Pakistan end Day 2 of the 1st Test on 308/8 with a lead of 88

These Saffer SLA's are too slow through the air. And this pitch is very slow. They can be played off the pitch.They need someone like Jadeja who can dart it at 90 + kph at the stumps.

I agree. Or Elgar. Perhaps they have an understanding. I saw Faf giving a speech before the match. Elgar was chatting to Linde as well. It seems the senior players share a lot of the responsibilities with him. Not sure really. Just my observations.

I’d say they are reserving the energy for the lunch and evening session. Going in hard first thing would be stupid and exhausting.

Yep, just goes to show they don’t know about how well these guys at the crease know NSK, the whole domestic season was played here this year.

SA would need Rabada to bowl a very good spell to come back in the game , or would need to spinners to flight the ball more , get some kind of drift , otherwise this kind of bowling will not work

I followed the QeA tournament and trust me this pitch is nothing like what was on show in the QeA. The QeA pitches were roads for the first 2-3 days with cracks opening up in the last 2. Here, the ball's turning with variable bounce on day 1 which tells me this is a pretty poor pitch.

so there's gonna abandon the match... can pakistan refuse to come on to the field for the 4th innings?
 
Essentially need 100s from both these batsmen in the middle atleast.
 
Before the start of the series, I predicted that Fawad would be valuable. He has spent his life while playing in National Stadium Karachi.

Hopefully he proves me right today with a century.

This is very entertaining pitch.... Better than flat tracks..

What? Pakistan have already lost half their batsmen, a couple of quick wickets and SA would be right back in it.
 
Excellent batting. Need to grind these Saffers into the ground. Azhar, Fawad and Rizwan need really good scores and we should target to bat the entire day.
 
I just want to see Rabada frustrated. He always feels like a legend already on doctored pitches of South Africa. Just need to show him the reality when he tours outside.

InshAllah may Allah make him score a massive century today, he’s looked solid but I don’t like his sweep shots against Mahraj.
 
Only couple of brain drains, which is typical of all Pakistani batsmen, should prevent Pakitan taking a minimum of 50 runs lead.
 
This is an excellent result oriented pitch. The likes of [MENTION=138318]Belawal2014[/MENTION] would be moaning about a borefest had this pitch been a road. Also, fans shouldnt worry about revenues, we dont watch the game to bean count, we watch it for the game itself. Dont be like some indian posters.
 
This innings of Fawad again shows how Pakistan was deprived from a service over the years. It's only the 4th test after come back and he is the saviour for the second time for Pakistan. It shows when you ignore an incredibly performing batsman of domestic cricket ,actually you become deprived. Pakistan wrongly invested on Asad shafiq.
 
Why are people crying about the pitch, wud u rather play on a road and see a boring draw?

funny thing is they continue to ignore KING domestic batsman... Salman Butt, Khurram Manzoor to name a few whom hit 100, 100, 100 all day long in domestic FC....
 
This haysman is awful commentator. Even ordinary balls from Saffers look special to him

I was thinking the same :))) every ball from a spinner is "beautiful". He's probably there for his radio voice. He does have one, unfortunately.
 
Azhar A should finish as 45 + batsman, shame he had a long lean patch. Typical Pakistani fashion 50 and out as I was typing.

That was loose by Azar. When he settles in he thinks he is Bradman he was doing well grinding out. Suddenly started to charge ..move his feet felt like was getting edgy needs to improve
 
I don't mind the pitch at all, most of these wickets have fallen as a consequence of rubbish shot selection from the batsmen. 220 is definitely not a par score on this surface.

Somebody should do a statistical analysis of how many times Ramiz has gotten a player out with his commentary

I think the criteria of selecting cricketers should only be the performance of domestic cricket. Now India is here one of the reason is they always picked up their top performers of domestic cricket. Almost all of batsman averages 50 in Indian domestic cricket. That's why these batsmen can replicate their performance also in international cricket. Pakistan only had one batsman in Fawad Alam who averaged 50 plus in domestic cricket. Still he didn't found any spot in national team where as people with average in mid thirties easily got chances after chances in national team.

thats right , azhar , asad , shan masood etc all average in 30s in domestic cricket.

whereas salahuddin and saud shakil averaging in high 40s keep waiting.
