Pakistan bowled out for 297 at Stumps on Day 1 of 2nd Test against New Zealand

If the conditions reman like this, 250-300 will be a competitive total. Still we will need to catch well.

Good running. Pak Need to Push and convert them Possible 3s into actual 3s. Last match they wer just settling for 2. These runs add up in the end aswell as Put pressure on opposition
 
Hope Azhar gets a hundred man. He deserves to have a hundred in NZ by his name for all his services as a top order bat for Pakistan.
 
Nice to see Azhar turning back the clock. He's looked good and looks like he's managed to avoid getting dropped for another series.

Still handy in these conditions with the new ball and has a good record in the first innings. With Faheem in as the fifth bowler he isn't much of a risk.
 
Last chance for Haris IMO. Needs to be given the boot permanently if he doesn’t pull off here.

Why can’t Harris just come in to bat at 7-8? Why are we just putting extra pressure on our batsmen by sending him up?

Shan and Haris likely just got dropped for the next series. Shan’s failures have been well documented but I think Haris’ style of dismissals (and runs when scored in ENG) is equally disconcerting.

Maybe one or both will put up mammoth scores in the second innings but looking very unlikely for both.

Genuine test for Alam.

I think it’s fine. It’s a good decision to bring Zafar in as he gives more control than Yasir and can hopefully bat a bit more too. The batsman would have been either Imran Butt or Sarfaraz Ahmed, who both don’t inspire confidence on a green mamba - so might as well go with the spinner who can bat.

Pakistan has been missing some penetration in their bowling line up. Except for Shaheen no one else has been getting something off the wicket. Naseem is a fine talent but still has a lot to learn. Sohail is usually very good in the first innings and with Faheem in as the fifth bowler not much of a risk either.
 
Well, Haris is certainly to be dropped for the SA series. Just a lot of poor shots from him and getting out far too cheaply. He should be dominating with his talent level.
 
Jamieson again with two top order wickets. Cricket has been a fairytale for him till now
 
Massive partnership this for Pakistan. Could be so crucial

Depends on M Wasim's vision. Not sure how he feels about Haris Sohail. Most ex cricketers are a big fan of Haris Sohail.

For Shan it is just a matter of time.
 
Kiwis made the per for first season after inserting opponents - 3 wickets is minimum.

Azhar still is the best Test batsman after Babar, know how to survive.
 
Don’t hv any hope in Fawad here to be honest .. wd be amazing if he gets a score of any substance here ..
 
Haris Sohail has played NO cricket in 2 months leading up the the 1st Test, didn't even play in the practice game. Yet somehow he is a starter in both Test matches
