem quite pleased that their A/B team seem to be doing relatively well against the might of Pakistan C/D team ha ha ha

Wondering why the writer is saying Aus-A is on top. The game is pretty well balanced, and will probably end up as a draw. I am very much satisfied with our A team. Have played much better than I expected. Hope they go on to win the 2nd Test to win the series. Would be a great achievement to win in Australia.

I hope we can bowl them out quickly today and then go for the chase! I think 250 max!

Yes you are totally right this is the best Australian team available against a 9th string Pakistan side. I hear Warne was going to come out of retirement for these matches.

RA what time does the match begin? Hasn't it already began or Cricket Australia is not updating the website yet?

Even the fans admit it.

If Pakistan draw it will be a great achievement, better than the world cup win. :batman:

Not sure think it should start in about 5 minutes. The Cricket Australia site is not super reliable about starting on time.

McKay is yet another Victorian seamer - we have a factory down here. Tall and accurate - not express - and has done pretty well in his 2 seasons to date. I haven't seen him bowl (except in T20 where he got smashed) so don't know much more.

Because Aus A scored more runs in the first innings and Pakistan A are batting last?

Over 54.4: Riaz to White, no run, APPEAL, attempts to flick the ball through the leg side but has missed sending the fielders up in appeal but umpire calls not out

No LBW in the whole match given! I guess you cant get out LBW! I don't know how close that is but interesting no lbw's the whole match so far!

Hafeez did got one in 2nd inning n also aussies got Umar akmal LBW.... so far!

Good to see our bowlers fighting it hard , Wahab has done enough to catch our selector's eye but i hope talha also shines enough to be in the spotlight.....so far he's been average

Talha has bowled well - he's been a victim of our poor fielding standards

oopssss.........my bad , i forgot how many catches our fielders dropped of talha..........really unlucky guy.

ohhh BS..............hope that they dont have that traditional pakistani batting collapse gene in them.

Mohammad Hafeez gone...Pakistan A 4/77!

Over 20.5: Henriques to Hafeez, no run, OUT, attempts to cut the ball through point and has edged the ball behind him and a diving Tim Paine has caught the ball in one hand

Right about now...not looking to good for Pakistan A..they need to save this match..Farhad Iqbal the new man in..hope he and Umar Akmal can play until the end!

4 of 39 deliveries for fahad iqbal and sarfraz bettered that in his first 2 balls LOL

Looks like Pak A tried to make a game of it by batting at almost 4 an over compared with Aussies batting at just 3 an over

Over 40.1: Holland to Umar Akmal, SIX, walks down the wicket and smashes the ball straight back over the bowler's head and clears the boundary for six runs

Pak going for it?? Some positives for Pak are:

Akmal
Sarfraz
Azhar
Wahab
Talha (unlucky with dropped catches)

Ya, even if we can't save the match from here, this is all still a great experience for the guys and we shouldn't be too hurt. This is the first time a lot of them are playing in those conditions
