What's new

Pakistan end Day 2 of the 1st Test on 308/8 with a lead of 88

Hasan Ali scored an incredible knock in the QEA Final so no mug with the bat.

Need a few clean strikes from him.

He needs to stick to his natural game for that to happen .. but it’s a tricky situation for him given only 30 mins or so left in the days play ..

True, Faheem will be the key. Hassan is also in decent batting form but this pitch is unlike something he has played on recently.

Tomorrow should be the best day for batting. I don't have much trust in Pakistan chasing anything over 200 in the fourth innings.

SAF got lucky there with Fawad's wicket.

Could have easily been an innings defeat if he stayed not out today.

Nortje with avg speed of 141 kph has been by far the fastest followed by Shaheen’s 139 kph

The way Faheem has played against some of the top fast bowlers around in last couple of months has been a gold watch

Has the wicket flattened out?

SAF has a capable batting lineup to score big in the next essay and spoil Pakistan's party....

Think Yasir Shah's the key tomorrow.

PitchViz Bounce rating by session (Day - Session):

1 - 1: 3.7
1 - 2: 3.7
1 - 3: 6.9
2 - 1: 6.4

(1 = consistent ---- 10 = variable)

The variable bounce that we saw yesterday evening is still there, but has been expertly negotiated by the Pakistan batsmen

In ODIs playing in last few overs is a pretty difficult task for someone who needs some balls to settle in. Faheem can hit the ball but, he isnt someone who can start hitting from the word go and that is something Pak management and fans expected as his average in teens in list A also indicates. His FC stats were always better and more assuring but, yes he can definitely improve his white ball skills further.

Faheem does not need balls to settle in. He always does it in PSL and T20Is, where he comes in and hits boundaries right away.

He has been unlucky in ODIs because of the 5 fielders on the boundary, But he just needs one big innings to fix that record.

He has immenseeee potential and that's why he's being persisted with. A fast bowling allrounder in Pakistan... when I have seen that before! :razzaq

Vital runs, lead up to 70. 7 overs to go in days play.

Hopefully he can do that as a pace bowling all rounder in the lineup would be pretty handy for white ball cricket especially considering the next WC is in India. Having a pace bowling all rounder allows to have a specialist spinner or two.

I dont really care much for "leads" when there are 3 days left and SAF still left to bat.

Unless its 120/150+ SAF are more than in the game.

Two members of the supposed “roti gang” at the crease. :smith

Regardless of the lead, heads should roll in our top order. Abid surely is a goner. 27/4 against this pathetic South African bowlers is unaccesptable.

Good innings from Faheem nevertheless. Unlucky way to get out

Well played Faheem. Anything else now is a Bonus.

Can we get another 25 runs?

South Africa haven't bowled fuller and straighter enough.

But that's still a fine knock from Faheem. Hasan and Yasir need to extend the lead now.

I think Hasan, Nauman and Yasir should be capable considering their FC stats but, than again its test cricket and conditions are not easy.

Wait, Nauman Ali sent out instead of Yasir. Looks a decent FC record with ten fifties.

This is a much more useful and important innings from Fawad than his 2nd innings 100 in a losing effort. By making a 100 in the 1st innings when the team was 27/4, he's ensured that Pakistan has stayed in the game and could be in a position to gain a handy lead.

He almost saved the match for us please don't disparage the innings.

We lost but it wasn't one of those useless Asad Shafiq innings when the pressure is off and the opposition is complacent because they know the final outcome.

We were within 5 overs of saving the match and Fawad played valiantly to get us till that point.

It won't be regarded as a great innings because he failed to see us over the line but it was a brilliant 4th innings rearguard

South Africa haven't bowled fuller and straighter enough.

True, they found it difficult to consistently keep it at the length required in sub continent especially on such a surface.

We are going to need as much of a lead as possible, don't fancy chasing 150+ at all with our openers.

At the start of the day Pak would have happily taken 220, so it has been an excellent effort today.

come on uncle try to score enough runs for you and Yasir to go for an innings defeat!

The lead is too much for South Africa.
They have to bat really well to be back in the game

Shaheen Shah Afridi the night watchman, whos bright idea was that btw?

Hassan is generally just a badtameez cricketer, but he is quite mediocre for the standards of Bret Lee and Shoaib Akhtar

uncle noman played the stroke of his life and it didnt reach the boundary unfortunately

I really like Hasan Ali’s character! He is just so vibrant.

155kmh of Nortje might be fatal for uncle.

God have mercy on him!

do we have spectators in stadium or there no spectators allowed due to covid ?
