What's new

Pakistan end Day 2 of the 1st Test on 308/8 with a lead of 88

Asad isnt even in top5 when it comes to domestic... Kamran Ghulam, Saud, Salman Agha, Hussain Talat and a few more were better than Asad

Best Test batsmen available in the country right now on current ability:

1. Azhar Ali
2. Fawad Alam
3. Babar Azam
4. Mohammad Rizwan
5. Saud Shakeel
6. Kamran Ghulam
7. Usman Salahuddin
8. Asad Shafiq
9. Abid Ali
10. Imran Butt
11. Sarfaraz Ahmed
12. Rohail Nazir
13. Hussain Talat
14. Abdullah Shafique
15. Omair bin Yousuf
16. Salman Ali Agha
17. Sharjeel Khan
18. Haider Ali
19. Ali Zaryab

That’s off the top of my head. Might have missed someone.

Edit: Faheem Ashraf in after Abid Ali

No need to discuss TV commentators on this thread

Faheem has to be careful as ngidi looking dangerous here.

Talat Hussain perhaps. Babar in my opinion is the best bat in terms of ability but perhaps not in terms of ugly innings needed on difficult pitches.

Shan Masood just above Abdullah Shafique.

assume in how many matches Asad Shafiq has played and how many consistent chances he had and how many times he had the luxury to play with 250/3 -350/3 , the guy shld end up at beyond the 50 mark

Talat Hussain perhaps. Babar in my opinion is the best bat in terms of ability but perhaps not in terms of ugly innings needed on difficult pitches.

I’m talking about current ability. Babar does not have the concentration yet, too often gets out between 45-55 or 95-105 or 145-150.

Fawad+Rizwan is clearly a key partnership that needs to happen a lot earlier in the innings for Pakistan's sake. Not when we are 4/5 down for 100 odd every time.

It's bcoz of rizwan. Cameo......the deficit is less now.....need similar cameos from Hasan and Faheem with Fawad at one end.....50 60 ......lead is decent one

Just 3 overs remaining to new ball and 28 runs required to level the SA 1st innings score

That's sheer hyperbole. He hasn't even scored a single test century yet. He has a long way to go before he can be proved as world-class.

He is a wicket keeper batsman. Even if he gets no century it does not matter as long as he makes gritty contributions.

Fawad return has been a fairytail with thrills iand drama n the England series. Ducks, centuries, body blows, floored, 6s.

Fawad playing a brilliant innings. He shouldnt have languished so long in domestic cricket

Where would you bat Rizwan then?

Definitely at 4 or 5

Fawad and Rizwan need to be 4 and 5 regardless of nightwatchmen or Selfish Azhar and Babar wanting to slot in in places that suit them.

Babar is hit and miss at 4 and he will put us under heaps of pressure when he isn’t having one of his days where he wants to fight in a tough situation.

For that you would have to play Babar at 3. I don’t mind this actually.

Undoubtedly, one of the biggest injustices in Pakistan cricket as far as longer format cricket is concerned.

A 'world-class' wicketkeeper batsman in modern cricket should be able to contribute more than gritty knocks.

Rizwan is a good cricketer, but he certainly needs to improve his batting to get to the next level.

there is nothing to worry about the new ball. This pitch has settled now we have made a big blunder by not capitalising getting them out for 220 90% of which were gifts which obviously they wont repeat again.

Currently so does Azhar or any Pakistani batsman.

Azhar has the concentration for 200s and 300s, and on a tough track yesterday he came in together with Babar - out of the two, Azhar ended up with a 50 and Babar single digits.

Azhar right now is the best Test bat in the country. Closely followed by Fawad. Only after that do you have Babar.

Man a career wasted because he didn't have a conventional batting stance. Chanderpaul was lucky he wasnt born in Pak

thanks to ex cricketers like Amir "smoker" sohail and others..fixated on the way he looks rather than his runs..hell when they dropped him his stance was different anyway!!

Rizwan shld come at no4 ideally but no5 seems to be only viable place.

King Fawad is more suited to spin hence shld bat at 6

Love you Ahsan Raza. You probably just saved us from the demise of cricket in the country with that decision. No one will remember it, but I will.

That was absolutely plumb.

How on earth do you lose 3 reviews in this day & age when you keep umpires calls?

Length ball angling in off the seam to beat the bat and hit Faheem on the pads. An appeal for lbw denied, and South Africa don't have any reviews left. Had pitched outside leg, replays show

looks like u know more than hawk eyes lol

Are you sure? One pitched outside leg and other one was going over the top probably

Faheem does and should not feature in the top 30 batsmen in Pakistan.

Rohail scored a 100 against NZ A, he might be fit in above Abid in this list

Hussain talat also in good form scored 250 recently in QEA should be above Abid Ali I think.

Disagree with the gap between Rizwan and Fawad by putting another batsman in there. Back in the days, nobody would dream to put a gap between Yousuf and Younis Khan at 3/4 because of the natural chemistry these two had in their partnerships, almost telepathic in their running between the wicket and absorbing of pressure.

Saud may or may not work at the moment, I just dont think we can afford 50-50 guys right now in our core middle order, it is the reason why we are under pressure more often than not.

These two need to go after spinners using the new ball, smash the shine off it.

concussion sub?? Saud Shakeel to run into this test match like Seth Rollins at wrestelmania main event between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, cashing in the money in the bank???

Good bumper from rabada.

Pak ahead in the game now. South Africa need these two out quickly

How often Ramiz says the wrong thing when the opposite is obvious. Like taken when it's clearly was not. Previous over he called good ball then byes on ball missing leg and edged.
