What's new

Pakistan collapse to 6-run defeat in 4th ODI against Australia despite Abid Ali, M Rizwan hundreds

Only if someone decides to play a sheet anchors role and knuckles down for a 100, even if it takes 125 balls.

Pakistan scored 280 plus in the first two odis just because they had 1 centurion. They didn't play with the highest SR but 1 century gets you to that 270-280 mark. But Pakistani batsmen doesn't have common sense to break down a total. Inzi was the last great player who exactly knew how to chase. Imam has shown some glimpses in chasing but the rest are mental duds.

Highly improbable that they will chase this.

Shaan goes in the first over...nothing new there shows we DO NOT Have any talent what so ever yet we moan when we try old TFTS

What's the point of this speed chart when pacers have taken 2 wicket in 29 overs after putting opponents into bat - and one wicket of the 2 is on last ball:(

Pace without skill can be a burden - today, Aussies don't have Cummins, so they'll be considerably slower than PAK chart - let's see where they put the new ball. Last time, they got 3 catches behind batsmen AT DESERT, in first 8 overs, 2 being in slips - that's call new ball bowling; 134KM speed is more than enough for that.

Just tuned in.

How did Husnain bowl and how was Imad’s captaincy?

Imad was okay better than Malik and behind Sarfraz.

Hasnain - great potential, needs time, else will become another Sami!

ZABARDAST!

weren't folks on PP shouting that Shan Masood should be made captain after that classy 40 in SAF

PAK got 280 in first 2 games, because that was 330 tracks, not because the painstaking century that Haris or Rizwan scored. Today also, if PAK has to chase, team must not allow the asking to raise above 7 any time, better if they can keep it below 6. In modern games with Power Paly, the better teams often actually reduces asking against new ball and then allow it to grow slightly till 40 overs before final charge, but never allows the asking to go beyond comfort, be it at the cost of couple of extra wickets. With a good partnership, you can make up loss of extra wickets, but what is impossible is maintaining an asking of 150% (from initial asking) for 20+ overs, no matter how many wickets at hand - first batsman down, next man is instantly in at 7+ asking rate, which will inevitably lead to couple more quick wickets and the chase is over; end result might be a respectable defeat but that tactics hardly can win a game.

Abid ali kinda reminds me of Azhar ali. Fakhar and azhar were good in the ct17.

Shan i must admit had high hopes..but big let down i hope no confidence down in tests

Seems like Abid has already given us a better start than Imam ever did.

shot abid wow...i thought he was a tailender but not bad at all pleasantly surprised dont forget he can keep too

Abid Ali with that back lift looks a better stroke maker than Shan. He scored a double ton in list A as well

Abid Ali beautiful cover drive.... been waiting for such drives... for a long time:dw

beautiful backfoot punch NICEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

See Mickey Domestic cricket says Hi

Abid batting at 100 SR..... tears in my eyes :sree

We have all been crying to give Abid, Saad, Saud a chance. The reluctancy of the selectors to try them in earlier series means they have less experience and that will be the excuse for sticking with Malik, Imam...

Finally seeing a natural time and stroke make at the top after Fakhar (When in touch)

That's what focusing on List A and FC cricketers can get you.

He's already better than Shan "dad's dream" Masood, and Imam.

When it comes to strokeplay and ability to score at a decent pace, play pace.

This is gonna be big slap on Mickey and specially inzi if Abid manages a good score
He looks classy

Mickey doesn't like Abid, I quote you Mickey said to Abid duing a PAK A match "I don't like chubby players"

I hope Abid gets a ton, in that case he will be undroppable. Ya Allah please.

Abid instantly looks a better off side player than most recent PAK batsmen and he is a top hand batsman - why this guy needed to be officially 31 to be debuted in wrong format? Who didn't select him for the SAF Test leg after a great domestic FC season and having 17 FC hundreds? Who played for his position and what he did - some one need to look for answers.

Where has Abid Ali been? In 25 balls he has already shown himself to be more competent than any Pakistani opener since Saeed Anwar.

K Richardson to Abid Ali, FOUR, easy pickings for Abid Ali! This was a tad short around middle and leg, Abid Ali rises high in his crease and glances it past the fielder at short fine leg for another boundary. Doesn't seem like his debut.

Tears in my eyes

This boy got loads of time to play his shots... pleasing to the eyes.. keep going Boy!!!

Chill out yeah :))

But he definitely looks like a proper ODI opener.

After a very long time I am watching some delightful shots from a pakistani opener (?). So elegant, shades of Inzi and (rohit sharma).

Sheer hatred for Imam

I don't see the same for Shan and Fakhar. They haven't done any special

You won't EVER get those answers.

Inzi, Mickey, Sarfraz - they all hate introducing new potential batsmen.

And, Shan has his dad behind him - top PCB official. It's his dad's dream to see him play.

Imam has Inzi behind him.

Too early for Abid but if he keeps it up, Ideally would love to see the below

1. Abid Ali WK
2. Fakhar Zaman
3. Babar Azam VC
4. Haris Sohail
5. M Hafeez C
6. Asif Ali
7. Imad / Faheem
8. Shadab
9. Hassan Ali
10. Wahab
11. Shaheen Afridi

Shan Masood is the worst opener in the last 20-30 years probably.

Should be the first name to be dropped forever.

If those folks had also used their connections to get to the top then there will be hatred for them as well. There is some displeasure with Shan as well since he also used dad's connection.

I can.t believe we have been forced to watch those edges here and there from other pakistani openers

Now i have a question. Does mickey watches the players practice in the nets or just sleep n get the paycheque. How can he not see abid playing shots like this

He reminds me of a full flowing Asad Shafiq when in full form
Allah save him from nazar and let him score hugscwinnings for Pak to beat Australia today ameen
Inshallah
