Pakistan survive to Stumps on Day 3 at 160/5, with lead of 124 runs in 1st Test against West Indies

Lol, Azhar has a really bad problem with falling over.

We can still win this, we've got a lead, just need to pace it properly now.
 
Pakistan top order has really struggled. A good top order batsmen would be great for Pakistan at this time.
 
Azhar allows the bowler to dominate. Plays every test like its his first. The softest veteran in world cricket
 
Babar needs to get runs here and at best avoid a soft dismissal. Given our fragile top order we have a lot of expectations from Babar so he needs to deliver here. This is a WTC match and its important we win this series.

Win the series...i think the expectations are too high here. If we draw it would be classed as an acheivement
 
Pakistan should be aiming to play out the better bowlers in the West Indies team, whilst focusing on rotating strikes effectively.

Imran Butt is the bigger issue at the moment, he has had enough chances to prove himself and has not produced anything of substance.

Abid making runs is good for us, but Imran needs to go.

Keep in mind the West Indies will be batting on Day 4 and 5, where this pitch is likely to crumble and offer a good spin for Yasir.

Pakistan need to post 350 here if we want to win. It takes one batsman who stands up along with others who play sensibly.

The tail has to stick around as well.

Maybe thought of making Azhar and Abid open in the next game and including Saud at no 3 should be given a go. Abdullah can be a replacement as well but, I think Saud is much more polished and ready at the moment.
 
Horrible time to lose a wicket especially a key one.

This has a worrying look to it for Pakistan.
 
Once Babar Azam stops prodding and poking at deliveries not on the stumps. he will succeed in test cricket.
 
Roach is such a skillful operator in tests. Very underrated, I think he is one of the top test pacers going around currently.

Pakistan need to think of partnerships like the West Indies did.

But the likelihood of Pak Management continuing with Abid/Imran opens is very high.
 
Against a guy like Holder, standing outside the crease will be very rewarding. His bounce will make it unlikely that LBW will work, so all you need to worry about is the outside edge.

I fully agree.

He uses the crease and bowls tidy lines and lengths.

Even now, he's trying to get Abid squared up by going wider and hoping for some seam movement on the off-stump length.

Such a quality bowler.
 
Trying to cut a chest height ball well outside off stump with a vertical bat. Feet in the air.

A really poor shot. There is some bounce and Seales is a tall bowler, playing such a shot against him here was always going to be trouble.
 
They are all.useless i predicted a defeat with people being over confident...u need players like braithwaite mentally strong for tests...Babz doesnt look comfortable either
 
Need a quality 100 from one of Babar, Fawad or Rizwan to have some sort of decent target on board.
 
The way we're hanging on with absolute stubbornness to Abid and Imran Butt is depressing.

Pathetic management to blame for persisting with super failures like Abid, Azhar and Imran Butt.
 
Just shows how far Pakistan have fallen over the years. Seem to be competing on the same level as Windies and Bangladesh.
 
Pakistan cricket is in a very sorry state right now. The Quicker the management is changed for the betterment of Pakistan cricket

Pak’s inconsistency at its finest. Whitewashed SA at home and SA toured WI and easily whitewashed them.

Pak rarely dominates an opposition and more often than not fall to the level of opposition and other than home struggle to match the top 3-4 teams.
 
Pakistan do not play enough test cricket for players to pick good form. Series against teams like Zimbabwe helps provide practise but does not really test the players at high evel.
 
Y cant we look at indian batters and learn something even players like ashwin etc...there is no feet movement at all..even babz and rizzy just plant the feet and put the bat somewhere
 
Pakistan run rate slowing down - hope this is not sign of pressure as wickets come when such pressure comes on.
 
Babar needs a ton to show he's class and the captain.

No more bad performances. Lead your team to a win with your best partner.
 
Another100 could do nicely,but for that one of these tqo need to play longish inning 70+.
 
As the ball gets older the only reason they get out is because of bad concentration.

Really is on Babar today if we lose. Yeah you haven’t had help but you are the main cog and didn’t do anything yourself the first innings.
 
Babar needs not just a career defining innings but a career defining series. While West indies isn't where his career will be defined, doing well today and for rest of the series is a very very important statement to make.

It will also be good for his test cricket mindset to get back to positive.

He absolutely must score today.
