Pakistan suffer a familiar batting collapse to end Day 2 of the 2nd Test against Australia at 194/6, trail by 124 runs

Key will be taking a decent first innings lead. Aus becomes a different team when they are ahead vs behind.
 
Facts:

Australia became the first team since 2019 to pass 300 when batting first at the MCG.
 
10 run over.. maybe they try to bat Lyon out of the attack and put more pressure on the pacers?

If that happens it will be great. Tired Aus pacers will be a lot less effective.
 
Wow. So Pakistan bowled Australia out for 318. Maybe 30 runs too many but this is a big feat. I don't recall this happening recently with Pakistan touring Australia. This is exactly what Indian bowling did. Kept Australia in and around 300.
 
Bouncers will be followed by the one pitched up and Shan's gonna go for that flashy drive with an open face

Pakistan has a good chance here, just need to bat as big as possible in first innings to put pressure on Aus. 318 is not 450 so game on here.
 
Really good aggressive stuff from Shan Masood. Ever since he's come in, game has moved on and he's forced Abdullah to run between the wickets more.

Captaincy and field placement was impressive too. Shan won't ever be the best player on your team but its clear he has a good mind for captaincy and plays the game with the right mindset and something we are looking for more from our players.
 
If they can avoid driving too much I expect them to score 300-350 otherwise much less
 
I feel so much more secure knowing Rizwan is going to bat instead of Sarfraz.

If Imam does not perform in the second innings then maybe we either drop Imam for Saim or drop Imam and move Shan to opening and add someone else.

Shan/Babar/Saud/Rizwan/Agha is a good middle order. Hasan Ali and Aamer Jamal are decent bats too.

Few more 10 overs like this then Aus will be under pressure.

Aus has been too used to Pakistan folding up easily so it will be good to see how Aus responds when Pakistan plays well.

Shoulders never drop when opposition is Pak. Teams always believe they have a chance even from impossible situations

Despite being highly inconsistent, abdullah looks good when he is batting with intent.

Well, Aus also plays differently when they are ahead vs behind. It will be very interesting if Pakistan can take a meaningful lead. Aus may still win, but they will have to work for their win vs just playing and winning.

It's fine even if Aus wins. Just make them earn the win.
 
Half century for Abdullah. Classy player and its great to see him scoring runs.

Worth mentioning its probably his first time ever playing in Australia and playing in here vs this bowling attack is no joke. Babar got destroyed in his first tour here.
 
This is why having intent is so important. Now you see Starc going wayward with his line & length because players like Imam aren't just eating dots even on bad deliveries.

This also shows how the right call was made at the toss yesterday. Some posters were weirdly adamant that Pak should have batted first just for the sake of batting first.
 
Shan masood literally turned the momentum of the innings. This is been missing from Pakistani test cricket for a long long time. Shan ticking over the runs has helped Abdullah start scoring more fluently, really hoping Shan and Abdullah get a big one. Will send a positive message to the whole team

No need to overthink , it could be even a win.

Aus batting is not that great. Main thing for Pakistan is to put up a big total in first inning so Aus will be under pressure.
 
Finally… showing badtameezi to Marsh. Gave him too much respect last game.

Having a captain with an attacking mindset… that mindset spreading to the other players.
 
If pakistan have to go for a win, they need to learn the art of batting in a morning session without collapse

Both openers gone to nothing shots. Very disappointing to see minnow level dismissals because it's all down to weak mentality
 
That's 1 thing Abdullah needs to improve he lose focus once he's set
 
This is our main issue. Good looking 50 if even that, need more resilience to score 100s and big ones.

That's unfortunate, Abdullah was looking so good there. Looks like the ball held up a bit in the pitch on that shot.
 
please no collapse. Babar make it count against a top side already.

Abdullah did well but still looked anxious in his 60's. That's why he was early in to his shot. But considering this is his first Aus tour he's done well so far
 
ball is 36 overs old , decent deck , time for Babar to get a big one at a decent clip .
 
why I am not surprised , ye tu China ka kohli b nai hai yar , such a shame , all the talent and shots but guy has no guts to fight it out.
 
As usual… time elapsed between wickets for Pakistan is hardly 5 mins.
