Pakistan comprehensively defeat South Africa by eight wickets to set up series decider at Cape Town

If Aus match wasnt rained off from a winning position how would BD would have reached Semis?

They played extremely well vs NZ though.

NO, I explained it many times - once more. There was two wash outs - AUS lost one point against BD, gained one from NZ. Real loser was NZ, who had the chance to make it in a direct KO against BD. Even then, both could have been out had Aussies won against Poms - they failed. The tournament fixture was such that it looks like BD went through by last game win - it's not like that. Go back to 1992, PAK ended at 9 points and had WIN won last game against AUS, they would have been in SF - that doesn't mean rain or AUS took PAK to SF.

It was remarkable (as I wrote that time), till last 4 games, tournament was open for 7 teams (Poms had made it already) - BD, PAK & IND won their last group game, AUS, SRL, SAF & NZ failed.

Without Heysman in the comm box. The comm team actually is good. Loving the commentary so far.

they want imam to bat at a strike rate of 200 consistently.

It is absolutely ridiculous.

In the history of the game, only 4 of the top 10 highest scorers in ODIs have strikes at 80 or more, only two above 90 and only one of them has averaged anywhere above 50.

Imam is averaging over 60 with a strike rate of over 80, isnt far behind both modern or all time metrics (of the top 10 highest scorers this decade five of them have a strike rate of 80 odd), at only 23 years of age...they are acting like a player can just come in, average 60 and strike at 150.

The toxicity of online fans on this forum is horrible.

Imam thanking the haters in the press and his batting partners :)

exactly lol.

it allows the others to play freely by knowing imam can hold one end.

but these fans can't understand the basics of the game.

thankfully we have some fans like yourself.

Then you should come to Kautokeino and experience -40C AS well

I had been at Moscow once, sometimes around exactly this week (last of January) and Russian winter is different - it freezes your bone!!!!

Count me in the Imam club. We need an opener like him

Fair enough. Thanks for explanation.

Imam is now officially 2nd most important player in Pak ODI lineup after Babar and when Haris isnt there.

i think we should be done with haris.

he is way too injury prone and not reliable.

can't build a side with a player like that

wish imam didn't throw away the start in the 1st odi, should have gotten another 100

man we can't win so easily, this is getting boring,,, where is signature Pakistani heart in mouth moment??? This feel so un Pakistani victory.

I hope, after today's game, this Arthur guy will leave his love affair with "all-rounder" and motivate team/Captain to chase. PAK lost one WC final from the shear fear of chasing and decided to test their batting skills on a green, wet Lord's track under gloomy June London sky against McGrath, Fleming & Rifel, in a delayed start Final .... then back it up with a similar call 4 years later at Centurion.

Fakhar is the most dangerous player in the team but Babar and Imam are the dependable ones who will see through to the middle-end overs.

Our top 4 is shaping up very nicely. It’s the middle order that is the problem.

Pakistan haven't got a good record in ODI series deciders, though we were heading for a win vs NZ in the 3rd ODI before the rain.

This is one area Mickey needs to sort out.

the less said about that toss decision the better

Previous generations surely?

Fakhar firing almost guarantees a win for Pakistan.

Agreed. He is a match winner but can sometimes give his wicket away but for Babar and Imam you have to take it.

Good thing is our too 3 are becoming the best batsmen of our batting lineup which is how it should be in the modern era.

Cruising to a win here, thanks to the bowlers earlier. Lets hope we dont choke in decider.

I want to see Saud Shakeel in at #4 after the World Cup.
