What's new

Pakistan end Day 2 of the 1st Test at 21/0, still trail England (354) by 29 runs

The plan was for something to happen out of nothing

The plan was successful!!

30 runs lead is not a problem for Pakistan as England is batting last here .

Abrar is awful as everybody else but as he got 10 wickets last game shud last few series..our batters why dnt they feel ashamed looking at so called England tail bat

Exactly my point...so you cant blame coaches for this there is no batting talent at all..need to have cocky batting mentality

England's batting has been pretty average apart from the brilliance of Harry Brook. He has been the difference between two teams and England winning the series

where' s Hassan Ali - is he injured? surely he's better bowler than Wasim and Ashraf and defo a better batsman. why didnt pak go for an out and out quick like Mo hasnain , he'd be useful to mop up the tail....
and i thot we in india are pathetically useless to keep selecting legends like Sir bhuvi sobers after getting series after series of mediocrity....

What about all the contributions of other batters...and to think englands best batter root hasnt performed. Englands lead is more than enough to get couple of wickets

Just like Pakistani batsmen but Brook has been the impact player

Is fahim injured? Why are we only using 3 bowlers? Unforgivable on these flat tracks

We seem to be confused and shocked with their lower order approach. Even our top order never bats so fluently and fearlessly even against the lowest ranked teams. Pakistan is really no match to a team like England. Maybe they need to tour India and Australia for us to really judge them.

I would open the bowling with Leach to Shafique and Root to Shan

This is where I miss Sarfaraz and even Kamran to some extent

Those guys would be screaming in the stump mic to keep the side awake

Robinson has to be the coolest cricketer in the world

He’s fast becoming the Scott Hall of cricket

Very good lead

England will win this match. Congrats for the whitewash

Last match it was Wood's runs that made the difference. This match it's Robinson's runs. Since Shoaib Akhtar retired, I think Pakistan must've had the worst bowling average to tailenders. They just can't get the tail out.

Lead is 50 runs. Can England take 1or 2 wicket before Pakistan level that lead.

Abrar's novelty sort of wore off. Only the roughs in the pitch and ball keeping low helped him. Still a good bowler though.

Honestly ,nothing for the bowlers out there. If there is spin it is slow and not an issue for good batsmen. He is kind of mystery spinner though so i dont expect him to last long in test arena but can be a good addition in limited over sides.

I imagined 50 would have been a winning lead. I think Pak will score 250, England will chase down 200 with probs 7 down.

The very average Shafique who somehow impresses people with his talent.

His performances have been ok but his talent is nothing to rave about.

You are so right need to bring imran butt back at once...or their are other bradman openers we have

And on the flipside, our #9, #10 and #11 can barely hold a bat. Still remember their total contributions in that infamous botched Abu Dhabi chase vs NZL were 0, 0 and 0 !

Haven't seen such average pace bowling lineup by Pakistan. Didn't expect from Pakistan of all teams.

50 run lead given away here is poor one, pakistan need to be looking at 350+ in this inns now which i cant see happening.

Atherton & Hussain milking that series victory over Pak in 2000.. god knows what they’d have done if they won a ashes series !!

Dearth of talent probably every youngster wants to play PSL, PCB should reward Test players

?

A Shafique is an average talent who some people think is special. Nothing more nothing less.

??????

Nobody thinks he is special..he has done extremely well to start with compared to rest simple as that and now we all have expectations which is a fact.

Atherton: England have the momentum with them

Michael Atherton speaking on Sky Sports Cricket...

"We are down to a one innings game now. Pakistan should have the advantage of England batting last. There is a lot of time left in this game. Pakistan are just as well-placed as England, but England have the momentum with them."

"I still think England in their second innings could chance 250 but it depends on how long Pakistan bat for," Hussain added.

Harry Brook's magnificent century helped England to a valuable lead over Pakistan on the second day of the third Test in Karachi.

Brook's 111, his third hundred of the series, pushed the tourists to 354, a first-innings advantage of 50 runs.

England had been 58-3, 98-4 and then 145-5 when Brook was involved in the run out of captain Ben Stokes for 26.

But Brook shared a stand of 117 with Ben Foakes, who marked his recall with 64 after overturning being given out on nine.

Although Brook was lbw to Mohammad Wasim, Foakes added 51 with Mark Wood, while Ollie Robinson and Jack Leach eked out 30 for the last wicket.

Pakistan were given nine overs to survive in the fading light, reaching 21-0 to trail by 29.

England have already won the series 2-0 and are looking to become the first team to leave Pakistan with a 3-0 clean sweep.

This series, England's first in Pakistan for 17 years, has already produced memorable finishes in the first two Tests and a compelling Sunday in Karachi has raised the prospect of a fitting finale.

The contest swung back and forth on a pitch offering plenty for the spinners and almost nothing for pace bowlers.

England, always so eager to score quickly, had to be pragmatic because of the conditions, match situation and quality of the bowling. Even then, they still moved along at more than four runs an over.

At various stages both teams had the opportunity for a sizable lead and the fact England managed to claim an advantage could be significant in their eventual run-chase on the wearing surface.

England bowled only spin late on the day, with Leach having an lbw shout against Abdullah Shafique turned down.

Pakistan have all 10 wickets in hand in their bid to build a match-winning lead on Monday. It will not be a draw - just the way England like it.

Let me guess, poor defensive clueless captaincy by Babar allowed England to recover from 98/4 to 354 all out.

Those crying about the lack of quality bowlers in the team need to be reminded that Babar as captain chose these bowlers and under Ramiz he selects the squad of 15 and final playing 11.

Really good contest all day.

Pakistan raised their levels compared with the first two games, and England responded.

Proper Test cricket.

Looking forward to tomorrow.

Pakistan batsmen need to stand up tomorrow and score big, none of this nice 30s and 40s rubbish.

In particular Azhar (Last test inns) and Rizwan owe some big scores to pakistan, but im not holding my breathe.

England will fancy chasing 300 here, they have done it all summer so nothing will faze them.

Pakistan need 350 which i doubt they will get.

If Pakistan gets to 250 or above then they are definitely in this game, it would leave England with 200 or more to chase and that would be pretty tough against the spinners I reckon.

200 all out or less for Pakistan and I think that England will chase the runs down.

Pakistan seamers are useless and trying to defend 200 with just 2 spinners will be tough, add to that Babars Dumb captaincy it woudnt be enough runs on board, especially with how aggressive england and also bat down to 10.
