Pakistan fall to 12-run defeat against England in high-scoring 2nd ODI

Faheem's spot has to be in serious doubt. Having seen him a few times he doesn't make any contribution at all. Takes no wickets and scores no runs either. I see him being rightfully dropped from the final fifteen. Would rather a specialist batsman took the place of this no hoper.

Some people will find faults in Sarf even when he plays a gem of an innings.

Did he play a gem of an inning today? You are a sensible person; I really hope that you get over the positive bias that you have for Sarfraz. Quite evidently he ia not performing and does not make the starting 11 on merit.

i dont know why batting is being blamed.

afterall, pakistan DID score > 350 runs chasing. it was agood effort, just couldnt finish it off.

the blame goes to our death bowling and also yasir shah who not only did not finish his overs, but also gave two shot balls to jos buttler when he just walked in and let off the pressure.

Batting is being blamed because we were in a position where we should have won easily. We only needed 32 off the last 3 overs.

If I was a Pakistan fan (and they are my 2nd team ever since '92 as a boy) I wouldn't be too upset with that loss. These are tune up games & not the big show & you are already dead competitive with one of the big favourites, with a few tweaks to make & still very early in your prep. Not a bad place to be.

You were perhaps one quality ODI spinner away from winning. Shadab if he is fit will do better than Yasir in all 3 departments- that gets you very, very close already.

The value of Faheem should be questioned... He's never scored a run that I've seen so with Amir in his place you concede less runs, have a more x factor bowler (he was "finished" last time you came to England for a tournament too...) and that gets you a improvement.

Your Captain didn't bottle it. He wasn't middling everything but his SR was winnable if he had some support from the lower order. Faheem is not the answer. Imad missed out but should be persisted with- if he fired, you win.

Key batsmen look in form.

Scored 350+ shows players & management have recognised these are the scores needed to win flat track ODI's right now (sure can with with less, but if a good start, 350 should always be the modern target).

A win with some positives.

The players you mentioned may not be in your squad. What position does Pandya bat and what about Panth if he plays?

Pandya at 7. After that he tail starts. Pant is not in the squad. Even if he were he will not find a place. India will not go with just 5 bowlers. Shankar or Jadhav will play the 6th bowler all rounder role. KL Rahul will potentially play at no.4

Rohit, Dhawan, Kohli, Rahul, Dhoni, Jadhav/Shankar, Pandya.

Stay on topic - this thread about England v Pakistan.

You either win or lost. People don't remember how closed you fought. It's all about w/l that's matter. Sarfu is useless, so is faheem. Need some serious tweak in this lineup.

Has anyone seen Liam plunkett's ball tampering video from yesterday? The ball is really really scuffed up from one side, I wonder if ICC are going to take any notice, surprised to not see people discuss it here yet.

Excellent performance from Pakistan. I have to say that I didn't expect Pak batters to score so freely in England and that too in the very first match of the series.

Well done guys. Pak Should've won the match.

Thanks brother.

Hope you guys win the Tri-Series.

373 scored & almost chased . Is this going to be the theme of this WC ?

Lets see how this series goes, but if Pakistan is going to score 300+ regularly in the next few games, not sure if we can consider England a clear favorite.

Pretty much this. Imad and Wasim didn't do what was expected. still have questions if Pakistan would have been in the game for so long if fakhar was dismissed early. Not sure if imam/babar/haris can carry along at a runrate of 6+ for 30 overs
