I have missed a thriller 30 Sept 2009!! :-(

Australia are 202/8 after 49 overs. They need 3 runs to qualify and 4 to win and I am at office working and following tha match on Crapinfo and of course here.

Any1 else who has missed the live action?

What a match, now this is a nice slap in the face of all of those who questioned Pakistan's commitment in the game. very well played, and it goes on to show that Pakistan has to power to fight it out and InshAllah we will take it all the way.

Last ball, Hauritz missed and ran anyway. Akmal failed to hit the bails and Australia wins.

Is that really a win, win ?. I don't know.

Nicely played Pakistan.

come on AKMAL>... WHY COULDN"T u have someone by the wicket...
screw team pak

they had a chance to freakin top the group in ICC event

What a shyte game until the last 10 overs which were ENTHRALLING!! Awesome fightback from Pakistan and awesome nerves from the OZ to hold out at the death.

See now we are second in Group A and if it rains on Saturday (God Forbid) then we are out despite the fact that we are second in our group!

Ah bleh that leaves a bad taste in the mouth...a tie wouldve been perfect...kamran akmal should have been close to the stumps godammit. Great fightback but akh that feels bad...

omy r u serious is it suppose to rain on sat ?????

I was reading Safraz Nawaz comments that Pakistan should lose so India is out but should win so winning momemtum is with them so I think after this game we know that Pakistan did both

Good fight back by Pakistan.

You know what would be a real kick in the balls/fairytale, if after that Aus win the tourney and that too against us. :))

I hope I'm so very wrong.

Shade's of '99. They just about failed to chase 275 and thrashed us in the final.

We just about fail to defend 205 and thrash them in the final? I hope so.

Ofcourse first call of business is New Zealand

Akmal is a decent batsmen, but he is no way NEAR a good keeper. I heard Rashid Lateef saying that Akmal has too big-a-ass which makes it difficult for him to keep, since you have to get-up quickly.

Akmal needs to lose weight, maybe then he can get better at his MAIN job. Aussies should not have won this match. Pak bowlers saved our batsmen and wicket-keeper today.

I m really hurt at the moment, after such an amazing come back,we shouldve pulled this one off..

But guys ALLAH (SWT) controls everything. So if he wills it couldn't rain on Saturday but could rain on Friday so who will be in final from Friday's semi final?

Australia are gonna play hard cricket. there are in finals for sure now. england have no chance.

Who will be the MoM? Hussey? Johnson? Watson?

I would give it to Rana for nearly getting Pak home, but Hussey will probably get it. Twatson? Are you joking?? :po:

:))) :14: classic

Phew! I need to gather my breath as I type this out. It looked completely one-sided at one stage with Ponting and Hussey going strong, but they collapsed from 140 for 2 to 187 for 8. When Johnson was gone, Pakistan were favourites to seal this but Lee and Hauritz saw off some nervy moments at the end to see their team through to the next stage, and to victory. Splendid effort from Pakistan, too, who fought superbly to make a match out of this. Asif was superb in his second spell, and Naved lethal, bowling it in the blockhole with consistency; the ball t get rid of Hussey was a peach. Pakistan were already through to the semis, but raised their game when it mattered and almost pulled it off. Join us in a bit for the presentation. Australia now take on old foes England in Centurion in the semi-final, and Pakistan take on New Zealand in Johannesburg.

**** you AKMAL
This is what you call dumb cricket. Truly YK has no brains when he does not make clear to his Akmal to:

1. come close to the wicket as a wicketkeeper
2. throw the ball at the other end

You see the Aussies even discuss the issue in front of them, but still they act like they don't know.

It was a fantastic comeback mate. Could've gone either way at the end.

what a match by Pakistan. Lets see how Indian media react. What i am hearing now isnt good about Pakistan. After LONG LONG time Pakistan was bowling like wasim and waqir in end.

