If I was a Pakistan fan (and they are my 2nd team ever since '92 as a boy) I wouldn't be too upset with that loss. These are tune up games & not the big show & you are already dead competitive with one of the big favourites, with a few tweaks to make & still very early in your prep. Not a bad place to be.
You were perhaps one quality ODI spinner away from winning. Shadab if he is fit will do better than Yasir in all 3 departments- that gets you very, very close already.
The value of Faheem should be questioned... He's never scored a run that I've seen so with Amir in his place you concede less runs, have a more x factor bowler (he was "finished" last time you came to England for a tournament too...) and that gets you a improvement.
Your Captain didn't bottle it. He wasn't middling everything but his SR was winnable if he had some support from the lower order. Faheem is not the answer. Imad missed out but should be persisted with- if he fired, you win.
Key batsmen look in form.
Scored 350+ shows players & management have recognised these are the scores needed to win flat track ODI's right now (sure can with with less, but if a good start, 350 should always be the modern target).
A win with some positives.
