Pakistan collapse to 190 all out at stumps on Day 2, set South Africa target of 149 to win

Haris’s test career is toast

If he lacks fitness then possibly but along with Babar he is technically one of the two best players of pace. His 40-60 run innings could be crucial in low to mid scoring affairs.

I expect South Africa to get in the batsmen’s face after tea.

Excellent batting from Pak. Looks like they are moving ahead in this game. A decent lead and Yasir will be crucial in the 4th innings.

Imam is playing great and Masood has improved as well although Zaman has been out of sorts in Tests. One of Azhar/Asad need to capitalize on this and get a big score.

Shan is a perfect example for guys who cry always about their non-selection like UA,Khurram etc

I have always maintained (without any particular insight) that he will have a stop start career due to his knee issues. Sooner or later Pakistan will move on from him.

If i have a choice i will drop Shafiq and put Fakhar at # 6.

Have seen enough of Asad and he has disappointed 90% of the time.

I'm still mulling it over but that may well be the way to go.

Also lol at people suggesting Haris should be dropped. If he is fit he will play the second test insha'Allah.

Good to see our batting pair discussing strategies in the middle. This is key to a partnership, rarely seen our other batsmen doing this

Still can't get over how quick the outfield is.

Haris is the highest scorer for Pakistan this year and only batsman to score 2 centuries.

I hope he is fit.

Realistically then they should play the same team or have Fakhar bat at 5/6 once Shafiq is dropped.

This would be a good idea while Fakhar is still getting to grips with test cricket. If one of Shan or Sami can show good intent then this would be ideal way to go and stick to Fakhar as opener in Asia.

The Fakhar situation can be resolved by dropping him down to 6. He can play counterattacking innings from there against the old ball.

Let's see what Shan does here but Shafiq is the one who should be dropped for Haris.

Not a lot of chat from the commentary team. Two solid overs from Rabada

Shot Imam. THAT is how you release pressure.

bowling 145 kph consistently, and what a lovely shot Imam

Yeah he isn't the youngest either unfortunately.

Imam is a talent, we just need to groom him properly. He scores runs when they are needed the most more often then not.

This is great Test cricket - Rabada with some testing deliveries, crowd getting into it, Imam replies with a beautiful cover drive.

They should ask Graeme Smith to do an in-depth analysis on th contrasting styles of Pakistan’s lefties

This is one heck of an innings by Imam. Very impressed. I'm pleasantly surprised by how good he looks against the short ball too.

How on Earth can you hold the cathes With so much tape?

An excellent session for us. Now just need to work and build up on this and take it forward to something really substantial.

Never underestimate our propensity to batting collapses. Still effectively 58-1.

Need to continue showing this application and discipline.

I'm really disappointed by Haris. He's in awful shape. Needs to greatly improved on his fitness. Because he is the best all-around batsman in this team.

Calm your horses lads, still a long way to go.

Imaam is technically batting for the 3rd time here, his lack of consistency and the fact he gets out the same 2 ways every time makes me wonder if he'll ever be successful once teams work him out. (Lbw after he plays across his pad and his lovely edge to second slips)

Shaan has always had a good technique. He can't play swing. The fact he's doing well is because the ball isn't swinging. Don't open with him if you want him to score anything.

Yep, hopefully Mickey is drilling into their heads: "do not get complacent".

38 overs left. so another 100 in final session with maximum 3 more wickets.
that will take pakistan to 200/4 end of day with a lead of 150+

Sort of fight that was missing in NZ series. Another good session and SA will be under immense pressure.
Imam has the TEMPRAMENT

Not sure what’s the point of this? We are in a good position in this game because of these guys and we should build on it.

I would rather nobody says anything to them. They know what to do. The good coaches usually know to stay away when their players are in the zone

Just checked the scorecard. It says this is Imam's second innings so, no, "technically" he isn't batting for a third time.

His technique is abysmal in these conditions

You need to realise that Imam’s learning the game at international level when really he needs a couple of seasons in domestic to iron out his weakness. It’ll be frustrating to watch because it’ll take him time to be consistent but what he has shown in his short career is that he has mental toughness to have some success.

Just need to capitalize on the start now. Imam and Shaan need to show discipline after Tea. Thanks

58/1 in reality at the moment, we need another strong last session with the bat to feel like we can really compete and threaten in this game. Someone in line up needs to score a big hundred here.

Dont know why but it feels like a collapse or a silly run out is on the cards. I have rarely seen Pakistan play calmly against a quality attack for too long

Another 100 runs in the last session without losing a wicket and we will be in a great position.

I agree about Imam.I was talking about Fakhar

Whatever the match situation, expect to see a Pakistani collapse. It's just in their DNA. So imperative for these two to add at least another 60 or 70 runs to their partnership.

He's batting for the 3rd time pal... If you truly set high expectations as a batsman you'd be disappointed in being dropped and playing a false shot.
