What's new

Pakistan end Day 1 of the 1st Test on 33/4 after bowling out South Africa for 220

Good bowling but honestly this is a disastrous batting effort. These SA bats dont gave the skill to bat on slow, low wickets.
They are also not very good on bouncy tracks. If things remain like this, they will get challenged even at home against the likes of Ind, eng and Nz.

I have always said . . talent you can't control, but brains and tactics you can! Pakistan would be a much better team if we just had people who think! who know little decisions can cost a game! like how to play a situation, where fielders are placed, where to bowl to what batter, etc. etc. . Having Yasir shah at first slip is stupid beyond imagination! how many teams do you see changing their slip fielders around?! Only Pak! This was Rabada, but it could have been a better player . .

Rabada has a nice bat swing. He has ability with the bat to do better than he has done.

Hasan bowling some half track garbage his lengths have been all over the shop.

Pakistan fast bowling stocks are in a very depressing state of affairs, ok the pitch is flat for the fast bowlers but still the lack of application and skill level is below average

Good alert captaincy by Babar to bring on Shaheen

Auto pilot captain would have persisted with Shah jee

20 runs too much! They needed to be clinical when they had them against the ropes at 195-8!

As Pak has to bat last, need to score atleast 300+ in their first innings

Tailenders of SA showed it was pretty playable wicket but, batsmen gave away the starts

Isn't the same thing when we tour to those countries? Why should anything different apply to them?

Pakistan batted reasonably well in England and New Zealand and honestly those are difficult batting conditions. It was your bowling that didnt turn up . SA are poor in all kinds of wickets these days.

Hassan Ali is slipping here. He is going to his old gimmicks.

Never rated him at test level doesn't have the discipline nous or hit the correct line lengths ,

he was always more suited to the white ball game /t20 chadees

we gotta try and bat once but I wont be surprised if we screw this up via our batting..

They were already beaten by England last year. Hopefully India can beat them later this year as well.

Was the best pacer in QAE which isnt possible without discipline. Yes he wasnt great in this innings and a bit unlucky too but, again he is coming back to international cricket after around 1.5 or so.

He will be very expensive in those formats if he bowls the way he did in the morning. I dont see him surviving for more than three months.

Last session will be tough, Pakistan gotta get through and batsmen start a fresh tomorrow.

Hasan Ali is the only reason SA even managed 220. If Pakistan had a better seamer to bowl with the new ball, they would have struggled to make 180.

More than his bowling I disklike his silly gimmicks and attention grabbing overacting.

Now Pakistan need to bat for long long time try to score as much as they can. try to get around 400/450.

Tire these South African players.

Batting in 4th innings will be difficult.

Imran Butt can become a Pakistani drama serial actor

I am convinced!

Chill out you both. He had at least two dropped catches that i witnessed on his bowling.

He was dropped rightfully was average in world Cup and regularly being carted around in all formats in various series prior to that still living of his performances 2/3 yrs ago in particular champions trophy where he was brilliant and proper strike bowler.

Instead of pointless T20 series, we should have played 3 Test matches series.

We need more Test Cricket to Bring our Standards up, SA series was an excellent chance to do that, we don’t get to play against quality sides that much.

CT17 was an ultimate fluke.

read teh article about him on cricinfo and his body broke down. Its a miracle he's actually back bowling..They over bowled him and his workload was insane..he will take time to get some test form back and some white ball form back..I still think he is an asset to have but we need another fast bowler to partner shaheen.

Just underlines the folly of dropping Abbas in a home series. Unless you have a proper fast bowler like Wasim or Waqar, you just need someone who can use the new ball and generally keep it tight till the spinners come on. And Abbas is perfect for that. Hasan never had the discipline to play that role.

Missed a straight ball there. Abid has a flaw here. This is no the first time I have seen him get out like this. He was thinking about the short ball.
