Pakistan reach 8/1 (trail by 354) at Stumps on Day 3 of 2nd Test against New Zealand

NZ will finish the match before tea tomorrow!!!! 2.5 sessions are enough for our hack batting to crumble.

Well at the very least, in terms of selection, Pakistan have to put more importance to FC cricket. Not to say that everyone picked to play for Pakistan for putting up numbers in FC will lead to said players becoming superstars, but they're the ones who've got to be given chances in the national team (this doesn't include proven TTFs).

Regarding Naseem Shah, he is still raw but his lack of FC experience has been badly exposed here and that FC experience is what he needs to be a better bowler and take wickets. Whether you think it is delusional to think that he'll become a superstar is a prediction more than anything, so to each their own in that regard. Personally, I think he can become, at the very least, a very good bowler but for him to achieve that level he needs to put the hard yards in, bend his back and bowl in FC to gain confidence, take wickets, and live up to the ability of being a sheer wicket-taker that everyone believes him to be.

I'll say this also, regardless of how the FC structure is, good or bad, if Pakistan don't put importance to it in regards to merited selection, then they'll continue to be a mid-table to minnow level team.

How is Wahab Riaz still fooling Pakistani fans...maybe when you have no good players coming through you try to convince yourself that what you have is actually good.

But I still have nightmares of him hopelessly getting smashed countless times.
 
I guess this four pacer formula needs some fixing .... it’s lacking height now.

There is nothing about intent - you should never declare first innings unless there is a time constraint. Kiwis got PAK bowlers on knees - should have batted till 800 and unleash their pacers with 9 man catching - that’s Aussie way of cricket.
 
The way we are sliding even Afghan and Ireland will be ahead of us in next 5-7 years in all formats.

Someone will score an inconsequential half-century or century to cement his place for the next series and we will crash to an innings defeat.

Then they will say that we showed good effort in the second innings and we have learned from our mistakes and IA we will improve moving forward.
 
Not surprised. Predicted an innings defeat in the pre-match thread, Pakistan duly delivered.
 
NZ commies don't know what to say so they're praising this little Pakistan defensive batting and classifying this as spirit of the game.
 
People say Masood plays the ball late like a proper Test opener. He actually sees the ball late. That is why 90% of his come through edging the ball through the gap between third and fourth slip.

Such a talentless and unconvincing batsman. He has no chance of scoring unless the opposition gives him 4-5 chances.

Looks like IK is not any different in terms improving our cricket than Sethi or Zaka. He should put right people who knows the job and do right thing without any interference from IK.
 
Masood and Ali have been given the memo that this is a timeless test.

These Kiwi bowlers cannot bowl well unless the ball is swinging. Besides Wagner who is not playing.

Shan if he scores a 100 here will be the ultimate troll to every Pak supporter.
 
I blame the bowlers more than the batsmen, although the batting has been mediocre too especially the openers. Shaheen is overrated in Tests, should improve himself in FC cricket before being considered for the Test team. And the openers are just joking around, trailing by more than 300 runs and they have only scored 2 runs off 6 overs, lol.

Bottomline is he saved it. Our batters will bat for long periods without impacting the result of the match. That's mediocrity.

You’re comparing Pak bowling attack with NZ. Takes a lot of balls to say NZ bowlers can’t bowl when supporting a non existing attack like Pakistan’s

You have to know how to utilize your height too. Shaheen is tall, but he has no idea which lengths take wickets in Tests.

Abbas is playing his shots. And who can blame him. He's probably thinking he's good enough to bat at three.
 
Jamison has been the x factor for NZ, the guy can swing, seam the ball, get the ball to kick off from a full length, has a nasty quick bouncer. Unplayable in NZ
 
Shan was the best Pakistani batsman on the tour to SA in 2019. Sadly this has been a complete horror series for him where he has lost confidence big time and will be dropped deservedly. Let's see if he can bounce back from this going forward in domestic cricket