How can Pakistan be out if it rains on Saturday? That's just stupid! Whoever made that comment should be slapped like a !"£$%^&

fabulous game of cricket and wicket played exactly like i thought it would...bowlers were awsome...hats off to all of them!!! even pakistan batting was good, we could easily have been all out for 170 if it was not for our middle order...just a few runs more could have made all the difference

Till the last 2 balls they were licking all the garbage back that they had every thrown at Pak. In short thuka howa chat rahay thay. After Australia won they were all praises for them that this is how a champion side plays blablabla.

i m happy r out of th tournament... they are already 12/2 following a small target... this is not a semi-finalist team........

I dont think it work like that

Younis: "They had a fantastic time with the ball, and got partnerships going when they batted, But suddenly, we came back hard and it was a great finish. The pitch was a little soft in the morning, not a bad pitch for cricket. Irrespective of who you play in the semis, you just have to stick to your plans."

Guys what if rains out on Friday who will go in final from Australia vs England semi final?

Stupid ICC they should have had reserve days for semis and final.
Semi Final

If a semi-final is tied, the teams shall compete in a one over per side eliminator to determine which team progresses to the final. Refer Appendix 7 click here to read.

If following a tie, weather conditions prevent the one over eliminator from being completed, or if the match is a no result, then the group winners shall progress to the Final.

Final

In the event of a tied Final, the teams shall compete in a one over eliminator to determine which team is the winner. Refer Appendix 7 click here to read.

In the event of a no result, provided weather conditions permit, the teams shall compete in a one over per side eliminator to determine which team is the winner. If weather conditions do not permit, the teams will be declared joint winners.

Ponting: "I had chewed all my fingernails off. It was tough to score quickly out there, the bounce was inconsistent and it spun at the end so we were a little lucky to restrict them to that total. We've finished top of the table, and we have a good understanding of how the conditions are here and we look forward to taking on England."

.
thats exactly what made me fume..senseless cricket from Kakmal,He should've realised that they would run for everything and he shouldve come a bit nearer to the stumps,

Hussey: "The Pakistanis bowled well, and thankfully Brett Lee and Hauritz showed some steel in the end and got us over the line. It's a good achievement for our team and we're looking to go at least another step further."

I am happy that Pakistan and Australia qualified and India out of the CT....but Trust me i still think something fishy in this match.....maybe both teams mutually planned like this so no one can point fingers on MATCH FIXING :)...but still we cant say is was planned or really a thriller.. :)
Well played Pakistan & Australia :D

Allah knows the best...
Pakistan zindabad :D

people are getting excited about thrilling finish, but i have started to loose respect for the game of cricket. i am still not sure in what sense this game was played and who scripted it!

Loss to Aus is Extra's!!!!

Pak need to control the Extra's

Aus had 6 extra's compared to Pak 14!

Thats where we lost it!!!

very good point that!!!

Amazing fighting spirit shown from the boys!!
The way they came back in the last 15 overs was amazing. I never thought that Pakistan would of been able to show this kind of fighting spirit and make the match come right down to the wire when the Aussies were 150 odd for 3.

How stupid the final on monday

At least the semi final will be on Saturday for us. The only positive I can see plus the way we fought back to make a match out of nothing.

I feel bad for the Indian fans. This game must have really teased them. :)))

Unless they won it, the fightback wasn't enough. The reason we lost it was cuz Aus needed it more. Simple as that.

The pathetic late batting by MoYo, Misbah, and others cost us the match -- we were short ~20-40 runs that we could have easily gotten.

Our bowlers did a great job, but they can go only so far. Asif proved to be a better bowler than Gul in the end (esp. his swing was back in the second spell), and with Ajmal, created the fightback opportunity for us.

Misbah should be kicked out of the semi + final, MoYo disciplined, and U Akmal moved up a spot.

The bowling combo: Aamer, Asif, Rana, Ajmal, and Afridi.

good fightback.. lol but the way we kept India on its toe and praying right until the last ball was kinda bad : D lol
